I have a friend who works for a local hospital, but the hospital is outsourcing the transcription to Medquist beginning in April. So, even though she isn't happy about this, she has no choice in the matter. One of her concerns among others is how much the health insurance is for family coverage. I searched and the post I saw was from 2008 so it has probably changed since then. If anyone would be so kind as to share what the cost is now and the deductible and generally whether it is good or bad I would appreciate it.
Also, she is a radiology transcriptionist. How is radiology paid there, on a per line basis, per page, etc? And how much average per line or page, etc? Do you run out of work frequently, etc?

[ In Reply To ..]Insurance for family coverage is $250 per paycheck for medical, $48 for dental. Copays are $25 for doc and $35 for specialist and $2500 per year for out of pocket for inpatient care.
I can't speak to radiology pay rates....I don't do radiology. I am a tier 3 and frequently run out of work. If you want to work graveyards and weekends, I am sure there would be more work.....not for me.
