Anyone never use Benchmark or Job Lookup? - Ricekrispies

I just got an e-mail to remind me how to sign up for Benchmark and get "enabled" to do that DQM job lookup. I read on this board that both are time consuming and basically worthless. Is it mandatory to sign up to do all that junk?

I found the job lookup very time consuming and not worth digging around in for most charts. I actually use the repository more often, although it has its share of errors to watch out for. I have not used BMKB yet because I have no problem finding what I need with Google and other sites I have been using over the years for physicians and such.

that if something is contained in a document we "could have" looked up (not in the repository which I gladly use despite its errors), then we will be marked off. It supposedly is part of our "First Time Right" responsibility. I also don't use that Benchmark, have no problem with Goggling, and my CCM said it wasn't mandatory. I was just wondering about having to dig around for old charts, all the time it takes us and a lot of times there's just nothing to be found, a waste of our time. I used to work for another MTSO that allowed us very easy access to old charts which was an asset, not a burden.

It said if you send a report through with blanks and they happen to check against old reports and find that you could have looked it up in an old report and filled in the blank, you will get counted off. If it happens repeatedly, you get performance managed.

1. Look up. CCM gave us good instructions to use Prev. Report Look up; I use it a lot, esp. for drugs, diagnoses, and strange phrases; probably average look up 3 reports an hour. Big timesaver for me, once I got the hang of it. I keep a quicky log of facility names, doc's names I look up and their #. Makes look up a cinch.
2. Benchmark I keep open, maybe access once every 2 hours, usually just to verify a lab value, drug or a word. Use the AHDI Research info; useful! Like having medical dictionary open. Only 7 out of 31 of possible Stedman's books come loaded; Quick Look is one of them.

Actually I do use it as I do a lot of letters and I use the physcian look up which comes in very handy. I also use the lab value portion - both probably several times a day.

I find both Benchmark and the lookup feature very helpful, especially Benchmark. I sometimes find the look up feature time consuming both as an MT doing transcription and as an MME filling in MT blanks. If everyone would do it once, especially for the dictators who are reptative, chances are it wont have to be done a second time and saves time for both the MT and the MME who has to look it up when the MT doesn't.

Big timesaver for me. Benchmark is easier for me than flipping through a book especially for drug names and lab values. I find it in many cases to be less time-consuming than searching the internet. The report lookup saves me from having to put in blanks for unclearly dictated medication names, sloppy dictators old dictations (PE, ROS, operative notes), etc. I use it all the time and, again, not as time-consuming to me because I do use it often and no difference in time than other methods for me and in some cases less time spent. I think it is a very useful tool.

If I'm not quite sure about something, or am not quite what a doctor is saying, I'd look for a similar report for reference. As it turns out, what I'm using as a reference from "previously dictated" reports is being marked off on my reports as an error. Can we do nothing right anymore????

Another idea of MQ's that might sound good in theory but in practice this is totally ridiculous. First off, I can't even get any reports to come up....I tried different variations of entering info into the search, only to get nothing back.....so stupid. So let me get this straight: I want to put a physician's name in the report. I hit CTRL + N and start typing the last name. Before, it was nice. The search would happen automatically. NOW I have to tell it to search (even for mandatory ADT names when you hit enter to get to the physician lookup)? Why? That is another keystroke that is wasted, and add to that, it was nice before that if you hit the letter 's' it would scroll to all the docs with last name ...

I found this website on google and they say they will provide you with the book of style v.3, and stedman's medical spellchecker along with lots of other references electronically for a membership fee of $200/year. Medquist is very close to signing up for yet another year of Benchmark. So very few people use it and the corporate people are trying to find out why. Seriously. I wonder if they will listen this year when we tell them that we don't want it, don't use it and it is a colossal waste of money. I know we have to install and whatever, and there are all of these steps, and I really do not want anything else on this old MQ computer to slow it down more. I am pretty content with the sites I go to and really don't want to learn another program. It is telling me unathorized and use correct form. Using ADP # and password Medquist, but not working. I am able to log into Benchmark KB with my ID and password from the settlement, but there is no drug reference and stedmans on that one. Please let me know if anyone can help. I'm trying to look up a doctor's name and enter the first 2 letters of the last name. Well, even the doctors I know are in that state, because they are at the hospital in that state, aren't on the list!! Under MT News - How to become a legal transcriptionist. Hmmm... maybe a hint????
