Change in QA? - anony

Posted: Mar 31, 2013

Just checked FIESA (which I loathe), and now instead of my blanks, which I put in because I cannot understand what the heck they're saying and don't want to guess and get points taken off my score, are now SOMETIMES being filled in by QA and I get points taken off!! I feel they are just trying to find ways to whittle down our scores below 99% so they bonus stays with them and not going to the prostitutes I feel we are (you know, where the pimp keeps the majority of the money and we're doing all the work). This new way of scoring is inconsistent as I've had some blanks filled in and no points deducted. WTF?!

QA - me

Many many MTs make their bonus. You are graded on how many blanks the account allows, if it allows 3, you get 3 free. The reason this is scored like this is because of people sending 20+ blanks to pad their reports. If the report really is bad enough that QA can't even understand it, then it's marked valid blank. Yes if they are filled in then obviously they could be understood. You can't even begin to fathom the reports we get with blanks where the MT answers her own questions further in the report but doesn't bother to go back and look, doesn't refer to samples, etc.

I'm not trying to be rude or argumentative, but just - wannie

because one person can understand and fill in a blank does NOT mean that the lowly MT who left the blank could understand it. Obviously, if a blank is left, there is a least a question in the MT's mind of what he/she heard.

Why dont you deal with this on a - just curious

Not sure how blanks 'pad' a report but if you have someone doing what you describe on a regular basis, you should re-train or reassess that mt for the job - that would either improve there overall performance, or maybe they just can't do MT work. It may not be intentional, but it does sound like the current system is keeping people out of bonus contention - who might otherwise do better for themselves and for the company.

I had heard this was now policy and the person I heard it from was QA and not happy about it, but they have to do what their managers say or risk losing their job or getting bad QA. Anyway, it was promoted as being due to people leaving huge amounts of blanks, but if you get this deduction and you do NOT leave tons of blanks, I know of at least 1 person who successfully challenged and had it removed. It is worth a try. I personally think it is wrong, and I agree with the other poster that they should deal with people individually who have a habit of leaving a huge number of blanks.

''Padding'' reports? With blanks?! Seriously? Talk about being darned if you do and darned if you don't. ''Incorrect verbiage'' deduction if a QA does not agree with what the MT heard versus this idiotic comment about "padding" reports with blanks. This illustrates the accusatory, condescending mentality of too many QAs (who should be ashamed of themselves.)

I must have been looking at the wrong list when I went into mine. It showed dictators I have never typed, never even heard of and the same thing for the work types so I know the accounts were wrong. I got irritated and logged out.

what one hears; someone else might not - new but old

Just because a QA person who does this day in and day out can understand them; doesn't mean that we as MT's do. I always go back through (as you can attest by looking at my LPH on certain days) and try and fill in blanks and always look at past reports but if I don't hear it clearly I am not going to assume because he may have said it one report prior that is what he is saying in this one. I never "pad" reports and really resent anyone saying that. I think that is one of the major problems with our QA people is they assume that maybe because one MT does something that we all do it and that is not the case. It would be nice to get positive feedback also but that never happens

blanks for deduction - mdtyper

I too just got some deductions on my FEISA report for leaving blanks on an ESL dictator. Maybe 3 blanks of one particular report as "invalid blanks". And I do not believe if the reviewer can figure it out and the MT cannot, we should not get deducted points for this. Also got deducted critical error (3.0 points) for not recognizing the name of a cc doctor, but flagged the report for QA to figure out. They didnt, but i still got deducted. Challenging that one now!

I have had this done too - Ang

They deduct points if they think you did not try hard enough to fill in the blank... Like I would have filled it in if I could understand what they were saying!! Anyways, I sent these to my supervisor and she took away the points and said they should not be doing this. Yeah, this really makes me mad too!

How in the world do then figure out if we tried hard enough? They aren't sitting here as I open up 2 different drug websites, search in vain for some mumbled doctor's name, or read through multiple previous reports. It's a crock.

No Way to Win - Burned Out

No matter what the MT does or how they do it, all choices = QA penalty errors.

This methodology is right in line with their company philosophy: To minimize the number of employees, lower wage costs, and maximize the work produced by the labor force.

In a nutshell . . . If they pound us in the head long enough about how "awful," our work is, we'll eventually start to feel like we are not good enough to work for them or anyone else, so then we'll feel better about working for minimum wage (since we are so unworthy of even having a job).

If you get sick enough from that behavior to quit, oh well, they don't care about that either because they only want employees who can work like a mule , perform extraordinary tricks like a circus dog and be happy getting paid in peanuts anyway.

Sex Change
Nov 22, 2009

I love typing up extremely large reports on a patient with a name that can be either sex (with no info in ADT about the sex either) and then at the very end of a report, the dictator saying:  Ya know, this is a male/female rather than a female/male, please change things around in the report.  Love it! ...

Why Would MME Change
Feb 10, 2010

mom to mother on a VERBATIM account at every instance of dictator clearly saying mom? Is there something I am missing? I wish they would leave some kind of note stating why this was changed. Client profile clearly states "this is a verbatim accouint" and "type as dictated."  QTL does not answer email.  I usually ignore these things, but sometimes it is hard not to get frustrated when you leave 1 blank and get back several corrections for this kind of stuff.  Thanx for th ...

Change Is Bad
Sep 11, 2010

There is a book called "Who moved my cheese?" that I would highly recommend for those who are struggling so much with the upgrade.  From this board, it seems that there is no possibility that a major upgrade in a complicated software in and of itself might need some bugs ironed out (anyone heard of Windows?) as opposed to an evil company finding a way for people on the other side of the world to spy on you while you work or a bunch of overpaid executives sitting around a table discussing ho ...

IDK About This Change....
Oct 01, 2013

We had management changes over the weekend for my new account and the new manager sent out e-mails today that we have to get new e-mails, must start using some probably crap butt IM program (I HATE IM!) and they insist that if your account runs out of work that you wait 10 minutes, then e-mail them then wait up to 15 minutes to see if they can find you some work before you can move to your secondary if that account has work.  Meanwhile that means 25 minutes of no pay time waiting around for ...

About To Cry Over Change
Oct 29, 2014

Before this recent change, I had a pretty good account and nice supervisor and QA person.  Before that account, I had a horrible one, so the second one was like heaven.  I had it for maybe a year, then this switch.  Now I'm getting a lot of muffled reports I can barely make out, and a lot more ESL doctors and mumblers.  I just want to cry.   As far as the sound, I never thought, after all the years I've been doing this, that we'd still be contend ...

So, Do You Think Medquist Will Change Their Name?
Jun 07, 2010

They always have in the past.  Medquist/Secrephone merge became MRC Group.  Then MRC Group and Transcription Limited became Medquist.  Since Spheris was bankrupt and every one knows Medquist and they were number 1 and number 2 big companies, I am wondering if they would change their name.  Last time when the company came up with the name Medquist, it was done by a contest and the employes had to vote for the new name. ...

Billing Change

Job Change Opinions
Jul 11, 2011

I am working for a large MTSO FT, and am considering going to PT and taking a side job at a local tiny rural hospital, which pays by the hour.  It would mean cutting my pay I'm sure, and losing benefits (not medical, but dental, disability and vacation).  I'd like to know if I'm just crazy or if it is a reasonable consideration. Has Anyone Seen This PDF Re The MT's Change In Title?
