To Nuance Management - Had it up to here

Posted: Jun 12, 2014

Dear (and I use the term loosely) Nuance Management:  I know you monitor this board, so I hope you’ll see this and take it to heart, but I doubt you will.  You haven’t yet, so why should one more voice make any difference? There was a time when I cared.  There was a time when I took pride in my work.  There was a time when I really was glad I was an MLS, but no longer.  Nuance has beaten that out of me, through FIESA and their arbitrary QC/QA practices.  I can no longer say that I am proud to work for this company.  It makes me sick the way they’ve taken a once proud occupation and run it into the ground. I’ve been sitting here in tears most of the morning and my stomach tied up in knots because of Nuance’s attitude toward their MLS.  Is it that difficult to say a word of appreciation now and then?  Is it that difficult to treat your employees with respect and dignity?  Is it that difficult to keep jobs in this country rather then send them to a pariah-filled country where they are more than happy to work for slave wages?  You say you’re all about patient care and that I understand, but what about employee care?  We are human.  We have feelings too.  How about acknowledging those feelings and start treating us more like the human beings we there rather than so much trash to be trodden underfoot?  Don't you wonder why you can't keep employees and always have to hire more?  Look in the mirror and you'll see the reason. Sign me a current, but soon to be former, employee.

Words are cheap - I do not want insincere words - but to be paid a decent rate for my skills

The Nuance pay and Fiesa fiasco tells you exactly what Nuance thinks of you. I do not want a pat on the head and an "atta girl" speech. I want to be paid for my years of experience and skill level. I want to make more than the newbie. I do not want unobtainable bonus talk. I want to be paid more for my work on a daily basis.

Nuance actions speak louder than their words as far as what they think of us.

Words are cheap - Amen!

I totally agree. I don't need praise, I need a decent wage and incentive to work for. I used to thrive on that, but no more. I do just what I have to and no more and I can barely do that at times. I remember when I would work extra, weekends, holidays, take a sandwich to my desk to eat, so I could keep working and my paycheck reflected all of my efforts, but no more; nope, no more from me. You have destroyed this profession along with your partner in crime, M*Modal and you should all burn!

Nuance isn't very "people" friendly. They are an Indian company and used to the status quo in India - you aren't happy? Get out, there are 3,000,000,000 more where you came from. That's their attitude and they are not going to change. I went from being a happy QA to a downtrodden QC (Fiesa demeans everyone). Quit and I'm so much happier. Don't have another job yet, but headaches are gone and I feel like a human being again.

Indian company - GRRRRRR

[ In Reply To ..]
So NUisANCE is an Indian company? That does it! I'll be d****d if I'll work for a foreign company. So long, NUisANCE.

Thanks to them, our standard of living in the - US is headed in the 3rd World direction. :(

Nuance - LadyWriter

When I still second-guess if I should have given the Nuance train a try when my local hospital gave us the boot and contracted with Nuance, all I have to do is check the current messages regarding them. Part of the blame also lies with the hospitals who are willing to accept sloppy inferior Indian work. I've seen what the results look like and ugh. But it's all about money and neither of them care about the transcriptionists being paid a sustainable wage nor do they care who or what country is transcribing them, and eventually the qualified MTs will find something else that pays better. Very sad indeed...

question for LadyWriter - s/m

[ In Reply To ..]
Did they try to contest unemployment benefits when you did not accept Nuance offer? I'm just wondering b/c in a few months our hospital goes with M*Modal but no one is going. Wondering if our hospital is going to tell unemployment office we turned down a suitable job to make getting unemployment difficult/impossible. TIA!

If you have no pride in your work ... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
it's not the company's fault - that is YOUR fault. Your work represents YOU.

If you're tired of the company, that's a different scenario.

But please, spare us the old "I hate this company so I can put out crap work" excuse.

It's INEXCUSABLE on YOUR part.

Ugh.

She said nothing about putting out - crap work

[ In Reply To ..]
What are you talking about?

What I read is that she used to take pride in her work but now she is made to feel substandard, NOT that she is not doing the same good work she always has done, just that through Nuance finding fault and picking at her every day it has made her question herself and despair.

I completely get this, and I am also still doing the same good work I did as well, but you must take the point that despite how good we are, the only thing we hear from Nuance about is our mistakes, never anything positive.

We are not rewarded at Nuance for our years of experience, for our expertise, not in any way, financially OR even praise (which I agree is certainly not money in the bank, but still it would be nice one in a while). It is a despicable way to treat the people who make your money for you.

Your work DOES represent you - the problem with Nuance is that not one of us every receive any positive reinforcement ever in any way, shape, or form.

From Mad Men:

Don Draper: That's how this works. I pay you for ideas.
Peggy Olson: You never say 'thank you'.
Don Draper: That's what the money is for!

Sadly, we don't have the thank you OR the money. So be as proud as you want of your work, you work here long enough you begin to question and start getting paranoid. Witness everyone waiting for the axe to fall on the "October" surprise - exciting changes!

Those changes are never good for us, they almost always mean less pay and more ways for them to demean us professionally and take even more money off us. If every other MTSO wasn't paying even less than Nuance (thanks to their monopoly with MM) most of us would be out the door in a second.

Siding with a scam operation like Nuisance - is whats "inexcusable".

They want us to "care"? Then put their money where their mouth is. Because currently they care not one iota about their employees, their clients, the patients those clients serve, or even this country.

Nuance Management
Jul 17, 2012

After being with Nuance for over 1 year, I am disappointed that all I ever hear is bad news. I strive to make each document excellent, not just good, but no one cares about that, all they want is LPH which mysteriously went from 100 to 200 for the same pay. Kudos is needed for us peons who work so hard to keep quality standards high. How about a raise? ...

