intraventricular fossa pacemaker defibrillator? - Mary

Posted: Feb 27, 2010

The doctor struggles to pronounce this correctly but it sounds like "intra or infra ventricular fossa pacemaker defibrillator implanted.  -  anyone familiar with cardiology that can help me out?

Intraventricular fossa pacemaker/defibrillator, you got it!.....nm - Cyndiee

Kindly note - there is no such thing - elaine

There is no intraventricular fossa. (!)

Perhaps infraclavicular fossa, where the device is implanted.

Please note: pacemaker/defibrillator - elaine

Doc is likely saying something along these lines:

implantable cardioverter/defibrillator ("ICD") or
--OR--
automatic implantable cardioverter/defibrillator ("AICD")

The device can be implanted in the infraclavicular fossa (indentation below the clavicle), so perhaps doc is saying "infraclavicular fossa pacemaker/defibrillator".

There can also be biventricular pacing with an ICD/AICD, thus they may say: biventricular pacemaker/defibrillator, bi-V pacer, biventricular pacemaker/AICD, etc.

See what it sounds like to you, and make sure to verify any and all answers you receive on this board, including mine! :)

Pacemaker AID
Jul 01, 2010

I am not quite awake this morning and this doctor slurs all his words together. He says under past surgical hx. "pacemaker A.I.D." and I'm not sure if that is all one procedure or if the A.I.D. is another surgery. I'm not able to find a surgery labeled as that, so I'm getting more and more confused by the minute. thanks in advance!   ...

Intraventricular Conduction Delay Versus Intervenricular Conduction Delay
Nov 12, 2010

Is there any way to tell the difference between these two terms? I don't really understand what they mean other than *inter*ventricular would mean occuring between the 2 ventricles and *intra*ventricular occuring within one ventricle. Right?? I am doing a cardiology report right now and really can't distinguish the difference. The doctor gives some terms regarding what's going on like long Q-T and left atrial enlargement. Can someone point me to a site that explains this in great, ...
