Look into noise-abating headsets. I had a pair of Philip's over-the head. They worked great, but got pretty hot, and you also had to remember to turn the noise-abate option off when you were finished, because that part if ran on battery.
This was many moons ago, and I'm sure technology has changed---just something for you to look into.
If you already use over-the-head without the noise abate option, you can get a pair of noise-reducing ear muffs, like those construction workers use. That worked great for me, too, there for a while. The ear piece has to be the kind that's on the outside of your ear, though.
