Anything new/up-to-date on MedScribe, FL ? - I read the Archives already

Posted: Jan 28, 2011

Archives are divided -- half happy and treated well and doing the work they expected to do, paid on time, good benefits.    Other half got jerked around a bit, given different kinds of work than expected, said line counts are incorrect, missed a couple of paychecks (which is strange since they do direct deposit - maybe they didn't back then.)  Thanks.

Actually, I had already read this article. A - previous poster linked it.

That poster had a negative reaction to this article. I didn't. Sounds like a good solid businessman who is keeping his company strong in hard times, whole family is involved in it, he's an accountant, his wife has health records experience. He hires only US transcriptionists, the pay is decent and they recognize the CMT.

The article is great. What I want to know is:
1. Do they actually put you on the type of accounts that you discuss with the recruiter ? Or does something else happen entirely ?
2. Is it true they move you, as one previous poster in the archives said, to more and more difficult accounts until you are practically doing all ESL ?
3. Is it true that if your account "dries up" they don't have any backup work to give you on other accouns ?
4. Do they frequently have "no jobs available" periods and if so how is that situation dealt with ?

Try it out if you were impressed by the article. If you feel the pay is decent...sm - ndmt68

and the company is strong all you can do is try it out yourself.

When I left the offer for employee status was 7 CPL with 0.5 cpl for the first incentive tier and another 0.5 cpl for the next. That was doing a heavy, heavy ESL account or what they called Tier 3 work. I, see though, on their website they are extolling the virtues of VBC as costing a hospital 33% less - so I am not sure if they do VBC now and what that compensation might be.

As for your questions:

"No" to #1. I had an account I loved and got moved to a heavy, heavy ESL account. (this was the Indian one - there is a Hispanic one) I didn't ask for a change, didn't want a change, and I never could go back to the account I was hired for.

"Yes" to #2. Their largest accounts are the heavy, heavy ESL accounts. Everyone ends up there sometime unless you are barely making your line count.

"No" to #3 mostly. Everyone can back into the heavy, heavy ESL accounts. After enough time, though, those could become depleted, too.

#4 will depend on how many accounts and which accounts you do. I was trained on 10 accounts, 4 of which I could really produce on. I was told by my supervisor that the MTs who rarely ran out of work were on one of the heavy, heavy ESL accounts. However, I only did about 100 to 150 lph on those. I guess if minimum wage doesn't work for you, the "otherwise" is to wait around for work in the accounts you can get your production up in. The best accounts did tend to run out a lot.

Just a caution. You do realize Mr. Langley is not going to let them print an article that makes him sound bad, don't you?

I thought he sounded like a smug control freak. If you're not paying me by the hour, sm - JMO

why do you need spyware installed on my computer to tell you if I take my hands off the keyboard for 5 minutes? No thanks. I interviewed with them a few years ago and the pay was on the low end. I guess none of us have to be impressed by him because he seems pretty impressed with himself for all of us. But that's just me. I know jobs are tight and no doubt he will find people willing to work for him.

Heavy ESL makes production slow. Lots of "flexing time" which makes a true schedule not possible, may end up working 7 days just to get in 40 hours, even with more than 7 accounts. One tech guy, so very slow response time if you have issues. ChartNet is okay when it works, weekly issues common. Recruiter was not available for the interview he scheduled, ChartNet material not sent by e-mail in time for training. Very short notice for changes they wish to make such as health insurance or payroll admnistration.

Thank you. - 2 questions

[ In Reply To ..]
Is the "flexing" time due to no work periods ?
Is the ESL mainly Indian or Hispanic ?

Answer to 2 questions - buns

[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, the "flexing" is due to no work. ESL varies greatly, depends on account. Of course, there are many rotten English speakers as well.

my impression is - tried

I had a similar experience. Very nice people, but in the first 2 weeks, I ran out of work on approximately 5 of those days. I only had 2 accounts, both heavy ESLs and a lot of going back and forth to get info. Normally, I am fairly fast, but I just could not get my speed up to what I was used to on these accounts. I am sure I could have gotten better if I stuck it out longer, but my budget could not handle the running out of work part. I think if you are very flexible and can alter your work hours to meet the workload and are willing to put in some real training time, you can probably make it work. Best of luck!

