An open letter to Transcend execs which is my opinion only - another one bites the dust

What a disappointment this MDI/Transcend merger has been and what an eye-opener.  It truly is all about corporate greed.  Your ambition to be #1 so that you can be bigger than Medquist is an all-consuming obsession that has resulted in your making drastic changes that will surely affect your reputation for quality down the road.  You are forcing high-paid MTs out of their positions to replace them with your overseas people and newbies who will work for less – but at what cost?  QUALITY.  That should be a priceless commodity.  Don't you realize that some of us are paid extremely well because of our expertise?  Have you ever heard the phrase "You get what you pay for?"  Do you think someone could replace YOU in your hierarchy position at a much lower salary?  Have you even considered that possibility and what it could do to your family if you have to take a pay cut or lose your position in this economy?  Of course not…it's all about money and bonuses for yourselves.  We former MDIer's heard all sorts of untruths about what this merger would bring – all it brought was cut after cut after cut and an abundance of emails from team leaders lamenting about things in the red….work more….stretch…where is everyone type of emails…. I finally cut my ties with you last week and feel like I have freedom again.  Yes, the position I took does pay less, but the peace of mind and lack of stress is worth much more.  Just remember, you reap what you sow.  Maybe The Q will buy YOU out at some point and all these realities will hit home.  If only…This is  just my opinion but I'm sticking to it. J

The pay cuts you are imposing are on the backs of the very people who keep you in business. Without the MTs there would be no Transcend, and maybe you guys should keep that in mind because Karma is a b*?#ch.

Well said, my friend. You have written the truth in a very poignant way. I think that one day the MDI execs who sold their best and brightest down the river WILL come to realize what they did. It's called KARMA, and it has a funny way of biting harshly and unexpectedly. Perhaps then and only then they will realize that MTs are humans, and humans are not machines to be used. One of these days it is going to be karmic PBT, just you watch. No one needs to wonder, worry or do anything. The universe will take care of it all.

I just wish the Universe would help me out with my - rent, gas, electric & grocery bills! RRaccoon

Would love to find something else, but so afraid that there would not be enough work at another company (afraid of being lied to again) to pay the bills. It really sucks when they call you and tell you that you are making too much money and that you have to take a line pay cut or you are out of a job. Not even 4 months after receiving our letters stating what are pay would be, and they pretty much give you an ultimatum of taking the lower pay or else while they sit on their butts enjoying their pay and bonuses. Yeah, I see where my loss of $100 a week went....to contests of getting your line count up and winning a gift card. It is such BS.

fired. Have you ever had 1 informational item that was correct the first time it was put out? Even the "QA and Education" director's tutorial on HIPAA has a big problem. You cannot access the test results so how do you know if you passed or failed. Every release of that crappy program has to be redone 10 times to get the errors out. And now we have a new employee manual and I am sure that if you try to go by anything in there that might benefit you, they will say that it is a typing error and does not apply. And you gotta love that payroll program. What a joke. Maybe SM needs to hire some one besides her buddies for these jobs.

My sentiments exactly!! I guess we both left at the same time, and I posted several notes about this here at that time. It is all about corporate greed, and they don't care how many MTs they hurt, and the anguish this has caused for so many people. They sent me a copy of what I would have to sign, and at the end it says that "you will not hold Transcend accountable in any way, nor take any litigation against the company." This is just part of it, but whey should they put this disclaimer in the letter if they did not have something to fear, and I bet there have been quite a few people that have taken out lawsuits against this company. I just hope they get what they so rightfully deserve.

They sent me a form by mail after I was terminated and said that I should be receiving this by mail and it has to be signed and returned to them.
They sent me the same letter. I don't know about you - X2

but I am not sending it back. There was not a self-addressed stamped envelope, not that I would have sent it back anyway.

Someday, if there is a class action suit, I want to be part of it.

You all have it reversed for VR.   Those of us that do the VR editing should be paid the hourly wage, not the QA people!  We take this abysmal voice that comes in, turn it into something that can be understood, and is perfectlly fine for the patient's chart, but then you want QA to get a hold of it, pay them $12-15 an hour to make is a pretty report, hey who's doing all the work here!  I want to be paid $12 to 15 an hour to fill in the blanks, put in commas, periods ...

A few weeks ago, for no reason that I can find, I cannot get the first letter of a sentence to be in all caps automatically, (unless I do it manually.)  The same for the letter " I " by itself when typed.   It was always automatic and now all of a sudden it is doing this and I cannot figure out how to change it back. Anyone hear any rumblings yet about Open Enrollment?  Last year at this time we were already sent emails to "get ready" for it...so far this year, nothing.  I heard that other companies were making the spousal/partner "penalty" for not taking insurance was going to go up to $500!  We are now paying $100/month...let's hope that won't be the case, as that would essentially be one of my paychecks.  Wonder what surprises are in store for us.  Maybe we won' ...

Patient actually opted for endoscopic intervention, and risks for complication, including, but not limited to, infection, bleeding, and ureteral injury requiring a s/l medial to delayed open repair, were discussed. I was on family UHC Choice and now being forced to MS HRA.  My deductable went from 1500 to 6000!!  Max out of pocket from 5000 to 20,000!!  Instead of paying a $25/50/100 copay for my doctor/specialist/ER visits, its 30% after the outrageous deductable.  But they cover routine physical 100% and they contribute $500...bah!  Fuming. ...

I would like you to understand that I work because I have to, not because I want to.  I was hired for a specific shift, yet there is no work on that shift.  I have to flex sometimes up to 12 hours a day to get my required line quota or take a chance on not having benefits, please understand that I do have a life other than working for your company.  My question I guess is why do you overhire?  I know this is a 24/7 business but if you did not hire so many people then the work ...
