STAT Transcription--Must haves - 2nd verse same as the 1st

STAT Transcription in Michigan's ad says must have $$ own computer, own programs, own up-to-date books, Stedman's Medical spell checker, up-to-date Drug Index--$$--for low wages, oh, and pay your own taxes, no benefits. Hospitals buy equipment for doctors...anything they want to keep them happy and on staff. Once a radiologist came into the transcription department for batteries for his hospital-supplied hand-held Dictaphone so he could dictate his office notes...supplied by the hospital...never had to buy their own batteries even! The hospital operators are their answering service too. They get more money with VR and don't have to pay for the new updated equipment either...they get private instruction.

I felt the same way when I read the ad, maybe the bottom line is they feel we should pay them for the honor of having a job. Maybe no one should send their resume to let them know how ridiculous their ad is.

All supplies, computer, books, proper English, not-so-proper English, account specifics that interchange, ESL speakers, Medical changes, new drugs, old drugs, generic drugs, name-brand drugs, new programs, old programs, computer science, math for line counts, short cuts, time management, knowing labor laws, tax laws, how to get more than minimum wages when paid 3-4 cents in 8 hours. Praying.

They only pay 3-4 cpl? - Aaahhmazing...

I sent my resume in and just heard back last week asking if I was still interested. She sent a brief little word document with some account specs, cpl and paydates--no contract, HIPAA agreement, etc. I did three voice files the first day. I know this shouldn't bother me, but I have this doctor (and he has a PA-C under him that does it too) that STAT every file. Normally, with a brain injury patient, I would be extremely careful about pre-medicating the patient with lidocaine and fentanyl and waiting several minutes for this to s/l quit-al-bate and do a careful rapid-sequence intubation with etomidate and a long-acting paralytic agent. Anyone ever notice that everytime the NTS-Stat address comes into your IM list that work gets screwy? I mean, why have this address at all since we never use this person or address for anything? Anyone else get driven nuts by dictators who STAT everything?
