Keystrokes recent employees - past and current - Me
Posted: Mar 29, 2011
If anyone who recently worked for Keystrokes or still works for them who worked overtime without getting paid for it, please let me know.
Thanks.
Anyone who ever answered the call for help/incentive...sm - just sayin

If you work every day full time (they only hire full time people) and then are told they need help and ask everyone to do more, or give incentive or send gift cards to do more, that is overtime. They try to say it is not overtime if you have not done the required lines, but most people cannot or do not do the lines required. There is overtime worked for every MTSO - it is the beast of the industry. But, when you consider how many times the work is not there, is it really fair to sue or cry foul when the work is there and you are asked to do it to keep the account from going into default. It is like wanting the cake and eating it too. If we try to fry the MTSO from within, we will be cooking in the same oil when the industry fails.
We do get paid overtime. I always do when I work extra. sm - You are trying to stir up trouble for no reason

If you work overtime for Keystrokes, you are paid 1.5x your rate. I have been on an account that has been overtime often over the past few years, and we always get paid.

Not everyone gets overtime pay for the overtime they put in at Keystrokes. If you don't have an issue with them, then don't worry about it.
ALWAYS OVERTIME - NO OVERTIME FOR ME

If you got overtime you are lucky. I received calls and asked to work over and to work weekends and when asked if I would get overtime was told they would find someone else. I have never been paid overtime, don't assume everyone does.
I NEVER EVER got paid OT and I worked a lot of OT. - No longer a KSer
[ In Reply To ..]
I no longer work there, but not once was OT ever mentioned to me and I didn't mention it to them either. I was frequently asked to work my days off, and I always did, but no once was I paid OT. Not once did I get a thank you, a gift card, etc. I did get a paycheck, though it was late a couple of times.
KS wasn't the worst place I ever worked, but they do have their issues. I think there have been enough posts about various issues that it is not one person trying to stir the pot. There have always been MTs very loyal to KS and if you dare utter anything bad, you couldn't produce the lines, you wouldn't work your shift, you didn't produce a quality product, etc. None of those applied to me and I left voluntarily for a combination of reasons. I've even been asked to come back. I have no plans to go back at this time because my current position is better all the way around than what KS offers, but I might work for them again, so I am not out to stir the pot, and have nothing to gain or lose by telling my truth. What someone else has experienced I can't speak for them, but I know what happened in my case.

I would like to know where the GOOD companies are. Who recommends their company? I am seriously looking!
The Keystrokes bashing is getting out of hand. sm - Happy KS MT

There are hundreds of us who are happy there. If you have an issue, think you have not been paid something you feel you should, wouldn't your first contact be with the company? I have worked there a several years, and they are very fair. If you have worked OT, they pay it. Have you brought it up to them? You will probably save yourself a lot of headaches to go directly to them. A lawsuit usually takes time and money and very rarely are they paid, especialy if the company can prove that they do pay overtime.
I used to work for a large law firm that handled employment law, before I became a transcriptionist, and the first advice from them was always for the employee to contact the employer before going through the courts.
I'm just saying, this is gettng a little crazy.
Some things are about more than the money. - Sometimes it is the principles.

I actually did seek legal counsel about my treatment at Keystrokes.
For me the issue was more about the treatment I received (deceptions, lack of compassion, benefits etc.) during a very difficult time. I wanted to start a new chapter of my life so I did not pursue this avenue --I just moved on.
However, I was advised I would be probably be eligible not only for back wages but "pain and suffering". This was after legal examination of quite of few emails which were quite threatening, derogatory, and also unjustified.
I am still not sure if I did the right thing or if I should have stood up for myself and others to come.
Congratuations that you are happpy! However, not everyone is treated fairly.

I have worked overtime a lot over the past 2 months - account has been getting way behind over and over. I have always been paid for the O/T and even had some extra incentive added in there recently!
What account would that be? - WorkerBee

EVERYONE I know who works for KS doesn't have enough work. Yet you seem to have an abundance... That doesn't make any sense.
AMEN TO THAT - NEEDS MORE WORK

I want that account. I am sitting here for 7 hours and only 43 reports, what gives? I say share the wealth.
It is a "don't ask/don't tell policy." - probably same everywhere
[ In Reply To ..]
They don't ask if you have already reached your 40 hours and don't really want to know. That way, they can "assume" you had not and you can get extra lines if you want them. However, if it is going to put you over 40 hours and you tell, you will be "passed by" for working extra. For those who need the money, it is an opportunity to get more lines. Remember the old rule in MT - if you want a raise, type more lines.
Hours vs. lines - Agree-able

Some companies have time clocks, which eliminates this entire issue...over 40 is over 40.

Even tho i was just let go along with a lot of other transcriptionists, I was always paid for my overtime PLUS the incentives for gift cars to Walmart accummulated about $275.00 in three weeks of work. Now I need a radiology job... ugg
How many is a lot? Did they do a lay off? sm - Curious
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't work for KS, but I was laid off from Webmedx several months ago. I just applied to KS yesterday, hoping to get hired. I have several friends who work there and tell me that they have enough work but now I keep seeing posts that say that they do not and I'm scared.
Too many companies are laying people off, and it seems that all companies are out of work. Is there anywhere that has work? Anywhere worth working? I love transcription and I love radiology, now I am really confused.
You don't have to have a lawsuit. All you need to do is - not interested

contact the Labor Board and they will do the rest. BTDT with a previous company.
I don't get it. Are they out of work or do they not pay overtime? sm - Confused

If there is no work, how is there overtime? Something sounds fishy here.
I must work for a different Keystrokes, because I have neither of these.

They are MANY different accounts, some have work, some do not.
Wondering if anyone has been let go because of sending over 8% of work to QA. They expect our line count to be at least 135 an hour (which for the most part is easily done), our accuracy to be 98+ and under 8% to QA. Sometimes this is not possible. I do everything I can to not send to QA (relisten, utilize google, books, relisten, adjust speed/sound, did I mention relisten, relisten, relisten).....but lets face it there are a boatload of dictators that are just impossible.  ...
Has anyone received their "follow-up call" yet to the survey the employees were asked to fill out over four months ago now? We were again assured about a month ago that this would be made a top priority.
Also, is anyone else typing on a radiology account right now at the $1/report rate? Just curious if anyone would be willing to share on average how many reports they are typing in a pay period at this rate. ...
Keystrokes had an ad on 9/25 and was wondering how they are to work for. The recent posts are talking about not getting paid on time, etc. Any feedback would be very much appreciated. I'm just curious because I'm actively looking for anything other than this MT crap. On my main account, most of this a.m. no work. Now all of a sudden there's work plus they want me to move to another count to help out. Why didn't you need my help this morning? Sorry, but my shift ends now and I'm outta here. It seems every day there are people quitting - I can't wait to jump on that band wagon. :) ...

I will be interviewing soon for a position at Accentus. Since they are a part of Nuance, I thought I would post my questions here. I want to get the opinions of any current workers. I have an interviewed set up for Wednesday. From what I've read, I would prefer getting a job elsewhere but when you have bills to pay that's not always a viable option if nothing else comes along.1. I've read thru the archives and didn't find a lot of recent info on Diskriter. I've been offered a position with them and would like to hear the pros/cons, good/bad/ugly from current or former employees about this company and what it's really like to work for them. The recruiter sounds great, but I know that doesn't mean a lot in the big picture.

I've worked here since the start of the DMT project. I was hired by the person in charge of the project, but have had to deal with the CEO a few times during the past few months.
