I would not capitalize - police officers

Others may offer different advice, though.

Here is my reasoning: If the phrase had been "officers of the Chicago Police Department...", that would not require capitalization of "officers". Therefore, without the entire proper department title, the word "police" does not require capitalization either as it is modifying "officers" rather than part of the proper name of a city department.

Police officers, no. Police Dept, yes, in this case. - nm

Jan 20, 2010

If anyone has information, advice or other helpful links regarding transitioning from medical transcription to law enforcement/police transcription (or maybe even criminal justice?), I would be happy to receive it.  With MT job searches pretty much limited to mostly nationals, it is very difficult to find those smaller companies that value their employees, pay a decent rate (0.09+) and have consistent work. (Where does one find them?) ...
