Social Security - Anon

I turned 62 in late July last year, signed up for SS in June, got my first check in September. I was told in person that you have to be 62 for 1 month and they pay a month behind so that is why no check until September. I am still working as an MT IC part time. I am lucky because I am treated mostly as an IC, I set my schedule and if I don't want to work on a given day I send an e-mail stating so. Also I have all straight typing at 0.08 cpl which helps too. I keep a real close eye on what I earn in a given month so that I don't have SS penalties or IRS tax issues with my SS. Cutting back to 20-25 hours a week has helped immensely and gives me enough money each month that it fills the gap. It has also taken away all the stress, because I now know if I get fed up I can walk without too much stress (a little budget adjustment). Best of luck.
