Global Information Systems-GIS? - any info?

thanks.

Does anyone do well with this company? - No GIS for me!

Maybe some people have had good experiences with this company, but not me! This is my experience. I was hired at 5, yes 5 cpl. I normally would have hung up on the person, BUT this pay was rationalized to me. I was told that at LEAST 50% of the lines were pull in lines, so technically I would be getting paid for half of the report that I did not type, so therefore it was really 10 cpl if you looked at it that way. Okay, so I bit, hook, line and sinker!

First of all, there are pull in lines, but to say half is a huge stretch! I would say maybe a quarter of the lines are pull in. BUT, in order to pull these lines in, it is a very cumbersome procedure in which it takes LOADS OF TIME. As much time as it takes to pull in the few lines, I honestly could have typed them faster! Meaning, 5 cpl is what you get, plain and simple.

Secondly, you are hired as an IC and told you have no schedule to adhere to, but then they send you CONSTANT emails advising you that you MUST let them know if you have an appointment or are not at work for whatever reason. It is not true IC status for sure. I don't mean not meeting your own TAT, but if you finish your work, you are STILL required to sit and type other accounts that you are not even assigned to.

They take the harder dictators and assign their work to you, on top of what you already have to do. One of the other selling points of this company was you get one or two doctors and they are YOUR doctors, so of course you would make more money that way. BUT, that is not true. They daily assign different doctors to you and you must type their reports and it is never the same doctors.

I personally could not stay there, as I made NO money. I felt like I worked entirely too hard for the little money I received. The bosses of the company are MTs themselves and it would seem that they would realize that we cannot work for pennies, but I guess not.

I like GIS - MT

I don't know about the acute care side, but I'm on the Oncology side. It's all clinic notes, not a bunch of different work types. I like having my own doctors to type. You get used to what they are saying and to me it's much more efficient than typing 50 or 100 different doctors. I do have lots of templates and pull-ins, so the low line rate is offset by all the "free" lines. Yes, when I originally heard the line rate I was ready to hang up, but for the first time in a while I'm finally making a decent paycheck. My bosses are very nice and there's lots of communication... not like my last company where nobody ever heard from anyone.

I know everyone's experience is different, and it may be different if you get on a different account from the one I'm on. But I would recommend you give it a try. You just might be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck!

your last company must have Speechmotion - aka meridian...nm

I worked for them too on the oncology accounts. They were very nice to work for, pay was on time, and I had dedicated doctors, which was nice because I did not have to work from a pool and I had work every day. I did not give it enough of a chance because I thought 5 cpl was too low. I think if I would have stayed, all of the other perks such as pull-in lines, dedicated doctors, etc., would have made up for the higher CPL rate elsewhere when you factor in working from a large pool of different doctors, heavy account specs, and running out work all the time with pooled work.

to MTmom6... why don't you give them a call? Maybe they would take you back. nm - MT

Check out the updated sticky on the Job Seekers Board posting - guidelines for employers
[ In Reply To ..]
updated just recently. The new acceptable lowest cpl offer for posting on this site is now 5 cpl (3 cpl VR)!
Actually... I'm not sure if the sticky was updated recently - sm

Sorry about that. Not enough coffee and read the date incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure the last time I checked it, the lowest was 6 cpl. Either way, 5 cpl is an acceptable offer on this site.

Global Information Systems (GIS)

Can someone that works or has worked for GIS please explain this to me? I was offered a position for straight typing at GIS.  I was told that the pay is only 5 cpl, despite years of experience.  I was told by the recruiter that it is 90% template work and my average pay would be 15 cpl and that is why they could only offer the 5 cpl. Is this true?  I really need a job, but can't imagine how to make money with 5 cpl. ...

Anything About Global Information Systems
Mar 25, 2013

I saw a message asking if anyone knew anything about Global informations Systems. I worked for them in the past. My advice is to not take a job with them. They never give raises and the line count pay is so low it is rediculous. They outsource to India. Lastly the training they provide is nonexistent. You will also not be paid for any testing you perform. ...

GLOBAL INFO SYSTEMS (GIS)
Jul 03, 2012

Need recent info on GIS please. Just been contacted by them for an IC position, straight typing @.05 a line! When I asked why so low, I was informed there is a ton of docs, work and a lot of repetition in the templates, so they feel you are getting a lot of free lines! That being said, I'm still shocked that these companies continue to go lower and lower on the line rates! Considering I have been an MT over 20 years, this is crazy to me, but I did read a couple of old posts here that this i ...

Superior Global Systems Unscrupulous
Oct 29, 2011

Worked for Superior Global Systems out of Texas 2 years ago--hired full-time, benefits, etc. HR said there was tons of work and that soon the real "floodgates would open" and there'd be even more work on a new account for which they were hiring. Ha! There was no work. Period. Supervisor stated there had just been a "lull" in new account work just as I was hired, but it would be resolved shortly...it was resolved all right--after "working" or scrambling/"fighting" with other newly hired fool ...

Global Info Systems Deceiving On DoD Contract Statement And Others
Jan 23, 2014

The statement they posted earlier in MTStars about the Dept of Defense is incorrect.  DPTS won the contract.  Global is a "subcontractor" of DPTS.  Therefore, DPTS is 1 of 4 companies proven, not GIS.  Also, it shows on the website that the CEO is Indian and their other office is in India, so yes, it is OWNED by an Indian.  Also, they started out in the post stating "THEY" and "anonymous" then put "See you at the conference", etc.  Shows that you are the m ...
