Thinking of applying at Synernet, Plenty of work?? - tiredofrunning

Posted: Nov 12, 2013

I am so tired of trying to find that "perfect" fit for a company to work for.  Good companies are so few and far between and I just want to finally find a fair place.  It seems like the only companies left are MModal and Nuance and I wouldn't work for them for anything.  So, before I apply for Synernet, how are things there?

Thanks :)

Don't waste your time with Synernet. The bennnies were great, but the company is cliquish at best. My last week I had 2.5 hours of work. They have overhired recently and it is NOT the place you want to be if you want to eat.

Agreed - Tired MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I completely agree about them being very cliquish. They also will micromanage you to death. If you ever go over on your break by even just a few minutes, expect to get a nasty, accusatory email. It's absolutely ridiculous. I work second shift and find the "leads" to be very rude, unprofessional, and a complete joke, especially one in particular (won't mention names here). I was even accused by this particular lead of being a no call/no show for my shift when I was on a scheduled vacation! She left me a very rude voice mail and email. I couldn't believe it. Very disorganized and unprofessional with a huge lack of management skills. I am an adult and a professional, and I do not appreciate being treated like a child. I have worked at Synernet for nearly 2 years now and they used to be a pretty good company to work for and almost never ran out of work, but over the past several months, they have grossly overstaffed accounts and people are running out of work left and right. I've had to use a good chunk of my earned time because of this. I don't plan on staying much longer if this keeps up. I know of others who work there who feel the same way. We're tired of being treated like dirt and running out of work all the time.

Wow ... I thought I was the only one they treated like that. sm - Sad MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I started the job full of great hopes and happiness, but it has turned into a picture of they don't care, so I don't care. G can give his big pep talks about loyalty and all of that, but loyalty goes both ways and I feel they have shown me none. I am polishing up my resume. I have been an MT since Moses was a child, and I deserve better treatment than this.

for radiology, plenty of work -- for non-rad, it's been slow lately - working 8 accounts at once nm

If they are hiring again, I'm not happy. I'm constantly making up time. - Bah humbug

[ In Reply To ..]
I keep getting told it is just slow and there are no other accounts to put me on ..... gets old in a hurry. The majority of my e-mails are either not answered at all or maybe answered a week later. They have great benefits. That's about all I can say.

That's a shame when I remember a time on here when Synernet got some good words spoken about it. I guess now they have plans to go to about total VR for one thing. Used to be all straight typing. They sounded kind of rigid to me is why I never went with them.

This is nothing but rumor about totally VR. - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
They are not going totally VR. Not right to spread rumors. People who work there should attend company meetings and not spread mistruths.
Ten licenses by the end of the year, 50 the next -- - not going to VR?

That is not totally to VR. Why spread rumors - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
You have to spread rumors? If you know the number of them then you have been to the meeting and know the true story. So keep on spreading rumors and get fired. I'm just shaking my head.
I didn't spread rumors. I simply responded to your thing about the VR. sm - Bah humbug
[ In Reply To ..]
My post was about the lack of work and lack of communication. If they want to fire me for that, then I'd say I didn't lose much. Keep drinking that Koolaid and swinging those pompoms with the cheer if it helps.

Yep! Me too! How do they expect you to make up time...when - tiredofmakingup

[ In Reply To ..]
I am constantly running out of work and have more than 2 back-up accounts. Then told you can't use PTO, but to make up work. It's like a vicious cycle, when I do makeup one day, then I run out the next. What the heck! Just let me use my PTO and be done with it. I am currently looking elsewhere!

My experience with Synernet - Been there a Year

[ In Reply To ..]
When I hired on, I thought I had finally found a job from which I could retire. Excellent benefits, and seemed comparable to an in-house job. Though the pay 7 cpl seemed low, I was able to make a decent living. However, over the past I would say maybe 3 months, things have changed. There was always work available, and a lot of mandatory overtime, now I am consistently running out of work maybe 2 to 3 hours of no work maybe twice a week. I have never had a problem with management or my supervisors. Actually, at one point I thought I didn't have a supervisor, as there is no communication between us whatsoever neither good or bad. No one hounds me with e-mails or phone calls. I do my work and they leave me alone. QA has become very strict. In addition to random QA, if you leave off a physician carbon copy you get dinged as a critical error, etc. Incentive is unobtainable. I could be wrong, but I don't believe anyone gets Incentive as the levels are set too high.

