Oracle/OTI Transcription - DD

I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I know lots of companies get bashed on this board and some for silly reasons, but I was wondering if there was any truth behind the posts here, or if it's just a few "unhappy" MTs. Anything you can share would be great! Thanks so much!

I'm typically not one to bash anyone and honestly I'd always heard great things about this company. I experienced their kindness for while, but then the work load dropped and they got kind of nasty, didn't return my emails, etc. Just recently my pay was decreased. As an IC, the pay went to an unacceptable range, especially considering the fact I can never make the minimum line count needed and they never give me an explanation as to why.

Maybe some people never experienced that, but even the long-timers I know say it turned ugly.

I wish you luck. I'm finding a job elsewhere, I just can't afford to work for them anymore.

every word you've heard is true. They have changed tremendously over the years. They used to care about the MT, however that has changed. VERY little communication and nothing a 'lowly' MT can say will change that.

Believe me, it's not "just a few unhappy MTs." I have seen this company go from fantastic to uncaring and money hungry.

Sadly the same is true for me. I've had very few complaints over my 10 years, and usually only when learning a new account. Daily account updates continue to show heavy and new accounts, but when I have asked for additional work, I either get a canned answer or none at all. I've only had 200 lines in three days. And yes, they have changed over the last year. Obviously they are still over hiring, leaving us old timers out of the loop. As much as I love this field, it's time to get out, which is easier said than done at my age.

Oh, and I now qualify for food stamps and County indigent health care. nm - Sims

not too long before the holidays, having just come from a horrible job. The people of Oracle were so kind to me...and I can't tell you how excited I was when I received that silly can of popcorn! It meant so much to me. I'd never received a gift for the holidays from my employer before.

Unfortunately, it went downhill from there to where I have no work now and am looking for another job. And guess what? No popcorn.

I hope MTSOs realize it's the little things. It may not seem like much to you, but it made me feel like they cared, at least at the time. Don't think they do anymore.

I haven't had much work for months. Since last summer actually. Can never make minimum. I have another part-time job so I'll survive, and I do like that company on a whole, but there has been NO WORK. They keep promising new accounts that never happen. Is it just me? Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. Just curious, as they seldom hire. I applied, but I am acute care/hospital transcription and they were looking for people to fill multispecialty clinic account, so folks who have an extensive background in clinic work. No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now. I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle. Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work? I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe. I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe). But my question, is Oracle's ASR as good as I've been told?