WHAT IS WRONG WITH NUANCE MANAGEMENT?!!!
Mar 21, 2014

It seems that Nuance has really gotten bigheaded. It really has become all about the mightly dollar to this company.  No one is an individual anymore, no one gets treated like that anymore.  We are alll just a number.  This company has been horrible to work for.  If you are not a manager and driving your team like a slave then you are performance managed out of the company.  If you are a MT or QC and you spend too much time in the report because you actually care a ...

Top Management Suggestions For Nuance
May 16, 2014

Whoever is in charge of VR for Nuance is doing a bad job.  Same mistakes over and over again no matter how many times I have corrected them.  Being paid 4 cpl is an unfair wage for the amount of editing required. Some of your middle level management is incompetent and actually could be eliminated leaving you the opportunity to pass on their salary savings to MTs  MTs do not need pep talks or "team" emails.  We need to be left to do our work and be paid more so we can make a ...

Not Management
Mar 08, 2010

I am not management!  You just don't get it.  I hate to say it, but many of you are too miserable here to see the good... for whatever reasons.   I am an MT.  I'm tempted to put my real name and MQ e-mail, but what for.  I've said what I did because I am doing okay, because I have been through frightening changes before with MQ and it has always worked out.  It seems foolish to tell you my real name though, as you mostly are a bunch of whining loser ...

New Management

Decided to send this note to our new management after the e-mail we got today about Mission One, whatever the heck that is.  I know I'll never get a response, never do.  But sometimes you just have to vent!  Here it is:  Hello.  Everytime we get new management, I throw these questions out although they still have yet to be answered to any satisfaction.  I've been with this company since WAY back when it took over Digital Dictation back in the 90 ...

Is It Some New Management Technique Not To Say Thank You To
Sep 22, 2010

I'm a high producer and self starter. I don't need hand-holding.  But, geesh, it's just human nature to want to hear a sincere, individual compliment for a job well done sometimes, if for no other reason than it motivates me to do a better job and make the company more money.  At some point, it seems most management has started to treat the worker bees as enemies instead of part of the team.  It's short-sighted and lazy, and I know it has to be costin ...

Performance Management

I haven't been put on PM yet but fear I might.  Got an email that said I had a "low-scoring feedback report."  It was for using follow up instead of followup (I know better) and then omitting the word "the."  Now, I will own up to these mistakes, they WERE my mistakes, but by no means life-threatening in any case.  But apparently this caused my score to drop below 98%.  Now I'm terrified they are going drop my pay by 3 cents a line, and I am already in danger of not being able to ...

Dear Management
Jun 09, 2011

Dear Management,  I have enjoyed working for you for the past several years ... best place I have worked in during my 20+ years as an MT.  HOWEVER, why do you find it ethical to find ways to sneak in the back door and take money out of my pocket, thinking I will not notice.   Yes, I understand, you need your own line counting system because the one I type in for the client gives me partial credit for headers and footers, and of course I shouldn't get credit for those after ...

Incompetent Management
Jul 05, 2011

After years of going through this, finally I have no other conclusion to draw but that it's pervasive.  I am talking about incompetent management. They talk about "the team" this, "the team" that.  But they have NO concept of what teamwork is, so that is just lip service. If I make a very simple request for something that will make the work flow more efficient and help everyone, I am either blown off completely or told "we will TRY to do that, but we're ...

How Do You Get Management To Listen.
May 30, 2012

The MTs on my account have constantly complained about 1 doctor on VR who does not belong there!!  We are simply typing his reports for the lesser pay.  We have complained directly to our supervisor about it and nothing has been done because we do not send the reports to QA.  Certainly, you can understand what he is saying, that is not the problem.  The problem is he will not speak in complete sentences, and spells everything, so how can you send this to QA?  It signific ...

Upper Management
Mar 28, 2013

Nuance has just had a MAJOR announcement!  They are making changes to upper management AGAIN.  It is no wonder we get paid crap.  Look at their structure and they have WAY too many people in this establishment and all making way more than we do and we are the ones that do the work.  Heck, they probably do not even know how to do transcription I bet.  Greed, greed, greed.  And I could care less about it.  Give me the pay I am worth.  They want better qualit ...

My Management Team Is Gone ... :(
Sep 18, 2013

The TSM and QC person I've worked with forEVVVVER in the west is gone, both of them being moved up into new positions, and dividing their accounts and the entire team of MTs/MMEs has been disassembled and moved to other areas.  I am *terribly* sad about this because they were both absolutely amazing to work for, but I'm glad that I'll be staying in the Western region. My question is about my new TSM here in the West.  Her initials are KP ... anyone working with her?&nbs ...

Let's Pretend That Management Comes Here
Nov 22, 2013

What suggestion would you like to make? Try to be more specific than "pay us more money."  Pretend you're on a task force and (this is really a stretch I know) that someone values your opinion.  What would you suggest? One of my top ones would be to fix the fuzzy physician search that has been disabled for almost a year.  Another would be to get India on the same system we use, with Job Search available.  It's obvious they don't have it because they leave so m ...

New Management Or MISmanagement?
Feb 19, 2014

Ever since getting a new COM, we've had no work. It started out slowly, but now it's every single day for several hours constantly in the morning and then intermittently throughout the day. To Focus And Transcend Management

In the interest of providing some constructive criticism, I wanted to give you some simple insight into what you could do to improve your retention rates: Both Focus and Transcend have excellent pay structure, platforms and clear policies.
