Does anyone have any input on Q.E.D. - transcription service ?

Does anyone work for Q.E.D. ? Their job posting sounds too good to be true -- and no offshoring:

[ In Reply To ..]If this is the company in Arkansas (there is another in NY with the same name), they have an extremely impressive web site! They had advertised once before, in all the years that I have been frequenting this site and I remember at that time that some people had applied. They require a speed typing test and a written test, and from what I remember in their last posting, some transcriptionists found it difficult to complete. They even have a video on their site. Check them out, and let us know how you do with their testing, if you decide to try it.
About QED... tested for them, sent 2 emails, do not - know whether I passed or not

They only have employee positions and honestly during the interview the HR person asked me if I had children and stated I couldn't do the job with kids running around (as if I don't already know that?). Their website states they have flexibility ... well once you set your hours, they don't want you to deviate more than 15 minutes. However, it's an employee position so I can understand they have a right to request that. What really bothered me is asking if I have kids. I didn't want to lie so I replied that I have one son but have already made arrangements for his care during work hours. I really wanted to tell her it's basically illegal to ask me that (not really illegal but she could set her company up for a discrimination lawsuit) but I wanted the job so I didn't.
What I REALLY didn't like about this company is their line rate wasn't the best (can't remember now what it was) but it is their character counts ... if you type behavioral health/psych, it's an 80 character line ... she actually said because it's "easier" than the other areas! Really? No you're still not researching drugs, medical conditions? I forget the next dept but that was like a 70 character line and then the last was 65 character line. BUT she also stated that they start EVERYONE in behavioral health and then "once you prove yourself" you can move onto other areas when an opening comes up. No thank you.

[ In Reply To ..]I'm not sure who you spoke with or when this was, but it is not accurate that everyone starts in BH at QED. Transcriptionists with acute care experience are certainly welcome to begin employment with QED in the acute care department.
It is not illegal to ask about family situations; however, it is correct that it is illegal to discriminate based on these situations. QED does not do that and can easily demonstrate that fact. One of the attractions of the transcription field is the inherent ability to schedule to accommodate family situations, and QED fully recognizes this.
I believe that behavioral health is, in fact, something that can be transcribed much more quickly than say acute care, simply because there is apt to be more straight prose type of dictation than will be encountered in operative reports, for example.
I hope this clarifies things.

We only have 3.?? hours every pay period of PTO until after 4 years with the company. I was off last week and for each day for PTO I indicated 7 hours per day. This will give me 1 extra day of PTO over the year at 7 hours pay. I do not know if that is allowed, they may require us to indicate 8 if we took the whole day off. Will see what happens about that. I am doing a lot of cancer clinic notes today (very long reports). They all have lots of dates in them due to the various tests and treatments the patients have had. This particular facility wants the dates typed out in XX/XX/XXXX fashion; however ASR types them out the long way, i.e., August 26, 2010, so I have to change them all to fit the client profile.
