They offered me a starting rate of 6 cents per line, plus they charge YOU to use THEIR system. Nuh-unh.

Medquist offered a better starting rate, but I wound up going with yet another company that offered me better hours. I know a lot of people gripe about Medquist but a friend of a relative of mine is actually happy working there, so not EVERYONE hates it.

I used to work for MQ a good while back and I liked them just fine then, but had a friend who did not have a good experience with them. I think it depends on the office you get I guess and I think the office I was with is nonexistent now. I just wondered if much had changed with them.

I did not realize Fastchart charges for using their system!! Will have to go back and re-read things yet again. Thanks.

Fast Chart has a tiered payment program where you get a higher rate once you produce more lines. However, there are stumbling blocks in your path to that goal, such as lack of work, more difficult dictators added in to your queue, etc. Of course, this is not much different than how it is with other companies.

Fast Chart also manipulates the work in real time. You may get hired for a nice, new account, and be working away at it, thinking that you have landed in MT heaven, when suddenly, without your knowledge, find that the nice jobs have disappeared and you have been changed to an account that is not as new or nice, while the company is actively advertising for new hires for that new, nice account.

they cut my pay from 9 cents down to 7 for ERs, and then I wanted to do OPs which I do all the time - mqmt

reports by a horrible dictator,they told me I couldn't do Op notes and they fired me. Not a good place to work. Also a couple of years ago they fired all the "older employes who had been there a while" people in the company. I am sure it was because they were trying to save money. That is the bottom line for all companies now. It is always about the money!

I think they want machines, not human beings.

After having my eyes pried open and my vision made crystal clear, based on their latest demonstration of lack of respect, I am now, this minute, in the process of downloading another program for possibly making money with my computer. If it doesn't work, I will get my money back, but I figure it is worth a try.

This business of being mistreated by MTSOs is not the life for me. It's still unbelievable to me what STUFF these companies get away with in their treatment of employees and ICs.

I got a job offer from both companies today. One is for night's with much better pay and the other is during the day with some weekend hours in a month, but really low start out pay. I applied to Fast Chart, tested and then was offered a position. So, I read their contract and got to the fees section. I knew they charged a 7.50 fee for not meeting your line requirement, but then there was going to be another fee after you had been there for 90 days. This fee is calculated using some kind of formula 40.00 - (A/B)*40....A is number of lines you actually transcribed and B is the Line requirement and then there is another formula to calculate edited lines. ...

One company to stay away from is Fast Chart, but they OVERHIRE BIG TIME, and you cannot make a living, always running out of work, they ask for shifts, but it's a free for all, and they even posted in their newsletter and congats to a VR editor or edited 53,000 lines in a pay period! I have worked for this company for 6 months, and I am about to quit. I was reading some posts about Fast Chart Transcription were people said they were getting 7 cents a line with them. I don't know when that was, but she started me at 3 cents a line. We only have 3.?? hours every pay period of PTO until after 4 years with the company. I was off last week and for each day for PTO I indicated 7 hours per day. This will give me 1 extra day of PTO over the year at 7 hours pay. I do not know if that is allowed, they may require us to indicate 8 if we took the whole day off. Will see what happens about that.
