Does anybody have any real information about what happened to this account? I've been told for 3 weeks now to flex my schedule because "work is low." I check for work throughout the day but never get any jobs. Is anybody getting any work anymore? I don't think Chicago is actually dictating anything anymore but I have no way to prove that, and I'm so sick of being lied to by these companies.

I appreciate your frustration. I was on a different account when work started running out several times a day. It wasn't clear to me what had happened (conflicting stories). Finally I got tired of waiting for work and flexing, so I left. It's my opinion that they're hoping most people will just give up and leave quietly without causing problems and without filing for unemployment.

There are earlier posts here specifically about Chicago that may prove helpful.

I enjoyed working for this company for quite a long time. Things changed overnight.

Thanks for responding. I believe your opinion is right and they just want to "string us out," hope we quit, and don't have to haggle about unemployment. All I want is somebody to tell me the truth, but I'm realizing that won't happen. I liked the company too, but things have definitely changed. I really don't know how all these managers and other higher ups sleep at night after lying all day long and taking away someone's income without even a clue that's about to happen. It's a disgusting business and I wish I'd never done it, but live and learn, and now it's time to give it up. I don't care what job I get next and if I have to start at the bottom, then that's what I'll do, but I will not give my skill and knowledge and ability to any other transcription company ever. My life has been chaos for at least the last 5 years, having a "schedule" but having to "make up time" so it just seems like you're working all the time, no life, don't make any plans, no holidays. If it paid what it did when I started, at least it would almost be worth it, but now it's just a paycheck that I can get at some braindead job. It's just hurtful that you really try to do a good job and people just lie to you. What ever happened to honesty? If your job is gone, shouldn't you just be laid off? It's just like a game to see who will give up first and I know I won't be the winner. Very very sad situation.

unemployment. I think the rules are different, depending on the state you live in. Could you possibly do that? I really feel for you. Your post struck a nerve for me as I feel the same way about integrity and honesty gone in this business now. I reall don't know how these people can feel comfortable within themselves.

I don't know how these people sleep at night. Seriously. If I held a position that required me to deceive people day in and day out, I would have to leave. It's as if they think they'll never be held accountable.

For the record, I don't think it's this employer's fault that clients are trying to cut costs and utilizing technology to do so. I know that the quality of work we gave them was excellent, and TATs were usually great; however, the MTs deserve to know the truth, even when it's unpleasant. Apparently the company doesn't think so.

To both previous posters, yes I can file for unemployment in my state in a situation where your work is taken away through no fault of your own. I am looking into how to proceed on this. And I also agree that I don't blame the employer for a decision the facility made. I think it was handled very badly and the MTs absolutely deserve to hear the truth. They are treating my job like it's a game. They starve me out until I quit and they "win," or I take the actions to get unemployment benefits that I deserve because the work I was hired to do does not exist anymore and is not being replaced, then I "win." If you were working at any other job in this country and your job was "phased out" or whatever, then you would be laid off. No transcription company wants to pay unemployment. They want us to do the work that generates income for us and them, and when that work is gone with no warning, they try to wait you out until you quit. So breaking this down, the MTs bring in the money that pays all of the higher-ups paychecks, all the payroll people, QA staff, etc., anyone who is not transcribing reports, and then they don't want to give us unemployment when a client goes a different route. We're paying their checks, the client leaves, we get nothing. The greed of these people is staggering.

Anyone know what is going on with Medscribe? There has been little to no work for weeks now with promises of more work coming in. I know they have lost a few accounts but even the accounts still there seem to be dictating a lot less than what they normally do so I wonder if they are headed on their way out too. Archives are divided -- half happy and treated well and doing the work they expected to do, paid on time, good benefits. Other half got jerked around a bit, given different kinds of work than expected, said line counts are incorrect, missed a couple of paychecks (which is strange since they do direct deposit - maybe they didn't back then.) I've been with Mediscribe, New Jersey for quite sometime as an MT. They have always been just nice people to work for. This company was on my list of companies to apply to because of positive comments posted here. I just went to their website to start the process, and this is listed under "Employee Benefits:" Taxes paid -- employer portion It is right there in the midst of vision, dental, health insurance, etc.!
