RETURNING JOBS - wendy

Can your TSM tell if you return a job to the server?

Probably. Someone can for sure. - ss

If it is a long one at end of shift and you do it RARELY they might not say anything.

If you are dumping a crappy report(and I am sure that is not what you are doing) then I hope they keep track of it and take action.

The TSMs can absolutely tell. There is a trail for each and every report, including returning and skipping reports.

There are a lot of reasons to do that though - sometimes my computer loses sound

[ In Reply To ..]
For no apparent reason at the beginning of a job. I basically have to reboot the computer to get the sound back and I cannot figure out what is causing it. It might be me jumping on the foot pedal too fast or something, I really can't tell.

The tech people told me to call them when it happens right then, of course when I do that there is nobody available and I am not going to stay in the report for hours, so I just return the job and reboot.

No sound? INSCRIBE? Try this.. - sm

I have been having this trouble for awhile now. A bunch of OTHER trouble also since the last version, (autocorrect entries will not expand for a few seconds, words jumping out from under my fingers into the sentence above, etc) Try scrolling away from the report...either go temporarily to the next report or, if you do not have another report, click on the QA feedback on the bottom right corner of the program (or file, QA feedback). Then return to the report and your sound should be back. Just need to scroll away from the report and come back. If not Inscribe, then I don't know, but you might try it.

This is a regular occurrence for me as well as computer locking upI
LOTS of problems on Inscribe since the newest rollout - of platform...SR capable.
[ In Reply To ..]
No matter how they try, Inscribe does NOT do well with speech recognition. I am straight typing but this version is SR CAPABLE and trouble ever since. No sense calling IT as it has to be happening when they remote in which, of course, it will NOT be happening then.

If that were true, then why isn't something done? Notice on spark we still have TL, but supposedly that slot was longer vacant. Guess still privileged.

Truth - SadMT

[ In Reply To ..]
The truth is an elusive thing when Nuance is involved. From a very reliable source, I have heard the TSMs are required to send out those emails about cherry picking a few times a year, whether it is going on or not. They just randomly send them regardless. It's to "keep us in our place". They DO know if someone returns a job, but I think they are selective in whether or not they do anything about it. The TSMs just care that the work is getting done so things stay in TAT and they get their bonuses of our backs. If someone is constantly skipping jobs, or if they are looking to "justify" firing someone, I believe that is when they actually do anything about it. For their select favorites, they simply turn a blind eye.

Returning To MT?
Jul 06, 2011

I was a medical transcriptionist from 1999-2006, and 2007-2008.  I worked in a regional health center; did all sorts of reports. And then suffered major burnout. I'm working retail and not really getting by at all.  So, I'm considering the once-unthinkable: Returning to MT. My problem is that I'm not up-to-date on things - the latest procedures, drugs, instruments, anything. I have no idea if my typing skills are up to snuff. I do know I want to do at-home work again as ...

Returning Equipment To MQ
Apr 29, 2010

Recently resigned from MQ and received the mailing labels to ship back their computer and monitor.  However, per the letter, they don't require that you return the mouse, keyboard, and any other peripherals.  It doesn't say you will be charged for them -- it just says they want the computer and monitor. Has anyone left MQ and kept the keyboard and mouse?     ...

Returning To MT After 10 Years Away
Aug 07, 2010

I was a medical transcriptionist for about five years in the late '90s.  Now that my kids are both going to be in school full-time, I'd like to go back to work.  I was able to get an old set of SUM tapes and a transcriber on ebay, so I'm going to be spending the next few months re-learning what I've lost over the years.  At the same time, I will be calling around town to see if I can find some work.  I used to do a lot of chiropractic, which was really eas ...

Returning To MT Work.
Mar 13, 2015

Morning everyone (or afternoon, depending on time zone).  I'm returning to MT home work after a 2-year absence for family health issues. Have there been any mind-bending changes in the 2 years that I have been gone??  Is VR still 4 cpl?  Have dangerous abbrevs changed? Is the basic 9 cpl still in effect?  Also, what is the download for MT testing (something like express scribe -- I can't remember).  Anyway thanks for taking time to read this.     ...

