Here I am teetering around the production quota and why?? Because I have to do so much work that is not paid for and is time consuming (entering the ADT info, cc information that is beyond what is in their database) and trying to deciper a lengthy and convoluted CP, plus trying to figure out which, if any, document standard has to be used and finding it in a long list of standards for Ctl S. I had requested that that document format associated standards be put at the top of the list which is easily done by adding a 1 or something to the file name to bring it to the top, but they don't want to do that. Plus, I was told I would learn which standards are necessary as I do the account more. Well shesh, the CP is so poorly written that I will never figure that out. So, if I can't see a document standard in the first few templates on Ctl S, or the CP is not quickly and easily read, forget it. I will wait until someone sends me a note that I have done that work type wrong and instructs me about what template I am to use. I could not believe it when reply to my problem with figuring out the template required was to look up other reports of that work type to see the what the format should be. What the heck? Spend even more time searching through DQM?? Add to that that so many people are already not following the CP because they have the same problem and/or are floating by while in the 'cesspool'. We start using DQS 7.1 in a couple of weeks (supposedly as it has been delayed several times and over a year), and we have been gleefully told that the CP will be right there with every document [so now we have no excuse not to follow it] so we won't have to spend the time using F5 and switching screens. Oh [and BTW], that new account you will be getting has many work types with many different sets of instructions in the CP [that must be followed because we know you have the CP sitting there in full view with every document]. My compliance level has gone in the toilet now. Do I get unemployment in California if I am fired?

Yes, you will see the CP in doc 7.1 right on the screen. Still not easy to read or decipher.

I would do the best you can. That is it. I basically follow a general CP that I formed from the BOS and from MQ guidelines. I use "the patient" even if names are allowed, unless its a letter. I use "at bedtime" and not h.s. even if the CP says its ok. I dont care anymore. I expand all dates, August 28, 2012.

The only thing I really check the CP for is the Physical Exam section, to see if it should be in CAPS and flush right, or paragraph.

I check every report by doing Ctrl S first, in case there is a standard, and if I dont know which one, I call the QC and ask, but most of the time I can get which one they want.

I add the attendings for a copy, even if not instructed to.

This is working for me. If I get a report back, I will explain that I am being bounced around from account to account and I cant keep everything straight. I am not a machine. Even though the CP is right there, it is not easy to read, I dont get paid to read it from start to finish before each report, I do the best I can, and that I will try harder.

That is it. If they fire me, fine. I will fight it as far as I have to in order to get unemployment, and then I get enrolled in school. That is my plan. So far, it is working.

Try it out. You are more productive when not stressed, and like I said, it is working just fine for me and I am not at all stressed. It is what it is...

I was on an account that only put in med rec number and you had to do search and find correct stay, put in all the dates of consultation, operation, service, etc, referring physician, consulting physician, and then it was a hospital and none of the referring doctors were in the data base for carbon copies and had to be added manually. I finally just gave up.

Hmmm...I wonder what its like at other companies? - I suspect its just about the same.

It's not the same at other companies. MedQuist/M*modal or whatever name they are hiding under it's just bad. They make it to hard, after SP, 5 different acute care accts, with hundreds of pages of Acct Specs that had to be searched constantly, my last few checks were only about $300 clear for 2 weeks. I almost lost my home because of them. Get out, other places are not anything like them.

It's an outrage to have your CPL cut in half with editing but for the company to expeCT scan the same quota (dollar wise per pay period) to maintain benefits is a kick in the teeth. Just a general question. I'm not asking for and really don't want to start something.....I would just like to know......if you are working for a national company and their line per hour requirement is 260, do you make, or exceed, it? And, if so, do you find it extremely difficult or fairly easy to achieve. How in the heck are you supposed to make any money doing SR? Is it possible? I make good money as a transcriptionist and have avoided SR up to now. Honest to Pete, this woman has no clue about pronunciation. A couple of reports ago she's reading a radiology report and says very clearly "primitive destruction" and then goes on to spell it "permeative."
