over 26 years of experience, i have three jobs and guess what? NO WORK, NO WORK, NO WORK!!!!! How does one meet their financial needs when you cannot make a living off of 3 JOBS???????? I am working vr on one of them and just started so I am not making diddly there. So I have two part-times to supplement, but still NO WORK!! I JUST WANT TO TYPE!!!!! I JUST WANT TO PAY MY BILLS!!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!!

Iunderstand. My account is slow, they gave me a secondary account and it doesn't even have any work. I'm thinking it is about to hang up this transcription thing. I've been doing it for 16 years at home now and it seems to be going downhill!

a living doing this job is over. Despite the people working at Transcend (I just saw one poster who worked 6 accounts, 5 of which would not be her primary so she has no problem taking the work of others), there is no work. And despite the Advocate from Transcend (if Transcend ranks were in cards she would be the joker), that's not going to change. They send as much as they can overseas and send more all the time. So, myself, I'm looking for another occupation other than a lowly paid typist.

you can find an occupation where you can make the same amount of money or will you have to work two jobs in order to make what you made at transcription?

transcription so I don't have any lower to go. Walmart and Target each give a 10% discount so I am looking at them. Since I have lost my "benefits" from Transcend due to lack of work, I look at the 10% discount as a good benefit. No point in living in the past and staying just because this used to be a good occupation. Time to move on and be realistic, at least for me. I was talking to my neighbor who baby sits for a living and was telling her I needed to make $1800 a month in order to keep my benefits. She said $1800 is hard to live on. I have years of experience and expertise I'm not giving it to Transcend just so they can cut me off at the knees. And if I work for Walmart, I don't even have to be friendly. At least the Walmart around here. How can I make less money working for them when I make no salary at Trancend? Guess I am living in the wrong country if I want to work for them.

That was me that works 6 accounts, and yes, one is my primary. No, I don't mind "taking work from others" if that is how you would like to see it. All of my primary's work goes to others now, and this is how I get work (to make well over the minimum required per pay period). Believe me, it was no picnic learning all the different accounts, and has slowed me down, and I would have much preferred to stay on my one account, but things change, and I go with the flow.

If you were presented with the option, I am sure you would "take work from others" to keep your income.

and I am very disappointed in the lack of work/no work. We used to be swamped. I really like working for them, too. Anyone know what is going on with them?

I am a lead and am seeing the slow down on 2 of the 3 accounts I have under me. sm - KSMTS

I have 3 accounts under me. Two are total outsource, one we share with 3 in-house transcriptionists. Two are slow and one is busy but not more than usual. There is just not as much dictation coming through. I have talked to both my manager at KS and one of the in-house transcriptionists, and no one knows why it is slow. We were busy in January when it usually slow, so go figure.

If you work there, talk to your lead. I moved the schedule around on one of the accounts and it is working for everyone now, full time lines even though barely full time.

I know there are new accounts coming in radiology and one in acute care, but I have heard no news on clinic accounts.

Our profession is scary right now, but I think it will pick up soon. If you are FT at KS, talk to your lead and if that doesn't work, call B in HR or K. They may be able to help.

I wish the economy would pick up. My husband has been out of work for 9 months with no job in sight. Unfortunately, he is union and has few options.

I've worked from home before but had to work full-time from home and part time at the hospital just to pay the bills then ended up quitting at home and went back to the hospital full time because I could make more money working from the hospital 40 hours than working 60 hours between the two. I have had it..The past 2 paychecks I made approximately $200.00 less..constantly getting work I have never done before from hospitals I have never done because there is no work in my hospitals, constantly having to run searches in DoQManage for reports because I have never done those hospitals before..then we are told there is a certain amount of lines/hour we have to do..there is NOT enough time in an hour to do all this plus transcribe. I type my butt off full time and don't make anywhere close to $2k a month. This is the first time I've gotten to see it since it's the first time they've had enough work for me to make my line count. They don't pay for spaces, plus they have a weird way of counting lines. Time to send out resumes. I am not typing my way into carpal tunnel for this pittance they call a paycheck. I just started about 3 weeks ago part time doing radiology in Powerscribe at 0.045 cents a line. Is there any way to make money at this? I'm used to making around $20 an hour, and I'm making about $4 an hour now, wondering if it gets better or if it is worth my time. Thanks for any input!! ...

So I have been working for private doctors for the past few years. Prior to that I worked for national companies doing straight transcription. Rates back then were 8 to 10 cpl, with 8 cpl being pretty low. Now 8 cpl seems to be where companies tap off. Those of you who claim to make TONS OF MONEY TYPING.... You are not straight typing MTs under regular circumstances IF I believe you...and I don't. When did hospital jobs get almost as bad as working for a service? When I have had hospital MT jobs before, we were either paid hourly, or hourly base pay plus incentive. It was possible to make $22 to $25 an hour.
