Mouth piece and all! Why, I will never know. Never used it.

Speaking of headsets, need a new one, PLEASE HELP - see message

I have used a Spectra, and just ran over the cord to my Glimmer pink with the vacuum. I was not completely happy with the sound quality of the Glimmer, but could be because I am getting old and deaf, who knows.

I have always wanted to try the stethoscope style, but never had the guts. I also have a large head and a boat load of curly frizzy hair so I am worried about over the head styles.

Please let me know what works for you and why, and an idea of the price. I wish there was a transcription headset store near by where I could go try them out... :(

Go for a stereo headset - Not a so-called transcription headset

you'll get much better sound quality for your money that way.

I personally like the over the head style - those ear bud or stethoscope styles make my ears hurt after a couple of hours.

I have a nice set of Bose headphones that are admittedly on the more expensive side ($140) but worth every single penny. My first pair lasted about two years but that was because the kitten finally got to the cord despite my machinations to keep it away from him. When they redesigned it, they made the cord replaceable, thank goodness, so this pair should last forever.

I wouldn't ever voluntarily go back to a "transcription" headset again. Terrible sound quality.

After 20+ years, I switched to the Bose and cannot believe what a difference this set makes. Worth every penny.

My headset: Sennheiser HD 202. Blows any of my other "MT" headsets out of the H2O lol.

behind the ear headset - OHMT

I don't like the over-the-head type because I have the opposite problem as you. Small head, can't adjust them down far enough.

I don't like earbuds, either; they just annoy me.

I think the most comfortable are the ones that hang behind the head. I can put them under my hair so I don't have that hair-under-the-collar feeling. They are lightweight and comfortable. I have Sony, cost about $20.00. The sound quality is decent; way better than the stethoscope type I was issued at my last job (was sending lots of reports with blanks with those and getting reamed by my boss for it... well, she gave me a cheapo headset, duh!).

You should be able to find them at Office Max or Staples or maybe even Best Buy. You might want to take an MP3 player with you to the store; maybe they'd let you try them out. Just make sure you get the right plug (or an adapter if you need one) for your headphone jack.

Happy shopping!

I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones which are fantastic. Not quite as good as Bose, but not as expensive, either. About $80, Best Buy or other such stores. I'll never use those earbud or stethoscope style again, either.

I tried one like that, but it pulled on my ears and gave me a headache - nm

I'm an MME, and in editing reports these past few weeks I'm noticing a huge number of gender mix ups in the reports I'm seeing.  In some reports, it almost seems to toggle back and forth from he/she/him/her, etc with absolutely no consistency.  It seems to be an ASR issue.  I'm not sure why it's happening but what I AM noticing is that a lot of MTs aren't catching it.  If I am the MME for your report, I will always correct them while I'm fil ...

I keep getting dinged for comma usage, and I'm not one to overuse them, though I fully support the use of an Oxford comma.  I am old school, and I've been taught the following about commas 1)  They go before a conjunction when what could be complete sentence follows. 2)  They do not go before or after (unless there is a strange circumstance, i.e, "indeed" or some such wording thrown in) a conjunction w/o a complete sentence following it. My hospitals are "modified ver ...
