I DESPISE the new physician lookup feature. - exasperated

Posted: Sep 05, 2010

So let me get this straight:

I want to put a physician's name in the report.  I hit CTRL + N and start typing the last name.

Before, it was nice.  The search would happen automatically.

NOW I have to tell it to search (even for mandatory ADT names when you hit enter to get to the physician lookup)?  Why?  That is another keystroke that is wasted, and add to that, it was nice before that if you hit the letter 's' it would scroll to all the docs with last names beginning with 's'.  That way, if you couldn't fully understand the name, you could kinda scroll through and figure it out.

that it would be one way to stop MT's from continually putting in the wrong doctor by forcing them to pay attention to what they are doing.

There is never a week that goes by without an email from our CCM or QTL reminding the team to pay attention to this.

Every.single.week.for.two.years on the same account. Obviously something had to be done.

One wonders if the suits who came up with this nonsense consulted the troops who do the work to ascertain what the problems are. A wise philosopher once said, "Once you are up to your keester in alligators, you remember that your main objective was to drain the swamp."

Brin dead? How can they be dead from something they don't have??

don't you remember, they did a survey? - NJA Queen

I know many people including myself were vocal on this board to leave the survey alone and not answer. Every time MQ does a survey they twist the results to justify a pay cut or a change that only benefits the suits and hurts the MT. People are complaining about running out of work- lets have the cesspool! People are complaining about ASR- lets make it worse! They did consult the troops- unfortunately they didn't like the answers that were given.

It's not only bad, it's getting verse! - dovestar

I got my brand new softwear
It's DQS Six One
And every time I use it
I think I'll get the runs
This thing is so confusing
It slows me down much more
If I go any slower
I'll be typing on the floor!
Now in the line above I said
Six One; that's no mistake
For every time I use it
It's more than hard to take
In figuring all this nonsense out
My brains move out of joint
It's caused me so much trouble
Because THEY don't get the point!

AMAZING! - why are you transcribing 4 a living?

You are very talented! Thanks for the laugh!

Specialty Lookup Has Changed :-(
May 30, 2013

There's a site I'd been referencing for a long time when I couldn't find a doctor through Fluency, which is often. It was always easy, user friendly and reliable, and I could usually find the doctor I was looking for under his or her specialty. Now it's been changed to a newer, sleeker pretty look, but the format for finding a doctor doesn't work and is not helpful at all. For instance, in looking up, say, Pulmonary doctors, it shows an assortment of doctors of variou ...

Previous Report Lookup Is Ridiculous
Mar 07, 2010

Another idea of MQ's that might sound good in theory but in practice this is totally ridiculous. First off, I can't even get any reports to come up....I tried different variations of entering info into the search, only to get nothing back.....so stupid.   Second, do they really think we can do this with how LONG it takes.....first you have to sign out of DQS, then sign back in with a different password to get to DQM?  Get out of here!    I was hoping that maybe ...

Anyone Use The Ctrl-G Feature On Doc 7?
Apr 16, 2012

Just curious if anyone is using it.  It is supposed to save us keystrokes (like they really care) but I turned it off after the first 2 lines of my first ASR report.  I was wasting more time than usual trying to attach and reattach and didn't see a benefit.  I would love to hear if someone has found it beneficial.  Otherwise the new 7 is fine.  I love being able to change the font size and type to whatever mood strikes me for the day.  Same keystrokes to access ...

Epic - Partial Dictation Feature
May 11, 2011

I have a client that will be implementing an Epic EMR.  Epic has indicated to them that the providers can dictate a "partial dictation" during a note they are entering.  Epic offers them the option to have the transcriptionist transcribe that note directly into Epic.  So far, I have only been able to find MTSOs and in-house MTs who use the partial dictation feature, but have kept their old software platform (i.e., eScription, Nuance, etc) and the provider dictates into that s ...

Customizing MS Word Auto Number Feature
Dec 23, 2009

We use a Word-based (2003) platform and when the documents are finished, they are automatically uploaded into Meditech.  Most of the transcriptionists at our work have hashed out and come up with the best way to number lists that looks nice in Meditech.  About half of us use the auto number feature and the rest do not.  I have figured out how to customize the auto number feature to the way we want it formatted, but the settings did not stick when I signed ...

Resident Physician

I have alway been told when in doubt, leave a blank. Resident did not give attending physician's name. There was a doctor's name in the hearder as attending, but I  was not sure so I left the attending line blank at the bottom of the report. Associated Or Associative Physician

The doctor I transcribe for sometimes says "Associated Physician" and sometimes says "Associative Physician" and then lists the doctor's name.   Sometimes he will also list a "Primary Physician."  Just curious to see if there is a difference between associated vs associative and if one would be better than the other in this situation.  Any thoughts? Another Physician's Comments On Using The EMR
Nov 23, 2012

Below is a link to a NY Times editorial.  "The advent of electronic medical records has been a boon to patient safety and physician efficiency in many ways. But it has also brought with it a slew of “timesaving” tricks that have had some unintended consequences. These tricks make it so easy for doctors to document the results of standard exams and conversations with patients that it appears more and more of them are being documented without ever having happened in the first pla ...
