Current employee impressions of Silent Type and/or Nuance - chickenforchange

I would like feedback from Current employee impressions of Silent Type and/or Nuance  looking for change but chickenforchange

interested in replies - chicken too

I sent a resume and was asked to test but then read awful things on here about them so decided not to test. I'm chicken for change too. Don't want to go from frying pan into fire. I currently work for 7cpl, get paid for spaces, but company is inflexible with schedule so I want a change.

there was a whole lot about Nuance - sm

on the Company Board not too long ago (maybe a week or so?) and was not favorable much, mixed opinions, probably varied per account.

Silent Type/Nuance - anon

I cannot speak for Silent Type, but I work for Nuance and have for a few years. I love my TL. She is very sweet and very accommodating. There is no flexible schedule here. You have a shift to work and have to be there. I have found mostly steady work, except for those couple of times a year when MT work is pretty much slow everywhere. Their benefits are a bit expensive, but not as bad as some I have seen. They do offer and give more accounts if you need it. I haven't found the pay bad compared to others, and even though they are Indian owned everyone has been great to work with and very helpful and prompt. JMO

thanks! I want to do lots of research before jumping ship! - chickenforchange

Nuance - hmmmm

I left when Encompass was bought by Nuance. The actual mechanics of doing the work was okay, but the changes are what pushed me out the door - cut in line rate, discontinuation of weekend differential, shift to stricter schedule, etc. The people I worked with (supervisors, etc.) were fine.

Being that you know up front what the terms of their payment are, only you can decide for yourself. Of course, no one can know if they will make further changes to their pay or benefit structure in the future.

I thought their health insurance was really expensive (would have wiped out my whole paycheck).

I just couldn't handle going from making $14 and hour to making $8 an hour and still keep my house.
Nuance - getting out
[ In Reply To ..]
Funny, I work for Nuance and I am looking to get out. Was working for OSI and then Nuance took over and changed everything and NOT for the better! HUGE paycut. Sending the better accounts to India. Lots of work they expect you to do that they DO NOT pay for...checking Fiesa, e-mails, etc. I can't imagine a worse company to work for. Maybe the people who originally worked for Nuance have nothing to compare it to so they don't know any better...but I do.
Leaving Nuance also - QAanon

Think long and hard before working for Nuance... they will wind up paying for their arrogance and such when the accounts they have walk away... low pay for horrible dictators... Nuff said
Leaving also - TM

Leaving Nuance also. I worked for Focus for 2 years when they got bought out by Nuance. It's been hell ever since. After the Nuance operating manager fired my TL and took over, they created more problems than I can count. I threatened to leave, put in my 2 weeks, and of course I got a phone call 5 seconds after I sent it in begging me to stay, promising a bunch of nothing. I resigned my two weeks and now 3 weeks later, it's the same ish. I can't even describe how frustrated all of the politics have made me. It's gotten to the point that I can honestly say I hate my job with them and it's started to show in my production. So I've got set up with SGS (don't listen to all the crud on here from disgruntled ex employees, they're grand) and am just up and leaving Nuance the second I get settled with SGS. Nuance is going to run itself into the ground, and I can't wait. They have no regard for MTs or what we really do. If you need to vent about our beloved company, feel free to email me. Trust me, I feel you my sista!
Nuance - speechiscrap
[ In Reply To ..]
I worked for this company for several months, was shocked at them having to "make-up" pay so that I could earn minimum wage, what a joke. I had never done speech recogn. before. I didn't mind doing it, but the speech required was absolutely ridiculous. I wound up speeding up many slower talking docs just so I could meet their minimum. I could not believe how I was being cheated in this way. to be fair to Nuance, they did have a bonus for the particular acct I worked on, which I liked the account and usually had work, and I did get a night differential whenever I worked late at night to make up hours etc. They were also very inflexible about time off, always requiring the makeup hours. I felt the manager was okay and did ask me to stay a time or two when I tried to quit. However, the constant daily QA, Fiesa, etc was fairly stressful. I can't say I found the QA to be that picky about commas, or at least I did not see that. My trainer was great. With all the hiring and firing and quitting of people, I honestly don't see how they can stay afloat and give quality work. It's just plain stupid, all at our expense, and in the end, the facility's and doctor's expense. Wouldn't it just be better to have not had this speech bologney to begin with??? Or at least off transcriptionists maybe 6 cpl AT LEAST to do the crap?

Silent Type - good gig

Pay structure is different but on par with what other services are paying at the end of the pay period.

You have to go on-site for 2 days of training, out of your pocket, reimbursed up to $500 after you're there 6 months.

Can anyone give me info on Silent Type, either on the board or by e-mail? Would like to know about steady work flow, general idea about line rates, if they provide equipment, straight typing versus VR, weekends required, and do they still require you to train on site at your own expense and if so when is that reimbursed?  Any current info would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks in advance. ...

Silent Type Work
May 24, 2012

I have been with Silent Type for a year now.  I enjoy the fact we work M-F schedule and no weekends.  I also enjoy the fact that we have good QA.  I also enjoy the fact we get vacation and bonuses.  I also enjoy the fact we are offered health insurance and 401-K.  Girls don't forget these perks when you are complaining about the work being light.  I have been in this field for over 35 years and there is always the concept of too much work or no work in the field of transcription.  Do ...
