No matter how good a medical assistant you were, MT is a completely different animal.
Honestly, even if you were going to a good MT school, the field is dying. There are tons of jobs you can do from home that aren't as stressful and low-paying as MT.
Most customer service and online ordering places hire people to work from home. I would look into those. Just Google your favorite catalog store you might order from, and see if there's a "careers" tab or "employment" tab, or something like that.
