Open letter to Transcend/ rewards and communications - a few thoughts
Posted: Mar 31, 2011Finally, after 2 days, I found the list of the new teams they created for communications and rewards. The Rewards team will have it easy as there are no rewards. All you need to know about winning a contest is to know who the names on the list of people they want to give a little extra to and you will have the winner. It is nothing about meeting the criteria for the current game being played, it is all about favorites..
As far as communications, that is a different story. This is the area that Transcend claims to be excelling in. That is why it took me 2 days to find the list of members - the home page announcement says it is under company information, policies/procedures. Great communication on a web site that everyone goes to daily, but unfortunately, as usual, the information is not just inaccurate - it is just totally wrong. I could not find it there, although I did find some rather interesting information, especially under communications where they say they need to know about problems with the Mmodal system so they can be fixed. Did someone forget to communicate that to the team leads and ROMs so they quit sending out that nasty pat answer of "if it were perfect you would not have a job"? Maybe if they would fix their problems, I could do my job a lot better and get a decent line count without having a headache after 2 hours of working.
Perhaps this will help some of us poor souls who work in regions where changes are made to the AI sheets with no notification of what those changes are. After all, we are supposed to "read the AI sheet" before we start our shift. Yes, Transcend, get real. When you pay me 1 hour administrative time a day to read the 35-40 pages of the AI sheet for each account I am on and try to remember what it said yesterday versus what it says today, I will do that. Right now I guess I am content to get a bad audit score on work review so they can tell me that what I have been doing for 10 years on this account is now wrong.
We used to have monthly team meetings, but now those are quarterly - maybe. I know it is extremely difficult to take 1 hour every 3 months to talk to a group with a common interest - but these meetings can actually be informative as long as the leader is not in a hurry to go feed her dogs or take her kids to soccer practice. If there is too much information to be given in an hour, then maybe you need to go back to a monthly meeting. Or, maybe the COO needs to sit in on some of these meetings anonymously and listen to the groans when some certain names are mentioned to see the how disliked some of these "professionals" have become. Perhaps you need to take the pedestal from under a certain few to realize that they are not doing their jobs now. They may have been doing them well when they started, but as typical, they slacked off and now do nothing.
Transcend needs to take a class in clear, concise presentation of accurate information in a timely manner and that would clear up some of their confusion.
It seems to me that this huge company could find the time and resources to fix its various platforms, improve the drafts that are being sent out to be edited, and actually find a way to help its employees rather than creating teams of 10-20 people to screw a light bulb in. If we could actually trust you not to take revenge, the employees could create good lists of areas that need to be corrected, but right now with the vindictive nature of the company, (including the employee advocate), nothing good will come out of this.
