7.5 cpl for VBC - thanx but no thanx. Do they think they are hiring MTs from out of the US with these wages? Not this MT, that's for sure. Flat out refused prior to interview once rate was made known.

do VBC have a lower character count per line, so 7.5 might be good. You have to get all the facts.

VBC only counts characters typed, no spaces, so the line count would be significantly less, so this pay rate is really bad! Fineifyouwantmetotypelikethisforthatpay

I am not being snarky or sarcastic.

How do you stand firm and insist on whatever cpl you think is due you ("you" meaning anyone, not any particular poster on this thread) when you have bills to pay and mouths to feed and need a job?

It would be lovely if everyone had the luxury of refusing "chickenfeed" and holding out for the dime or more, but most don't.

There's no hope in this one anymore. No matter what the suits try to make you believe, the only folks that will make any mOney with Speech Wreck are, well, the SUITS! The more MTs they can fool into thinking otherwise, the more money for them. I'm going to work in a field that now pays more than MTing: Fast food!

7.5 cpl, either VBC or not, is not enough to make much more than minimum wage, and minimum wage in my state is considered poverty level.

If I was young enough, I'd get out of the profession. I'm lucky that I work for MTSOs who still pay decently. But if and when the time comes that I can't find any offers with a decent living wage, that's when you'll find me down at my local welfare office applying for benefits.

unless you have dependent children you won't get anything so you better hope your MTSO does not decide they can hire someone at 7.5 cpl and lay you off to save them money - it happens

It doesn't matter how many are offering that. I can't - live on that, so no point in taking the job.

If I'm unemployed, and can make more working at McDonald's for a regular 40-hour week than I can working a 60-hour week for an MTSO, I'm probably gonna go with Mickey-D.

I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way about the swapboard; that it is crap for a FT employee. It seems to serve the PT employees well though, because they can readily pick up more hours. Clear Choice Transcription is clearly a joke. The only reputable person at the company is the recruiter. Once you're handed off to the trainer you're screwed.