Thinking Of Returning To MQ After A Few Years....
Oct 13, 2009

Moderator- PLEASE dont delete! An MTSO that had always had a great rep.  The changes have just been coming hand over fist of late, and I am wondering if the higher pay at MQ may be worth the switch back to be able to have my normals and DQS.  Im frustrated and watching my paycheck dwindle at this MTSO even though they have been good to me otherwise.  I quit MQ with the cesspool and horrible QASAR and inconsistent QA.  Any comments or MQ updates? Returners: Are you glad you ...

Looking For Suggestions, Returning To MT After 6 Months Off
Feb 21, 2013

Last summer, after being laid off from my hospital MT job due to cost cutting in our department, I went back to work in the office, working as a receptionist for a family practice.  I was also transcribing the office notes and correspondence as well.  At Christmas, we were told that the doctor had decided to sell his practice to the local hospital.  We were promised raises and I particularly, because of my 20 years as an MT, was promised a position doing MT for the hospital.  ...

Help.  I need advice.  I just got a new job and no one will talk to me.  I have been there 7 days.  The first week was fine, but now I feel like I am getting the cold shoulder.  The guy who is supposed to train me acts like I should already know what I am doing.  I do image scanning now and have a year's expereince, but all scanner systems are different.  I feel like I am catching on pretty well, but he is giving me no feedback, good or bad.  I have been very friendly and asking peo ...

Returning Computer To Imedx.
Feb 15, 2015

When I worked for Transtech, they provided my computer, and when Imedx tookover, I got email that they were transferring ownership to the employees. WMX - Returning Equipment In Original Boxes
Mar 01, 2011

When I started with WMX the instructions were to keep original boxes for return of equipment if you wanted your deposit back.  It's been 3 years, I am not planning on going anywhere and getting tired of those boxes taking up space in my laundry room.  Anyone have experience with sending them back in non-original boxes and still getting deposit back? ...

Seeking Suggestions/advice For Returning To Transcription Field
Nov 09, 2010

I have been out of transcription for almost 2 years.  Long story, but a combination of health problems coinciding with job loss due to cutbacks.  Anyway, I worked for 3 years transcribing for local multi-specialty clinics.  I realize now that was probably a mistake since everyone is hiring for acute care (which I have done but that was 10 years ago).  I have recently seen some companies that are hiring for clinic transcription, but I need to "refresh" my knowledge and skills ...

Just Another Vent About Jobs, No Jobs, Requirement Of Jobs, Etc.
Aug 18, 2010

It is insulting to all of us with the way that MT pay has gone down the drain, it is frustrating and aggravating to look for a "decent" job these days, trying to work out which companies will treat you fairly, which ones lie about their platforms, work, etc., and not only do these companies not want to pay us what we are worth but now I see that MANY companies are requiring the MT to have or "be willing" to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of equipment.  If an employer can PROMISE IN ...

Where Do I Find The Status Of Jobs And Number Of Jobs?
Nov 26, 2012

Will We All Be Out Of Jobs?
Dec 02, 2009

These eScription, Nuance, EMR, etc. posts are all very sobering.  Does anybody think that we'll all be out of jobs in 5 years, 3 years???  and will we be cut loose quickly or slowly phased out?  given enough notice?? etc.??   I think I'm getting to the point where working in a grocery store is starting to look more and more appealing.  The thing that contradicts all this is that most of the companies constantly beg for extra work, higher production, consis ...

Once And For All - There Are No Jobs!
Dec 20, 2009

On almost every thread somebody mentions their finances are in dire straights.  And on almost every thread somebody whose life is just peachy demands to know why they "let" their finances get shaky and why they didn't just "get another job before things got so bad".  We are not sitting around just wringing our hands, as is so often implied.  Many of us have been applying, constantly, for months; with more entering the job search every day, the competition gets harder and hard ...

EMR And MT Jobs
Mar 09, 2010

I recently changed my health care to Kaiser and have observed first hand and for the first time, the use of electronic medical records; they really are of immeasurable assistance to each provider who is treating the patient.  Nevertheless, there are still certain physicians who must dictate, i.e., surgeons, consultants, certain medical specialists.  There will undoubtedly be fewer jobs for MTs but there will still be jobs for those who can transcribe those reports.  It will a ...
