Can any long time "Keystrokers" answer a question - Do you get raises? If so, how often?

Posted: Sep 06, 2012

Considering going back, but wasn't there long enough to find out the first time.  The pay they are offering is pretty low.  Just wondering if that will be the best I can expect from them.  Thanks!

If they're anything like the rest of the industry, then - pay will only go lower, not higher. :(

I did receive a raise one time sm - mt3

[ In Reply To ..]
of 0.05 a line but a while later there was an across the board cut in pay so I lost 0.025 of that. I have worked there a little over 3 years and I can honestly say I am making a little more than I was when I started. However, I do not expect to receive any raises in the future.

sorry messed up the amounts there (sm) - mt3

it was a 0.005 raise (half a sent) and then they took half of that back. So I am currently 0.0025 above what I started out making. I believe I need some caffeine this morning.

cent not sent I cannot type this morning! nm - mt3

If you work as hard as I do for these "pennies" they pay us, you're probably seeing double - lol

Thanks for responding....

How Long Between Testing And Answer?
Apr 10, 2012

Hey All - I did the online tests yesterday, skills and practicum of four reports. How long does it generally take to hear back from a recruiter on how you did, or get that dreaded failure email? I have 19 years of experience, including 3 years of working on a Nuance platform (EEE) and yet I'm still nervous. Just curious if anyone has recent experience with the timeline. Thanks in advance! ...

Does Anyone Know The Answer To This Regarding Cutoff Time?
Dec 13, 2014

Right now it is approaching 4 p.m. Eastern time. If my postaudit score is reading 99.7% right now, does that mean I'm safe and don't have to submit feedback for reversals, or do I need to check FIESA again at 4:59 p.m. to make sure I'm okay? Are they going to be that picky? ...

Keystrokers, Regarding Earlier Layoff Post
Jun 12, 2014

I do not know what I can mention here, but was the HR person’s first name who was let go start with a K?  I ask because I replied to their job posting that stated they were rolling back the clock and needed to hire 40 MTs.  I sent in my resume in response to the pediatrics account because a while back, I was an MT at a children’s hospital in a very large city.  I stated I knew my skills were old but that I was submitting my resume anyway for their consideration.  ...

Remember when we worked as MTs and didn't have QAs?  Boy those were the days!  Anyone else remember that?  Remember when we were good, trusted, common sense mattered, we made our own judgment calls, did our job and supervisors liked us?  Wow all was wonderful with the world back then.  Okay going back to my current reality now......   ...

Long Time MTs I'd Like Your Input Please
Apr 12, 2013

Remember the good old days when we had our own accounts and only signed with a service as "filler?" This is the third time that I have committed to working full time, signed the "Agreement" that yes, I will work for you full time hours, only to end up with under 20 hours for the month, or better yet sitting and waiting and waiting to start with now no full-time income coming in because I have committed to them to full time! Has anyone ever tried to be compensated for that time? If ...

I Am A LONG Time Medquist'er About To Take A Leap

I've been with Medquist forEVER but I've been consistently losing income for the past 3 years.  Last month, I was forced to go on governmental assistance just to keep a roof over my and my son's heads because of my lack of income with Medquist.  This year I may just barely make $10,000.  I have been with this company through thick and thin.  I have seen thousands of changes, and been through several dozen supervisors.  I am a WAY dedicated employee, p ...

Long Time MT With Burnout And Cabin Fever!
Dec 16, 2009

I've been an MT for 15 years and work full time, 40 hours a week.  Lately, I have been SO restless and bored to death with my job!  I'm married and have no kids--when my husband gets home from work, he is glad to be here; meanwhile, by mid week, I'm about to go stark raving mad due to being at home so much!  Now I'm not new at this, as I said.  I have also been in QA, which I enjoyed much more, but the pay was so dire that I went back to transcribing. ...

Does Being A Long-time MT Make You More Valuable If You Become A Coder?
Mar 28, 2010

So if someone has been an MT for 10 years and then moves onto coding, does that make them more valuable to employers? Also do you recommend the Andrews School over the rest?  I am pretty sure I am going to do this but am wondering if I should sit in college class and do all of this or go with the Andrews School. Is there really a PLUS to taking the classes on campus in a classroom setting?  Thanks! ...

Time Versus Money - Long Commute
Aug 01, 2012

I am doing some thinking about what is important to me. I have been looking at jobs on Indeed.com and found 2 coding jobs that I might qualify for down the line, but they both involve a 1-1/2 hour commute via public transportation each way. So that's 3 hours a day getting there and back. After working at home more than 10 years, that idea seems very daunting to me. I could look for work closer to home, but the pay would be considerably less doing outpatient coding for a dr's office ...

MQ QA I Need An Answer About Numbering. Sm
Mar 28, 2011

Now Plllleeeeasssse moderator, don't move this to some other forum.  I really do need for a MedQuist QA person to answer this question.... My original blurb was placed on here, and it was moved to the Word Board.  I got answers from others who do NOT use ASR platform of MQs.   I realize BOS2 says the number, and that is what I have been doing for about a year now. Here is the headache that we MQ employees endure. ASR seems to do whatever it wants and does NOT follow rul ...

Can Someone Answer PTO Questions?
Apr 23, 2014

I was acquired 1 yr ago.  I had 4 years service with previous company, and was told we brought that with us, so I assume now I have 5 years service, right?  At the time, there was a schedule of PTO hours earned per years of service, I think it was about 3 weeks if you had 5 years.  I do not see that anymore.  Does that mean everyone only earns 4.62 hours of PTO per pay period no matter how long they have been employed? Also, regarding the "time off without pay."  If I h ...
