Is any one else getting the feeling that no one cares about us at Transcend?  No one ever says thank you anymore unless it is one of those "oh, hum, guess maybe we better toss the whole crew a bone" type things.  There is no individual recognition, nothing being done to make you feel like you have a home or even belong to what they call a "team".  You are really isolated.  Of course the nastygrams still come in if you make a mistake, but a few of my teammates and I have noticed that we all feel like we are sitting on the fence looking looking in at a few chosen few.  It did not used to be like this.  We had  team leaders who actually cared about us and made us feel as though we were needed and wanted and did what could be done to make the job more tolerable and easier.  Now we get orders barked out at us and nothing to make us feel like we belong.  Guess this all comes with companies getting bigger and making progress in making money.   They forget who did the work well in the beginning so they could get their reputation of being a decent company.

Just last night I pulled the TAT out of the fire, when it wasn't even my normal shift, and the evening lead thanked me PROFUSELY.

Furthermore, they ALWAYS say thank you for a job well done, when we all pitch in and go above and beyond the call of duty to get those jobs back on time.

And I may be in the minority here, but I don't expect to be thanked for just showing up and doing what I have committed to do.... My landlord doesn't thank me for paying my rent on time, and those "thank you for your payment" notations on credit card and other bills really don't count....

I have been fortunate this time to have an outstanding, kind and caring TL, who does say thank you so much and is very kind if she has to tell me about something regarding my work. This has never happened to me before, and I am thankful for her and the other people on my accounts. But there is always 1 that will bring you down, who lets gets carried away with her authority and positon, and with MDI/Trans there is 1 woman who will always find a way to make you feel very depressed and questions the validity of what you tell her. While I totally agree with you that we shouldn't expect to be thanked for just showing up and doing what we have committed to do, BUT...what about all the times we go over and above what we have committed to? How about the times that we've worked extra on the weekends or retracted a PTO day just to help out? These are the extras given to the company that take precious time away from our families, and often are done to help out the TL herself. If an occasional "thank you" isn't given it begins to feel like a requirement to help out and that is not what we committed to.

I'm like you, I have a wonderful TL who often commends us personally. But I have also seen substitute TLs on my secondary account who are just downright rude and demanding. Maybe it's because they don't "know" us and are just flying by to give direction...I don't really know, but it is more than evident that they are only there to get more people on the team working extra.

I also have to disagree wth the landlord not thanking for paying rent. I have had several landlords thank me for always being on time and for treating their property with the same care as if it was my own. I think this is just common courtesy and too much of this is disappearing in the world today.

I don't see a change in attitude. It's always been poor. And I - never saw them as a decent company

... about management philosophies and styles. She believes in treating EVERYBODY--her team members, the clients, her own bosses--with the utmost respect. And I'm here to tell you, in the case of us minions at least, it really shows. When she needs anything from us, she always asks nicely, never tries to manipulate or "guilt" us into doing what she wants, and she ALWAYS says thank you for our hard work. The leads on our team are the same way. THEY know who is behind the excellence of our team, and they don't hesitate to tell us so.

And during our conversation, I told her some people are having issues with poor managers. She agreed with me that it would be a good idea to alert the employee advocate so she has a heads-up before there's a full-blown mutiny going on.

Yes, companies do get bigger--but they are still comprised of people, some of them nicer to work with than others. This, of course, is true in all aspects of life. I have actually had some contact with some of the real "suits," and you know what? They're just like us; they put their pants on one leg at a time same as everyone else. And they DO want to know if there are problems on some of the teams, including poor communication skills on the part of the TLs and ROMs.

agree with her/him. I just signed on for work and as usual, there is nothing, same as every other morning. If I work 15 hours a day I can get enough lines to meet my quota. When I ask for more work the answer is always the same - we don't have any at this time. Yes, Transcend needs a mutiny to wake them up. We are treated worse than the abused animals you see on TV. The employee advocate doesn't care either, she is working for a pay check and does what management says, not what is right. Overhiring is the name of the game in our region. I would like to transfer to another region to see if it is just as bad, but I have no idea who to contact to find out where there might be an opening and if my TL and ROM find out that I am looking they will just make it worse and I will have nothing. We get threatening letters about maintaining your minimum wage per pay period, but no one does anything about letting us have enough work to do it. When I do get work, it is one bad dictator after another. I never get a decent one any more. And editing is so bad that half the time I just retype the entire report. The keyboard commands are a joke.

