I work twice as many hours and make half the pay, at best. I don't understand why they would cut our pay for VR when in reality it takes longer when you have to deal with editing and formatting.

I am right there with you. How to get out after 20 years doing this? Not sure how they get away with this. I guess because they can.

I totally agree here!! These companies know how frustrated we are and I'm sure they charge their clients the same amount, but are now paying us less. Why use voice recognition, in my opinion? How does it benefit the client and how does it benefit the transcriptionist? The client still has to dictate, it's just our job to clean up the VR mess and that takes more time to do than just straight type the whole report. I get so unmotivated to work when I know I'm making much less. In my opinion the client should just dictate like they used to, let us straight type it, or they can go all EMR and do it themselves. VR is not saving the client any time or the transcriptionists.

I read an editorial about it in one of the trade magazines not too long ago written by a smaller MTSO owner. She was lamenting about how hard it is as an MTSO since so many clients are asking to be put on VR because it costs less. It was a great article from that perspective. She was basically saying that VR is putting the smaller MTSOs out of business who don't buy into it because the clients are demanding it for the discount.

Today I haven't even signed on to work and won't. I'm sick of it. I'm fed up with making less. I signed a contract with this company 11 years ago to may a certain amount per line, now I've had to sign a new one where I'm making less than half of that. That's just wrong. They have broken their contract with me and have taken advantage of my work. I don't work for free. Last month I made what I would have normally been paid for one week and I worked all day and night. I can no longer live on this work.

They know we need to work, this is what we know, and they are taking advantage of us. I went from 9 cpl to 4 cpl, went from working 6 hours a day and making a living to working 12-14 hours a day and can't pay my bills. I'm thinking of just quitting and crossing my fingers I can find a "real" job quickly.

I have worked on different platforms and VR is universally horrible.

Yes, there are a FEW, very, very few, dictators who manage to dictate in such a logical, linear and clear way that VR gets them, but that is rare.

I have been doing a lot of straight typing lately and when I compare my lines, I actually type faster than I can edit VR garbage.

I know it sounds crazy but I have been getting straight typing for the last couple of days and when I compare it to my edited lines from last week (for the same number of hours worked), I actually TYPED more lines. INSANE!!!

So much for the making 2-3 times more with VR, remember that sales pitch?

I made a decent living on straight typing but with VR I'm slow because I'm correcting all the time instead of typing what I hear. I hate it. It's been three days now and I've not signed into work. I'm sick of it.

I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way about the swapboard; that it is crap for a FT employee. It seems to serve the PT employees well though, because they can readily pick up more hours. Definitely going to start looking for a new job. I love my TL and really love what I do, but I have gone from being a 99.5 to 100% accurate to now cannot get above 98% thanks to all their 0.25 off for not having a semicolon instead of a comma, or leaving out the or an, so much for verbatim. I know it was just asked how they figure out their bonus, but I am concerned because I found recent posts that say the lines are "weighted", and their own ad says "quality based" incentive program. Clear Choice Transcription is clearly a joke. The only reputable person at the company is the recruiter. Once you're handed off to the trainer you're screwed.
