workstation landdesk management - alyce

I have not gotten an e-mail on this from my TSM, so maybe it isn't in our region yet.  Be that as it may, some of the comments I read lead me to goggle this.  I'm not computer geek and it's really early in the a.m. (only 1 cup of coffee and 2 cigs) so my brain is not quite functioning yet.  What I'm reading and i could be wrong, is that there is not quite enough info on this system in my opinion.  What I have read seems to me to be like Big Brother, someone checking in to make sure that the person is working.  Like I said, I'm not that computer savvy.  Just look it up.  There really isn't a whole lot of info to me.

It looks to me like... - anon

from what I read it is a way for them to manage and monitor the computer to keep it up-to-date and help with any technical problems. I really doubt they are adding it to watch our every move. That being said, I agree with those that won't install it if they are using their own personal computers. The old clunker I have seriously needs to be replaced and hopefully that program will keep them more updated on whose computers need to be replaced.

They are already monitoring everything we do - ever click, every site, every pause

[ In Reply To ..]
They already know who frequents this site by the monitoring software they have now.

I also believe the above poster that this is a way to monitor the computer for problems.

That being said, if it were my personal computer, I would not add anything besites the program to get the work performed. No connection programs, no monitoring programs. If they want all that junk, then they should provide you a computer with enough memory to handle all that junk.

That's nothing new... - sm

They've always "monitored" us, every click, every site, etc., and that is exactly why I only use my personal laptop, never my work computer, to come on this site.
If they were monitoring everywhere I go - I would have been fired long ago
[ In Reply To ..]
Paranoid much? Big brother is not watching what websites you visit.
Of course they are watching/BIG BROTHER - New
[ In Reply To ..]
Paranoia is an irrational fear. "Knowing" that they are watching (or is monitoring a better word?) is just a fact, and it's legal. So they haven't fired you because you're not really doing anything wrong. We should be able to do stuff on our/their computers. The darn things are in OUR homes. If you want to talk about paranoid, read...google-whatever about the data complex they are building in Utah (the government NOT MModal, just to be clear). We live in an Orwellian world, like it or not. Blame the bad guys.
well then they must not care too much - see message

I'm not using it for online gambling mind you, and I do Ebay on my own PC, but I do check my Facebook, sometimes do google searches for MT jobs, come here, go to Craigslist, read news stories (some about Kim Kardashian), and search for the best fares on cruises.
I do all that (except the Kardashians) and much more - anon

It is too much trouble to switch over to my other computer even though it is just one switch since I use the same keyboard and mouse for both, but when I'm waiting for work, I'm doing everything you listed, plus shopping, looking for houses to buy, vote for reality contestants, etc. I've never once been concerned that anyone cares what I do on this computer as long as I get my work done.
I do all that...I AGREE - New
[ In Reply To ..]
I agree with you. If they want to watch me, maybe they will even learn something. Again, this computer is in MY home and I should be free to roam different websites, pay bills, etc., in MY own home. We are not robots.
Me too,,I agree I am all over the place when I work - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
and again, why would they care, they pay us by what we do..only time that would matter is when you line counts drop too low and it effects the cose effectiveness of your bennies..

That's why I got another computer for my own - use... an awesome laptop. (sm)

I save the old, slow, virus-ridden desktop for my work and my MTSO's spyware. I can write whatever I want with this one, and MTSO can't read it.

Making Your Workstation Comfortable?
Nov 11, 2010

Hi ladies, I'm coming to realize that even though I've been searching and searching for another job, I'm going to be MT'ing for some time to come.  I'm rather uncomfortable while typing all day, from my hands, arms, bottom, ears from the headphones, my foot from hitting the pedal.  I have pillows under my foot and bottom and even my back and it doesn't help as much as I would like.  I'm using a regular Microsoft keyboard and mouse, neither real ...

Not Management
Mar 08, 2010

I am not management!  You just don't get it.  I hate to say it, but many of you are too miserable here to see the good... for whatever reasons.   I am an MT.  I'm tempted to put my real name and MQ e-mail, but what for.  I've said what I did because I am doing okay, because I have been through frightening changes before with MQ and it has always worked out.  It seems foolish to tell you my real name though, as you mostly are a bunch of whining loser ...

