Oh, thanks! Good grief what IS a good transcrp. co. to work for? I was with Spheris for 6 years until MedQuist took over and I quit! I don't think I'm going to find another Spheris!

If you search the archives, a lot of Oracle MTs have already posted about their recent experiences with OTI.

As for me, absolutely nothing has changed and I am still running out of work. In fact, I'm out of work again today which is why I'm here on the board.

I'm as busy as I want to be and if I'm not, they help me stay busy. Been there since October on the new acct and have had no problems. They don't bother me, just let me do my work, which is more than I can say for a lot of other places. QA is not punitive, it is helpful and they are there if you need them. And I guess that's about all I have to say about that. :) Sorry for those who are having unpleasant experiences, but I guess that goes in any company.

I ran out of work, even on the new account. The account was horrible anyway,with the most inconsiderate dictators I have ever transcribed for. Got another account which they gave me a whole day to learn, then told me to leave. Actually I was grateful they did. I now have a really nice place to work for.

I don't find the doctors that difficult - you get your share of fast talkers, ESLs or yawners where ever you go. I've run out of work on occasion, but it's back in the system within a short period of time. I don't think it's a horrible account by any means.....but glad you found yourself something else.

I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I know lots of companies get bashed on this board and some for silly reasons, but I was wondering if there was any truth behind the posts here, or if it's just a few "unhappy" MTs. I graduated from school last year and have worked as an IC with a company for 3 months. I was told I'd be the sole MT on one small Ortho account, but now I know I was lied to. Other MTs grab everything out of the queue and I'm lucky if I make $23/day, many days I get 0 jobs. I have been researching all the online MT Courses and have decided that the 2 I seem to think are the most reputable are TRSInstitute and Career Step. Any input from anyone on any schools? I think that when we edit an ASR document, we should be compensated at our transcription rate for every keystroke we do to make the report ready for the client. Since Medquist is so accurately able to calculate our keystrokes, mouse clicks and so on, it should be easy for them to determine how many extra keystrokes were required to prepare the final report. ...

Do you guys think the minimum line count will be going up soon? Some states have raised their minimum wage. Trying to figure out how some of us would be able to hold on if it were to go up any higher than 150/hr. Barely able to meet that as it is. Just don't think makeup pay is something they're very happy about having to provide either. of fixing report after report. VR was sold with fradulant representation. The way this has continued is the MT is to "fix" these reports to the facilities specs and regardless of what comes over, the end report is to be correct. Why don't they just pay the MTs a decent wage instead of paying all the extra QA people for all the extra audits? This is a convoluted mess - transparent to who? Einstein? I was wondering why in the new 6.1 version, it takes more words to get an automatic S marker inserter (highlighting words then using the delete button). I used to have to count the words and if 5 or more, used to place the S marker. I wonder why now the difference. Just the ramblings and observations of me.. The national I worked for the longest was MDI-MD and it truly was the best compared to everything else I had experienced as far as national companies. Man I feel so bad!!! I have typed radiology for 8 years. I took the test and I failed. I saw other posts on here of people who have had more experience than me and failed.