Communication has always been pretty bad but now I think it is worse than it has ever been. I have no idea who is in charge of what or who to contact for anything. My TL talks a lot but says nothing when she is having a meeting and she can't teach at all. Our class on how to do the new time card system could have been done better by my son who is in the second grade. I know they just were learning the program too, but she should have taken 5 minutes and gone into the program before she tried to teach it.

As far as the ROM goes, everyone avoids her as much as they can. She is not a nice person, but I guess that is the new trend because her second in command is just as bad.

You are lucky you have someone who is at least nice to deal with. The rest of us are really suffering.

I have run into the very same thing, mainly no work and last night was the same again. My TL is aware of this and says she will see what she can do, but her hands are tied if her ROM is not doing anything about it..I am not even meeting my line count daily. I cringed when they said at a meeting that they were hiring more people for the account I am on. I also noticed that this is happening with more frequency.

I experienced the exact same thing when I worked for them and got fired for not producing - haha - Some on this board call me a "whiner," but they really need to read all the posts and threads pertaining to Transcend, as I was voicing the simple truth and obviously there are others out there experiencing the same bad situation (it was not just me). At one point my TL said another TL had emailed her pertaining to work in my speciality and they needed help and she had thought of me. Well after about a week of not hearing anything further - I emailed my TL and inquired about it. Needless to say - when I did hear feedback it was just a bunch of excuses and never got put on that account and was left looking at a blank screen most of my shift. They obviously do not care about their MTs and for the "fat cats" that read this board they get on and constantly say "talk to the employee advocate. By reading this board the employee advocate must be pretty busy on a daily basis putting out fires, but in my opinion she obviously needs to do a better job !!!!! I see nothing has changed since my departure and unemployment benefits is a real treat compared to being expected to sit and wait for work to appear, which never does, and at least the unemployment benefits equals to almost $10 an hour, which is a lot more than I was making for months at Transcend. I have said in the past they treat their MTs like dogs, but that is far beyond the truth, as they don't even throw you a bone, just a big kick in the butt.

You do kind of come across as a whiner. I think everyone on this board has read your complaints, yet you keep posting them over and over and over, about how glad you are to be away from Transcend. Since you focus on it SO much, I wonder if that is true...Anyway, now would be a good time to bow out gracefully, and go enjoy that fantastic new job you were offered with Angel -- so why unemployment? One has to wonder why that new job disappeared? Maybe she saw all your posts and got scared off. I know I would have thougth twice about it!

I am a very happy Transcender, never treated like a dog in years, paid on time every time (sometimes early), have an awesome TL, an even better ROM, and have NEVER run out of work. My QA people are awesome. I also am very agreeable to help them when needed, even though it might not be my day to work and am very flexible with my time. Sometimes, you get what you give.

that is because you have NEVER run out of work. And as far as being paid early, we are all paid by direct deposit on the same day, so how are you getting paid early? As far as getting what you give, if Transcend gave something besides no work, cutting benefits for failure of meeting your quota due to lack of work, ugly emails when they even bother to email you, then they would get some positives from me. As it is, they don't and what you call from whining from RLee is simply stating what is true for many of us working there. Lose that account with unlimited work, and you'll be whining a different tune.

If you look at the pay schedule on the website, there is a pay date. Several times, my DD has been in there before this scheduled date. :)

I am not on 1 account, I am on 6. When one runs out, another always has work.

My group always gets emails from the TL asking for help on other accounts if we are caught up, and have not had any problmes. But, I am willing to learn new accounts if necessary, can work on all work types, and can do ESL's easily.

Have been quite happy for a long time. :)

Hi, I never requested it, but have seen the direct deposit show up in our checking account up to 2 days before the scheduled payment date. A nice surprise!

If we are to be paid on a Monday, I have had my check on Saturday. I bank at Wells Fargo and my check is always in my account over the weekend (for a Monday payday). This, however, never happens if we are to be paid during the week, i.e., Tues-Fri. When I was with a credit union, they never released the funds until Monday, after 9 a.m. So, it depends on who you bank with if you are paid over the weekend or not.

