ROI testing - any thoughts? - madmamma

Man I feel so bad!!! I have typed radiology for 8 years. I took the test and I failed. I saw other posts on here of people who have had more experience than me and failed. I took the extra time to look up all of that BOS stuff. I am not sure where I went wrong. I saw somewhere that they asked about their test results but couldn't get any answers. I am feeling . I haven't ever scored low on audits and such, so I am second guessing my abilities now.

I think they are affiliated with a training school or something. I emailed the guy personally and told him nobody follows BOS to the letter b/c every acct has their own specs. Wouldn't want to work for someone who relies on a test for a job. Not everyone tests well. JMO.

I hate taking tests online, especially when they are insisting on BOS as guidelines, as has already been stated all accounts are different as to their preferences.

I wonder if this is why ROI has jobs posted so often?

I remember the days when they were so appreciative of a typed report as opposed to a hand-written document nobody could read. Anyone could be trained and the problem was nobody wanted a job for 8 hours behind the typewriter. The doctors admired the skill of typing. Feeling bad because now you are scrutinized over a job you have done and you know...do not put yourself down at all. You found out that this is a place you do not want to invest your life nor your talents to. Their 'tests' are demeaning as are the people who have made them up sometimes. None of us know everything, yet some want to think they do.

And why don't they give you the results or tell you what you missed? Sometimes I think it is because they really don't want to say. It could be anything as they have the right to hire and fire whomever. So don't beat yourself up because of an online test. Remember there are more transcribers now than jobs.

I did take that test about a month ago. It was tricky but I kept my BOS 3rd edition open and found a lot of those questions came right out of the book as examples in the book.

Now what I mean about passed the whole first part was that it allowed me to go to each section, answer and complete and kept moving me along to each other section all the way up through the transcription portion. I did not take that part because realized they only hired IC status. So I don't know if they count the answer questions as one part of the score to pass or just really use the transcription part for the pass part of the whole test.

I think so many of these companies are really hurting themselves because I am sure there are many qualified and experienced transcriptionists out there, but they insist on "nit-picking" things to death with those guidelines.

so I have no clue how they "grade" their tests. They seem way too picky for me to attempt to make the switch.

I don't understand why they won't let you see your results. You'd think as picky as they are, they'd want to let people know exactly what they did "wrong."

I graduated from school last year and have worked as an IC with a company for 3 months. I was told I'd be the sole MT on one small Ortho account, but now I know I was lied to. I have been researching all the online MT Courses and have decided that the 2 I seem to think are the most reputable are TRSInstitute and Career Step. Any input from anyone on any schools? I think that when we edit an ASR document, we should be compensated at our transcription rate for every keystroke we do to make the report ready for the client. Since Medquist is so accurately able to calculate our keystrokes, mouse clicks and so on, it should be easy for them to determine how many extra keystrokes were required to prepare the final report. ...

Do you guys think the minimum line count will be going up soon? Some states have raised their minimum wage. Trying to figure out how some of us would be able to hold on if it were to go up any higher than 150/hr. Barely able to meet that as it is. Just don't think makeup pay is something they're very happy about having to provide either. of fixing report after report. VR was sold with fradulant representation. The way this has continued is the MT is to "fix" these reports to the facilities specs and regardless of what comes over, the end report is to be correct. Why don't they just pay the MTs a decent wage instead of paying all the extra QA people for all the extra audits? This is a convoluted mess - transparent to who? Einstein? I was wondering why in the new 6.1 version, it takes more words to get an automatic S marker inserter (highlighting words then using the delete button). I used to have to count the words and if 5 or more, used to place the S marker. I wonder why now the difference. Just the ramblings and observations of me.. The national I worked for the longest was MDI-MD and it truly was the best compared to everything else I had experienced as far as national companies. The thing they did best was 1) pay the MT premium pay. 2) Offer bonus incentives that were obtainable frequently if the account was out of TAT which really made the pay nice. I need some help. Ok, I have a BA in Psychology, and am soon to be a grad from MTEC. I have a friend from church who's Dr's office would be willing to hire me as an IC.