I have gotten incentive. - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I appreciate my second shift lead. They allow you to do work other times when it is OOW on your shift. If you work your system time they leave you alone as long as it is correct. They don't like slackers.

I get the incentive as well; HOWEVER... - Frustrated MT

[ In Reply To ..]
.....I do not appreciate the way I am treated and I especially don't appreciate, as someone else mentioned in another post, the extreme micromanagement that goes on. Certain people seem to let a little bit of power go to their head and take it too far. I also am updating my resume and will begin sending it out very shortly.

They ALLOW you to work other times when you are OOW? sm - Rahrah

[ In Reply To ..]
How generous. My interpretation of the last e-mail sent on the subject was you HAVE to make up your time when you are OOW, even though that is not your fault. You cannot use earned time or just not get paid.
Wondering.... - Synernet MT2
[ In Reply To ..]
I also work for Synernet and have had a good rapport with the Leads/Supervisors. I have found that communication is key. When I am in a slump with no work or any other issue I email. If I do not get a timely response then I pick up the phone and call. If you are not happy with the Leads then go over their heads and communicate your problem. Complaining on here and not directly to the source isnt going to change anything. If you are unhappy and want to leave, then leave. It will give those of us who want to work that much more work to do. I have worked for a few different companies and all companies go through slumps where the work ebbs and flows. Its just a personal choice if you want to ride the wave or not.
I was hired for a certain shift and if I run oow - ridiculousrules
[ In Reply To ..]
Then I should be able to use my PTO. Some of us have kids we have to take care of and quite frankly don't have time to deviate from the shift for which we are hired to cover. I have never ever had to be babysat at a job before and wish 6 months ago I would have gotten my unemployment andgone back to school.
Exactly - Crazy
[ In Reply To ..]
Every other company I have ever worked for in the past has allowed you to use your earned time if you ever ran out of work. It's pure craziness that Synernet does not give you that option. I have a very busy personal life outside of work and I don't always have time to work outside of my shift just to make up for the times when I run out of work during my normal shift. I should not have to give up my time off just to try and play catch-up. It's getting old fast and I'm sick of it.
I guess... - Synernet MT2
[ In Reply To ..]
what throws me about all the talk is that it isnt like nobody saw this coming. When I went to school for this 13 years ago everyone was all a twitter about it being a dying career due to voice recognition. I didnt believe then, nor do I believe now that it is. There will always be a need for someone to be proofreading these documents regardless to ensure patients arent dying on the table due to some computers typo. Maybe as technology progresses it will get there but it isnt nowhere near there yet that I can see. Anyone who has done editting can tell you that. I believe the changes that are coming for Synernet are changes that are sweeping this industry. Unfortunately in healthcare it is an ebb and flow business and now with turnaround times so strict Synernet has to have the coverage. Again, I go to the source for my information. I dont sit and ponder what is going on with the company I work for. If I have concerns, I pick up the phone and ask. MTs should be more concerned if Synernet wasn't keeping up with competitors and looking at the positives of voice rec and getting involved before it does put us all out of work...but maybe I'm a
"the glass is half full" kinda woman as opposed to the alternative. If Synernet didnt advance with technology, we wouldn't be here. If anyone believes the entire transcription world isnt going through the same changes, then I would encourage them to find something that offers what they feel is more stability. I'm surprised Synernet still offers the benefits they offer but I am grateful. I certainly havent seen the benefits generosity at other companies I have worked for. I guess it is all a matter of opinion and this is just mine. I have many friends who transcribe for several different companies, so far as I can tell, we are all in the same boat is all I'm saying.
The VR side is the least of my worries right now...SM - iftheresnoworknowthen...
[ In Reply To ..]
I have worked in VR before, with the last company I was with. I had never seen such a generous company as the one I am no longer with. They underwent a merger with a large company and alas that was the end of the company. However, my concern is NOT with going to VR. My concern is if there is NO work now, then when VR is thrown in the mix how is that going to create more jobs, especially if VR is supposed to make doing the documents more quickly? I see a mass lay-off in the future, much like what happened at the last company I was at, which I will say I was at for over 8 years. It started 2 years ago and for the past 2 summers 7 to 10 have were laid off, now they are down to a handful of MTs left. So, I appreciate your "opinion" and I am voicing mine. All we can hope for is more accounts, because if and when the VR begins and everyone acclimates to it and becomes faster, the issue with no work is going to be even worse. I pray I'm wrong, but so far it doesn't seem that way.
Not Worried - Synernet MT2