Thank you to all of you. I needed to decide - if I was going to leave

[ In Reply To ..]
where I am now or go with ES. The reason I would be leaving where I am now is ESL and only one account. I assumed I would have more accounts at ES and therefore less ESL and never run out of work ! The answers I have gotten as well as what I found in the archives pretty much contradict that.
Thanks everyone. Guess I will stay right where I am for fear of landing somewhere worse. Although they certainly do look good, sound good on paper and on the phone.

OOW constantly! - shmommy

I work for Medscribe currently and I am constantly running out of work. It used to be just a couple days a week and only a few hours here and there and now it's sometimes all 5 days I work. We are told to call CSR and then flex. I don't have enough time on the days they want me to flex to get all the OOW time in. I asked about switching over to different accounts and was told then they would have to fill my spot, but I see another website they have ads wanting to hire people. I was told too that they were already overstaffed on my shift/hours and they threw me into other accounts because of that. I don't mind flexing if I can, but when I flex and there's still no more work, then that's a problem.

Why Is It VR Can't Even Get The Date Right?
Apr 09, 2015

VR is such a bad joke, I've corrected such stupid mistakes it's not funny.  It can't even get the date right, always is 2013 instead of 2015.  Seems like that's a no brainer.  Guess not.  Just needed to vent.  ...

Write Out Date?
Mar 06, 2010

Does anyone know if there is a new rule in MQ land about never writing out the date, always making it numbers only?  I get back reports every once in a while with all the written dates crossed out and replaced with numbers yet the CP does not specify either way.  So, when a doctor states March 3, 2010..that is how I type it, if he states 03/03/2010, that is how I type it.  I am going to complain to my manager about this but I was wondering maybe I missed a new rule.  Tha ...

Question About The Date
Jun 23, 2010

In transcription, when a doctor dictates 12/4 or December 4th what is the correct way to type this? I need this information when I'm taking a test to find a job because the doctor has not been giving the year and from what information I've read I should type out the date as December 4th??   Another question I have is on a test if the doctor transcribes out of order such as first he says medications, and then next he says social history, and then next he says chief complaint, do ...

Anyone Remember The Date?
Apr 18, 2012

When was it they "capped" our pay, giving most of us a pay cut?  I meant to write it down (don't know why, but I usually record these things), but I never did and can't find the cheery e-mail informing us of our "new" rates!  I have all my pay stubs, but they're basically indecipherable. Anyone remember what month that was?     ...

They Can't Even Get The Date Right In Remedy For NJA.
Mar 02, 2013

Time zone isn't the problem. Time displayed for a ticket matches my time zone. The date is tomorrow's date, and you can't enter today's date for the ticket because it won't accept a ticket date prior to the 'expected date' (tomorrow). Can't change the expected date field either. Guess I should have filed my NJA for today yesterday ;) as there aren't any jobs for me today. Cover my butt for the mismatched date of NJA versus the true date ...

Q.E.D. Wants My Birth Date
Jul 14, 2013

I started the application for Q.E.D. Transcription and saw that the initial section requires a birth date. It won't stop me from applying, but isn't that a form of discrimination? Why Can't Client Profiles Be Kept Up To Date!

Pay Date Schedule And DD Questions - Sm

I've been with Transcend just a few weeks.  I know my questions were addressed during training but I guess I was on "info overload" and I can't find answers in my notes either.  Where can I find the pay schedule with pay period and direct deposit dates?  Also, where can I view my "paystub" for direct deposit?  There is nothing about this on the ADP TimeSaver site where you enter hours.  There is an "ADP Self Service" link on the MLS website.  But I evident ...
