Has anyone else had the call from CCM asking you to switch shifts or to move to graveyards? What have you done? I work a late split shift already Tuesday through Saturday and got a call about why I missed work (NJA). I don't think I can work a third shift and don't know how far they will push this. They said they will float me to other BOBs in order to keep me busy when they run out of work in mine. The only problem with that is that it will bring my wage down to close to minimumm. Do you think they will fire you if you refuse to move around?

Three CCMs ago I got the same phone call and basically got guilted into switching my shift. I wish I would have stood firm and said no, this is the schedule I was hired at and you need to find me work. Now I have a horrible schedule and I still run out of work all the time. Biggest mistake I ever made.

same here. Wish I had stood strong too. Now I type 3 split shifts and 39 hours and it's killing me; sometimes it feels like it's literally killing me. I'm so tired all the time, I have eye problems, and they won't let me out of it.

to pick the shift I wanted to work. I was told that the shift I picked was fine and that I would be provided work during that shift (all this was documented in emails and in the paperwork I signed). I told them then that I had other commitments (kids, a family, etc.) and this was the shift I had to work.

When my work load dropped to nothing (NJA 3 days out of 5 for 80% of my shift), I started getting hounded about having to change my shift. I refused. After weeks of refusing and standing my ground (reminding them that I could not change my shift due to my LIFE outside of MQ), they moved me to a new region with a new CCM. Mind you, they had to start paying me partial unemployment during this time as well.

I haven't had NJA since and am working the same schedule that I have always worked. Believe it or not, there are areas that have an abundance of work available during all shifts. MQ apparently does not want us to know this.

As always, it is up to you. If your life is flexible enough to change and you are amenable to that change, go ahead. In my situation, changing my shift was just not an option.

that I couldn't change shifts because of my school schedule. I did, however, let them know at the beginning of each semester, summer term, and break when I'd be available, and I offered to work extra when I was able. That seemed to satisfy them, and they never gave me grief or insisted that I work a weekend day regularly or anything.

I avoided changing my shift for a very long time, but it finally caught up to me. My BOB recently had mandatory shift changes, and we were given 2 weeks to comply or resign. I suppose it could have been worse, but I now have to work 4 hours 3rd shift on Saturday night. I have worked for MQ for 13 years.

There are companies, which I know have outsourced a majority of work to India, that are seeking US MTs but only for 2nd and/or 3rd shifts. get is horrible. 80% of my reports this morning have been ESL's who I swear were dictating in their sleep. Slurred speech, impossible to understand. Blanks galore today. The kinda shift that makes you wonder if youeven know what you are doing. Have a question on shifts. Many of the jobs on the boards say 2nd or 3rd shift. In the MT world does that mean 3 to 11 p.m. and 11 to 7 a.m. or is it 4 p.m. to 12 and 12 to 8 a.m.? I have not had a position for a straight shift before, but split my shift at my last job to get in my 8 hours. TIA. :) ...

I have noticed all these companies now are paying about 7cpl or 7.5 cpl and 3/3.5 for VR. I remember 12 years ago when I first started 7cpl was starting pay for right out of school. I eventually went up to almost 9cpl before transition to Nuance. Of course the pay went down after that and now once again. Back then 9-10cpl was seen and with MTs who had been doing it a while. I left a message in post to another post about the Swap (swamp) Board. I had wayyy too many hours showing I had scheduled to work. I normally only work 24 hours week (48 hours pay period or maybe 54 at the most). Mine said 66.50 hours scheduled to work. I don't recall asking to pick up that many hours here and there. Saw 2 ads posted here alone this week, perhaps there were more. Is it me or is this blantant disregard for IRS rules for IC. These ads state specific shifts and state for IC. Aren't these chancy moves on the part of the MTSO to actually put it in print publicly? Can't they get in trouble just for that?
