You all have it reversed for VR.   Those of us that do the VR editing should be paid the hourly wage, not the QA people!  We take this abysmal voice that comes in, turn it into something that can be understood, and is perfectlly fine for the patient's chart, but then you want QA to get a hold of it, pay them $12-15 an hour to make is a pretty report, hey who's doing all the work here!  I want to be paid $12 to 15 an hour to fill in the blanks, put in commas, periods, hyphens, and make some grammar changes, that's a dream job!

You need to pay the QA people on PRODUCTION, and pay the VR EDITORS HOURLY!  What's wrong with this picture?  How much talent does it take to take a report that's already gone through the voice and then through someone (hopefully) that is experienced, and made all the corrections on a line rate of 3 to 3.50 cpl, and has a blank that goes to QA, and they (sometimes not) fill in the blank and send it to the client?  for this they get $12-15 an hour???? Something is wrong with this picture.

Oh, and you MTSO's do not think the VR editor is intelligent enough to pend a job when the demographics are incorrect, or there is an unknown patient?  But we have to send it to the hourly people to take out the pend note, and then send it on, ah something is wrong with this picture again.  We're not smart enough to write a professional pend note to alert the client when there is something incorrect?  Why does it have to be some hourly person that has to do that when all you have to do is have a trainer that trains your editors to do it all.  You need good TRAINERS, not hourly QA!

You MTSO's need to get the picture right, you pay the VR editors a wage we can live on and not have to apply for food stamps, and you would save yourselves hundreds of thousands of dollars in salaries.  How many editors and a computer does it take to do a clinic note when someone came in for a cough and congestion?  For that you want someone to sit there on an hourly basis and pretty up the report?  I'd bet if you told the clients they would pay less, and get better quality, you'd have more business than you'd know what to do with, higher retention rate, and happier working VR editors, and you'd attract quality people and not have to hire the entry level people because youc an't afford to pay the experienced ones because you're paying the hourly QA people to sit there and fill in the blank, and give crappy, condescending feedback to people, and find errors when there are none so they can have job security.  Tell me does anyone monitor the QA people and exactly what they do?  Probably not, ya might think about it............ and you might be surprised exactly how many keep editors on QA just so they have job security!

Get a grip this is the 21st century, it doesn't take a computer, and 2 more people to do a 2 minute report!  Oh and for all of you out there who do hourly QA and might want to respond, I've been hourly QA for 15 years, and my company has done exactly what I've described, we no longer have hourly QA, we do it all, and we make a fair hourly wage, plus incentive, and we have little to no turnover.  So been there, got the Tee shirt!

There is a poster here who responds to everything with the bridge comment. She probably switched to that one after the 'suit' comment got laughed off the boards. It's time for this one to go as well. What about comments with substance rather than one-liners? Anyone can be sarcastic. It takes no thought, no effort, and no intelligence to do name-calling or whip off a wisecrack. It does take some effort to present an idea and be able to communicate it effectively and defend your ideas with logic and good sense. It's so refreshing recently to see a few people who are able to use real sentences and thoughts to communicate. I hope that's a trend that catches on here.

Have encountered far too many managers throughout the years to be impressed by their so-called ''material''. Lack of tangible skills would be a more accurate description.

As with everything, there are really truly nice people with good skills and helpful attitudes, and then there are the people who are on the power trips, mainly because they've never been successful in anything in their lives and they finally have some power and they are, by golly, going to use it.

As an MT, I agree with the original message/poster. If I were a QA, I'd likely disagree. Everything is point of view, isn't it?

It has been my experience that the character of the QA at a given company can make a big difference as to whether a job is good versus bad. In some companies, QA run the show, and SOME QA really LOVE having that type of power, but use it in a negative way; it seems that they use the job as a way to work out other issues or events that have caused great anger/frustration in their lives, all to the detriment of the MTs. Maybe they have inferiority complexes and the POWER makes them feel superior to others in some sick kind of way.

At other MTSOs, QA are very helpful, informative and kind, with no personal agendas to motivate them.

The open letter lost credibility with the little one-liners, in my opinion - Lost me on that one

that they will be sending my MTSO a premium rebate that can be distributed by either lower future premiums or with a cash rebate.  The letter says we have to ask them how much they are getting for a rebate (good luck getting an answer to that question) and how they are going to be doing the distribution.  Anybody else get a letter like this?  Apparently, this is part of the ACA and is called the MLR (medical loss ratio).` ...

A few weeks ago, for no reason that I can find, I cannot get the first letter of a sentence to be in all caps automatically, (unless I do it manually.)  The same for the letter " I " by itself when typed.   It was always automatic and now all of a sudden it is doing this and I cannot figure out how to change it back. Anyone hear any rumblings yet about Open Enrollment?  Last year at this time we were already sent emails to "get ready" for it...so far this year, nothing.  I heard that other companies were making the spousal/partner "penalty" for not taking insurance was going to go up to $500!  We are now paying $100/month...let's hope that won't be the case, as that would essentially be one of my paychecks.  Wonder what surprises are in store for us.  Maybe we won' ...

I was on family UHC Choice and now being forced to MS HRA.  My deductable went from 1500 to 6000!!  Max out of pocket from 5000 to 20,000!!  Instead of paying a $25/50/100 copay for my doctor/specialist/ER visits, its 30% after the outrageous deductable.  But they cover routine physical 100% and they contribute $500...bah!  Fuming. ...
