"Welcome to Mentoring." - Nana

Posted: Nov 05, 2012

I'd rather not!  I wouldn't need it if I wasn't constantly in other pools having to check each account specifics!  On the rare days I exclusively have my accounts my line count is above and beyond. Since its mandatory, I guess I have no choice. Thanks for nothing.

I actually went through mentoring (and did not need it) but found the mentor extremely knowlegdeable and helpful. Seriously. She was SUPER nice and informative. Almost like a therapist;) I figured was getting paid for it anyway so did welcome the banter in my otherwise secluded day.

You had to stay on the phone all day with someone stalking you? - I dont get how it works

hahaha, no. It is once a week for 30 mins. If i remember correctly. I was not meeting my production (due to lackluster...) She was quite inspiring. I think MModal "offers" about 3 hours of mentoring. (paid for)
Thanks for answering. After all these years, I think I know where my - sm

problem areas are, and mentoring isn't going to fix them! If I had some steady consistent accounts I could get used to rather than the cess pool, a good software platform that wasn't a time consuming piece of garbage, ASR that didn't take longer to correct than to just type the report, and I wasn't getting screwed out of so much of the content I'm required to enter, I might actually be able to make the same amount of line counts I used to make. Somebody mentor me on fixing those problems, and then you can worry whether or not I clicked the mouse versus using a keystroke combination...!
I wouldnt have to use the mouse so much - if the

If I didn't have to repopulate - those ADT fields
[ In Reply To ..]
Have to repopulate the attending and admitting fields on every report because they can't seem to fix that on their end. I think I could be much more productive if I didn't have to do this. Mentor will probably tell me what keystrokes to use to do it more efficiently; I shouldn't have to do it at all.

Mentoring is a joke when we're in the cess pool!! How long do they stalk, I mean mentor, you? - nm

The email said 2 meetings at about 30 minutes each.

I seized upon the chance to give her an ear full. - dnr

I let her know that my production was suffering because of being bounced around different accounts all day.

I also let her know that ASR takes longer than straight typing. After watching me work, all she could offer was to retype more of the ASR instead of correcting it.

BTW - She was very nice.

Whenever I have an opportunity to talk to someone above me, I always voice my opinions about production troubles- Whether or not they ask :)

All that's ever gotten me is to be labelled as a - TROUBLEMAKER. :(

months ago I was switched to a different team and this account used escription. I was exclusively on this 1 account only and doubled my line production using escription. That platform is wonderful and I believe you get paid for headings too plus TYPING FOR ONLY 1 ACCOUNT/HOSPITAL made a HUGE difference in bumping up my line count. Unfortunately, that account was lost and now I am back to cesspool MModal/DQS and my line count is half what it used to be. I had a good month and a half of good line counts and decent money. This company just doesn't get the transcription business in regards to keeping the MT happy!!!

Oops...forgot to add to my above post (I have worked)... - sm

we wouldn't need mentoring if we just had 1 account and did not have to learn client profiles of who knows how many accounts. This is a no brainer and Mmodal just has no brains!

I'm sure they know that keeping us on steady accounts would increase our pay and productivity. They just don't care, doesn't fit into their business model. Mystifying to us, why they don't want us to be successful, but I wonder if we were on steady accounts, we would be so productive, the work would just dry up. No answers either way.

eScription is a much user friendly platform and you can make money on that account; at least I do (that's my FT job, not for a service). I took DQ7 as a PT job, due to husband losing his and while he continues to look. My lines are only one-third of what I make with the eScription platform. They all try, but eScription has found it. Yes, it's still VR, but for me, it's still a job.

Mentoring Programs
Apr 21, 2011

Hi.  I finished MT school at Oak Horizons in November/December of 2010.  I also did an intership for a company and after I finished they told me I needed to get a job in a small clinic so I would have someone working with me.  In my small town there is not any small clinics or any surrounding towns that I know of.  I wanted to ask all of you about any Mentoring Programs?  The only one I have looked into was AIM and some of the feed back I have read was good for the mento ...

Mentoring - This Sucks!
Apr 24, 2012

I guess we are all going to get mentored at one point or another as I just received an email to set me up for it.  I make over the lph and get all my required hours in each week so I don't see why I am being mentored at all.  Like I said, I guess we have no choice and will all be mentored sooner or later. This sucks! ...

Mentoring From Boost
Sep 28, 2012

Well, it finally happened.  I got the e-mail from Boost saying I had been chosen to be mentored.  I don't understand.  I ALWAYS get my line count and more.  I always type my hours.  I have had some good numbers on the Boost reports, one 5, one 3.5, but I have also gotten two 1s, as I do not speed the report up during the report, and I don't use the arrow keys to go to the beginning of the paragraph and such.  Can someone please tell me how the Boost mentor ...

The Mentoring Program
Oct 03, 2014

Happy TGIF, Everyone! After receiving my second corrective action last week, it was strongly recommended by my HDSM that I sign up for the MP with my PC....and she even went so far as to threatened to submit a notation to HR if I didn't do the MP. I've spoken with some of the members in my primary group who told me it was a waste of time and didn't make a difference in their performance. I already knew this, which was why I wasn't gung ho about doing the MP. And after gett ...

My Mentoring Phone Call Is Tomorrow
May 06, 2012

My mentoring phone call is tomorrow. Does everyone get a mentor as well? What do they talk about? I have a list of questions for her but they're mainly about complaints. I'm even going to ask if I can't do my job good enough, then they should do it themselves or even send it back to India. I want to know if this mentoring program is the first step in my being fired. I'm very concerned about my job and maybe I shouldn't ask these questions, but the way they treat us ...

The Dangers Of So-Called Free Mentoring Programs
Mar 07, 2010

Every year there are a few people who start free or for-charge mentoring programs. Stay away from them if they have you transcribing work that they are critiquing. Mentoring is advising, supporting, encouraging, but not having you do their transcription for them for free. Because of privacy issues, you also would be well advised not to send any of your transcription to a 3rd party for help. There are all sorts of red flags. Just be careful. Over the years many of these free programs have turned ...