New Management
Sep 13, 2011

Decided to send this note to our new management after the e-mail we got today about Mission One, whatever the heck that is.  I know I'll never get a response, never do.  But sometimes you just have to vent!  Here it is:  Hello.  Everytime we get new management, I throw these questions out although they still have yet to be answered to any satisfaction.  I've been with this company since WAY back when it took over Digital Dictation back in the 90 ...

Is It Some New Management Technique Not To Say Thank You To
Sep 22, 2010

I'm a high producer and self starter. I don't need hand-holding.  But, geesh, it's just human nature to want to hear a sincere, individual compliment for a job well done sometimes, if for no other reason than it motivates me to do a better job and make the company more money.  At some point, it seems most management has started to treat the worker bees as enemies instead of part of the team.  It's short-sighted and lazy, and I know it has to be costin ...

Performance Management
Oct 12, 2010

I haven't been put on PM yet but fear I might.  Got an email that said I had a "low-scoring feedback report."  It was for using follow up instead of followup (I know better) and then omitting the word "the."  Now, I will own up to these mistakes, they WERE my mistakes, but by no means life-threatening in any case.  But apparently this caused my score to drop below 98%.  Now I'm terrified they are going drop my pay by 3 cents a line, and I am already in danger of not being able to ...

Dear Management
Jun 09, 2011

Dear Management,  I have enjoyed working for you for the past several years ... best place I have worked in during my 20+ years as an MT.  HOWEVER, why do you find it ethical to find ways to sneak in the back door and take money out of my pocket, thinking I will not notice.   Yes, I understand, you need your own line counting system because the one I type in for the client gives me partial credit for headers and footers, and of course I shouldn't get credit for those after ...

Incompetent Management
Jul 05, 2011

After years of going through this, finally I have no other conclusion to draw but that it's pervasive.  I am talking about incompetent management. They talk about "the team" this, "the team" that.  But they have NO concept of what teamwork is, so that is just lip service. If I make a very simple request for something that will make the work flow more efficient and help everyone, I am either blown off completely or told "we will TRY to do that, but we're ...

How Do You Get Management To Listen.
May 30, 2012

The MTs on my account have constantly complained about 1 doctor on VR who does not belong there!!  We are simply typing his reports for the lesser pay.  We have complained directly to our supervisor about it and nothing has been done because we do not send the reports to QA.  Certainly, you can understand what he is saying, that is not the problem.  The problem is he will not speak in complete sentences, and spells everything, so how can you send this to QA?  It signific ...

After being with Nuance for over 1 year, I am disappointed that all I ever hear is bad news. Upper Management
Mar 28, 2013

Nuance has just had a MAJOR announcement!  They are making changes to upper management AGAIN.  It is no wonder we get paid crap.  Look at their structure and they have WAY too many people in this establishment and all making way more than we do and we are the ones that do the work.  Heck, they probably do not even know how to do transcription I bet.  Greed, greed, greed.  And I could care less about it.  Give me the pay I am worth.  They want better qualit ...

My Management Team Is Gone ... :(
Sep 18, 2013

The TSM and QC person I've worked with forEVVVVER in the west is gone, both of them being moved up into new positions, and dividing their accounts and the entire team of MTs/MMEs has been disassembled and moved to other areas.  I am *terribly* sad about this because they were both absolutely amazing to work for, but I'm glad that I'll be staying in the Western region. My question is about my new TSM here in the West.  Her initials are KP ... anyone working with her?&nbs ...

Let's Pretend That Management Comes Here
Nov 22, 2013

What suggestion would you like to make? Try to be more specific than "pay us more money."  Pretend you're on a task force and (this is really a stretch I know) that someone values your opinion.  What would you suggest? One of my top ones would be to fix the fuzzy physician search that has been disabled for almost a year.  Another would be to get India on the same system we use, with Job Search available.  It's obvious they don't have it because they leave so m ...

To Nuance Management
Jun 12, 2014

Dear (and I use the term loosely) Nuance Management:  I know you monitor this board, so I hope you’ll see this and take it to heart, but I doubt you will.  You haven’t yet, so why should one more voice make any difference? There was a time when I cared.  There was a time when I took pride in my work.  There was a time when I really was glad I was an MLS, but no longer.  Nuance has beaten that out of me, through FIESA and their arbitrary QC/QA practices.  I can no longer say that I a ...

I know management at all levels from both companies read this board.  I have been told so directly by management at both companies. In the interest of providing some constructive criticism, I wanted to give you some simple insight into what you could do to improve your retention rates: Both Focus and Transcend have excellent pay structure, platforms and clear policies.