My paycheck is always 1 day early, which is normal, and I am with a credit union, so I can't say I agree with what you say about not releasing funds, perhaps this is your particular credit union. If we are supposed to be paid on a Monday, my check is in the bank on Friday, but I have been with this credit union for a long time now. Maybe I am just lucky with my credit union.

Number 1 - when anyone posts about Transcend I will continue to chime in. With that said - if you are reading all the posts there are other "whiners" working at Transcend. It is your choice that you read my posts - so if you have heard it all before just bypass RLee - simple as that. I will not hide my bad experiences with this company, as the treatment I received from them as a dedicated employee was far beyond my control and was outright MALICIOUS on their part. I will not support Transcend in any way, shape, or form - and that is the treatment they deserve from me.

As far as unemployment - I was collecting partial unemployment even before my termination - DUE TO LACK OF WORK!!!! As far as Angel's - the type of work being offered was not medical - it was transcription of speeches, seminars, etc, which is not for me I would prefer to do medical/clinical transcription and will wait until something that is a better fit comes along and if not maybe change careers altogether, as with unemployment benefits I can make that choice. She did read all my posts about Transcend and totally agreed with them -which you would know if you had read my prior posts. She was not scared off - and I had received a personal email from her in which she stated at one point she also had been in my "same" situation with Transcend and had lived through the same experiences. I will still continue to support Angel's, as she has good beliefs about the MT industy and has walked in our shoes and can relate to what MTs are experiencing with these "fat cat" nationals.

I have been an MT for 22 years and worked at one neurology office in house for 17 plus years - so before you slam me - that is one reason why I have limited skills in other specialities. Other than neurology I have only psych experience - and that is what I was hired for before the merge to Transcend - and that was part of the package - they knew what they were getting - and I feel that is the main reason they squeezed me out due to no acute care exp. But what is the reasoning for MTs that have acute care experience and are still experiencing no work?? As far as the employee advocate I never knew this company had one - was always told to go to TL or ROM and if you got no answer to go higher. At one point I did email someone in upper management and when the ROM found out - the situation got even worse.

I am glad to hear that you are a "happy" Transcender !!! But read the threads in this post and you will see that there are many "whiners" or "unhappy" Transcenders. As far as getting what you give - well that speaks for itself - that is why Transcend will get nothing but negative posts from me - as in my situation that is appropriate.

RLee, would you please contact me. I would like to discuss the unemployment issue with you, and how to go about applying for this. Right now, I have 5 accounts, 3 secondary and 2 primary. Both of my 2 primary accounts have run dry and there is very, very little on the other 3 accounts, so I don't understand why someone would say that they are making their line count, perhaps, but that would be nearly impossible. I don't like having my work taken away from me, and that is because they over-hired people for those accounts, and now the ones I normally would count on no longer have enough work to support all of us. My pay is going down, down, down, and soon my benefits will be taken away, and I wonder if this is part of the plan here. I have asked my TL to help me out, but she said she has asked, but still no answers, and it is 1 month after this discussion. She says she has to meet her "quota" too, which I feel is one of the accounts I can't get work on, and all TLs have to meet quota. Let's see, we have one TL and 4 supervisors which are all trying to meet quota, so guess what they work on the accounts that are running out of work. I feel sorry for anyone who is going through this, and I have never, ever been a "whiner", and I resent that awful term..this is just a fact of life right now.

you want to hear what we have to say then put on your jet powered skates so you can run as fast as you can and report the conversation to Sue, the ROMs and TLs so we really get in trouble. You are basically worthless. Sounds awful but unfortunately that is just a dose of what we get from our leaders every day. You spit out platitudes, you listen to every word that is said, sometimes copy it down wrong or in a manner in which you know fully well it was not intended, and pass it along as you interpret it, not as what was actually said or intended. I have talked to you and I have also listened in on several friends calls that you talked to. Nothing got done, nothing improved, we just got in more and more trouble after you interfered. Maybe if they took your salary and that of a few others and added a half a cent a line to our line rates it would be a little easier for us to make a living. 5.1 cpl for editing when the editor is horrible is not an easy way to make a living.