The more I read on here, the less worried I am. Once all the disgruntled unappreciative people leave like they say they are going to, the rest of us will be fine!

First of all, we are entitled to air our complaints on this public forum designed for that purpose. Disgruntled? You betcha! Unappreciative - LMAO - I do SO appreciate jumping through hoops, putting my entire life on hold, begging for work to no avail and being told "work is slow" over and over when I saw no less than 20 new hires who seemed to have no issues. I left to eliminate the possibility of starving and being homeless. Dream on, Missy. You will soon learn that the bottom line is the corporate bottom line and you are a number and a pair of hands.

Thinking Of Applying At Synernet. How Often Do They...
May 15, 2014

I see they adverstise quite often and I don't mind working 2nd or 3rd shift.  I just had a few questions first before I apply.  1.  How often do they give raises?  2.  How good is the insurance, meaning, is there a very high deductible? 3.  Do they leave you alone as long as you are doing your job?  4.  Is there room for advancement? 5.  Do they contribute to retirement?    Thank you all in advance! ...

Plenty Of Job Offers
Dec 01, 2010

So here is a blindly obvious question. With all of the job ads on this site, who is getting hired? Are they actually real jobs that are being posted by "real" people who actually need MT work done? Are any of you applying and getting these jobs. I have found that there is NEVER a shortage of MT jobs to apply for. There are ALWAYS ads on several sites soliciting the help of both experienced and newer MT's. As many MT's that are on this site I think I would here a few more success s ...

Plenty Of Work?
Sep 30, 2012

I will be starting second shift, Sunday through Thursday, with Nuance.  I have not given notice yet to the company that I am currently working for because I'm thinking of hanging onto them in case there is a shortage of work with Nuance.  Anybody else work this shift?  How is the workflow?  I've read a lot about people not being able to meet the full-time requirements to receive benefits because there simply is no work.  Is this true?  I'm a single mo ...

Plenty Of Work
Jan 26, 2013

Today I have had plenty of work without having to jump around all over the place.  I enjoy working at MModal.  They have been good to me and I have been fortunate to have supervisors who will work with me and I can work with them.  I feel very fortunate to have a job right now when so many others are out of work and cannot find them.  In the last 6 months, I have only had 1 day when there were no jobs available.  Within a couple of hours, my supervisor called and asked me to work on an acc ...

If You Want Plenty Of Work Try Focus
Feb 10, 2010

They have taken on a couple dozen new accounts this year. They are a huge company and use Escription and Dictaphone Extext. They are owned by Dictaphone so rest assured they will have work when other companies are running out. The team leads are in America now, not in India. I would rather work for them and know I will get my lines and get paid than to make zero on another job because I'm pouting about working for a company that sends work to India. Just a FYI. ...

Applying For Job

Okay, this is somewhat of a strange situation.  I have been looking for a job in the field that I was in prior to becoming an MT 11 years ago, which would be a full-time position with benefits.  Currently I am IC.  I had lost my previous job due to downsizing and the office/company that I worked for basically closed it's Wisconsin branch except for a handful of employees.  I just found out that one of the employees at this small Wisconsin branch of the company that I use ...
