Amphion - Current Employee Comments Appreciated - Kat

I was just at the AHDI Conference and talked to Amphion..I know they only pay for black characters on a page, no spaces or headers or footers...looking for comments from Current Amphion employees...how do you like the company and can you make any $$ there?

I currently work for Amphion. I am coming up on a year with the company and so far my experience has been a very positive one. They do make sure you have work to do. Their QA is good and I am not as nitpicky as Nuance ever was. They require a production quota to get your benefits, but I find I am having no problem getting it. The accounts I am on are super, super easy and I enjoy it very much especially since the only time I am out of work is during holiday times and that is expected anyway.

Do they micro manage your schedule or do you have some flexibility there?

They are flexible. I have had to adjust my schedule a couple of times and they have approved it. They like about 2 weeks notice for a schedule change. But for emergencies and stuff I have been able to change my schedule for that day with no problems. I also recently was out of work for about 1-1/2 weeks because I ruptured a disk in my back and I did not get any hassles at all about that. My supervisor seems is very professional and good. As long as I do what is expected of me I am left alone and not bothered.

Any comments about Amphion? I feel I'm about to get the boot from MModal and have started checking out other ads. Amphion looks okay for what I want - VR and PT employee status, but their requirement about being tech savvy intimidates me. I can download and save a file, but I'm not good at troubleshooting - I'm an old time MT who started out on a typewriter, so this sort of thing is more out of my realm. I'm trying to figure out what an appropriate line rate request equivalent would be since I would be responsible for withholding income taxes. I wonder if any companies anymore both big and little appreciate their MTs for what they do, if they are high producers, good quality and in the case of an IC work a good dependable schedule for them. I have had only good experiences with TT account managers. They have always answered my emails promptly and been very willing to be flexible with my scheduliing. AD has always taken the time to make personal phone calls to MTs when more info is needed or something didn't go through the system, to make sure they get paid on time. My QA scores have been primarily 100%, the lowest something like 99.6 and very infrequently anything less than 100%. My QC scores are consistently 0% as I never send anything to QC.