It sounds like you are not getting the answers you want from management or the employee advocate. Perhaps you need to take a mirror and look at yourself.
I am not #1 popular person at Transcend, I assure you. But I can get enough work if I call a few team leads. I can get enough work if I am willing to work on other accounts. I can do a lot of things if my quality is high enough that they trust me with the work I say I will do. I can get enough work if I am willing to work the hours when the others are doing other things. So that is what I do and I almost always have something to keep me busy. I may not like the dictator, the account, or the job I just got, but someone has to do it so why do I think I am better than the other MLS who will get the job if I return it?

The employee advocate might be a misnomer for her position. She is more of a mediator if you have issues that you cannot resolve between you and your supervisors. She will offer solutions or arrange a meeting with the people you have an issue with. She cannot guarantee any results or the outcome of that meeting. She is an extremely nice individual and I would hate to have her job. I do not have enough patience.

I think the people who have major problems are the ones who refuse to be flexible, refuse to improve the quality of their work, and think they should always get their way. You will have those same problems anywhere you go.

Transcend allows me to have a VERY flexible schedule and I really do appreciate it because I am not able to work a straight 8 hour shift. I would never be able to do this in private industry. But because I appreciate it I try to work to help cover the hours that they need help or do some work that no one else likes and believe me, it has really paid off. I found that Dr. Horriblename is really the best dictator and once you spend a few minutes to learn what he says, it is a great line count. I have learned new specialties and it has really given me some great experience.

I have not done much in the line of editing, but I am really looking forward to getting started on that. I know it will take a while, but it may be just what I need to save my fingers and I might even become good at it. In any case, I will try it. Others can do it and so can I. So much for that.

I worked with Suzanne (the EA)when I was at Transcend. She is the nicest person you could ever hope to meet. You could not pay me enough to do her job, but she does it professionally and with kindness. Transcend treated me like crapola, but Suzanne is absolutely the best. She is more of a mediator, that is true. I hope there are better things for her than Transcend. Instead of bombarding her with your problems, however, I'd go right to the head of the company (LG). That'll get you noticed. Their HR department doesn't know their A$$ from a hole in the ground.

CrankyBeach, if I'm not mistaken, you have the same ROM you had at TRS, correct? If that is true, yes, she is the one person who does care. And they are abusing her as well. Yes, they put on their pants one leg at a time (the rest of the ROMs/Directors/VPs/titles of the day) in their 2010 convertible Cadillacs and Ferraris.

I have to agree with Cranky. I can't really complain about my treatment, account, or platform. Of course I would like to make more money (who wouldn't) but I have steady work with little down time on only 1 account. I really do not hear much from my ROM or TL but then again I prefer it that way. I do not really need or desire "atta-girls." I just want to do my job with as little hassle as possible, which is what I get. That said when I do hear from them it is always a respectful and friendly exchange. I average about 450 LPH on BeyondTXT editing so obviously the platform is not a problem, for me anyway. Overall, my experience is a good one.

It is true, there are accounts that have plenty of work at Transcend and, of course, those that are lucky enough to work them are very happy, they should be. BUT, there are a significant number of us that DO NOT have accounts with plenty of work, are having our benefits stripped because we cannot make our line counts even working multiple accounts and well over 8 hours a day and, of course, we are NOT happy.

We had management changes over the weekend for my new account and the new manager sent out e-mails today that we have to get new e-mails, must start using some probably crap butt IM program (I HATE IM!) and they insist that if your account runs out of work that you wait 10 minutes, then e-mail them then wait up to 15 minutes to see if they can find you some work before you can move to your secondary if that account has work.  Meanwhile that means 25 minutes of no pay time waiting around for ...

Has anyone else had the call from CCM asking you to switch shifts or to move to graveyards?  What have you done?  I work a late split shift already Tuesday through Saturday and got a call about why I missed work (NJA).  I don't think I can work a third shift and don't know how far they will push this.  They said they will float me to other BOBs in order to keep me busy when they run out of work in mine.  The only problem with that is that it will bring my wage ...

I'm now transcribing directly into the EMR for my client now, and therefore, cannot charge by the lines anymore. The only thing I can think of to do is charge by the megabyte.  I would put the whole billing period of voice files in one folder, click properties, and there would be my total megabytes for the billing period. I played 8 voice files that added up to 27.81 minutes and 2.95 mg of voice files so it seems safe to assume 1 mg = 1 min of dictation. At $1.85 per me ...
