i urge u to inquire about doing transcription at social service agencies. they are overwhelmed with their paperwork. i work for a psychotherapist. he is extremely busy and tells me typing his own notes is one less thing he has to worry about. u can market yourself by telling them they can carry around a hand held dictator and dictate while they are in the car going to their next session. i pick up at the end of the week and finish by the end of the next week. it is a general transcription, few medical words.

On a side note, psych dictations seem to have overall better quality than medical dictation in general as the psychiatrists/psychologists seem to have an innate understanding of good dictation practices.

you're securing all that data right? Because in some states, psych data is held in much tighter confidentiality than regular medical data. Which means that card you pick up better dang sure be secured in a lock box in your car :)

I love your idea and appreciate any help at all in my job search. I can't believe how frustrating it is after over 20 years of experience to find these 3/6 cpl jobs. Would anyone have a template to use as a letter of introduction to send out for something like this?

It's an intro letter I wrote several years ago to a new doctor, so you can play with it and make it fit your own needs. As far as the 25% off thing, that's up to you - you can use it or not (It worked well with my new clients!)

i am transcribing into an electronic medical record, which is safe and secure. i did sign a lengthy confidentiality notice. he pays me by the hour ($17).

at her office, $30 an hour, then she moved to another state. I then worked for a local chiropractor for the same wages for several years, then he retired. I am working on other local offices (psychiatric, social services and chiropractic) to hire me for transcription at this time while working for peanuts at a large MT company and now understand what all the complaining is about wages.

I work at home for the local hospital/clinic and have for the last 12 years doing transcription. Now all of a sudden we switched to a new system and a lot of the doctors are doing voice recognition and we are doing more editing of reports than typing. Also, I used to work a solid 8 hours a day from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Now I have to get up at 4 a.m. to grab work till about 8 a.m., and then there is no work till around noon. It is just me or does it seems as if the transcription third party companies are focused more on acute care transcription than any other specialty. I have been a radiology transcriptionist for over 20 years. The company I worked for decided to eliminate 13 of us F/T transcriptionists since they converted to VR system and they kept a few aboard.
