HEAD UP NJA - Misty Fied

Posted: Jul 21, 2010

I read EVERYDAY about ppl on this board having no jobs at the Q, not being able to contact their CCM or RTL to get work.  I got a phone call (not an e-mail) ASKING if I could take on another couple of accounts because "the people assigned to these accounts apparently can't get their TAT up"  The sugar on top is this is suppose to be a "straight type facility"...  WOW!

I took the accounts, I mean, I've been working steady for about 3 - 4 months, FT hours, nary a NJA day and still read ppl are without work?!  Is there a method to this madness?  Yell

Its called "planned obsolescence". - nm

.

I was fine, until the Spheris merge. - All of a sudden, a complete change.

[ In Reply To ..]
Been with MQ since 1998. Doing okay. This past month has been, well, UNREAL. Complete change around. Night and day I tell you.

Am I way off base here? - Just wondering

[ In Reply To ..]
Could they be cutting off the work from certain MTs? The ones that, for whatever reason, they're trying to get rid of? With all the employees MQ has, is it within the realm of possibility that the ones who continually have NJA are the MTs who have either questioned a policy or procedure or something, anything, to irk them and this is their payback, or some scenario similar to that?

It just makes no sense to me that a group of MTs continually battle NJA while others flourish. It just doesn't make any sense no matter which way I try to wrap my (albeit addled) little brain around it.

I have 99.4% QA audits, work evenings, been here - FOREVER, and have no jobs.

[ In Reply To ..]
My QA submission rate is practically nil. I am on the list as "one of the best." I have not had a raise since 1999 because they say I make too much. Yet. . ., I HAVE NO WORK! Unless, I now change my hours to weekends.

I must be on the hit list.

If youre making what the suits deem to be "too much" - then yes, youre definitely on the hit list. sm

They're trying to STARVE YOU OUT.
I already know that. Waiting to be fired. - Fortunately, I can hold on.
[ In Reply To ..]
It will be tight for my family and may have to dip into savings, but I can hold out. Wanting to collect unemployment. I have all the records kept of how I have been treated from way back for the last 20 some years. Hoping to get that TAA so I can go back to school to do something more worthy.
phasing out - enigma
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm afraid that's what is happening with me, and I flat-out ASKED them, "Am I being phased out because my pay rate is too high?" No response.

This is what is now happening to me. - You tell me what you think?

[ In Reply To ..]
So, I had my primary and secondary accounts and doing just fine with MQ. Been with company for a long time. After this merge, I was told I HAVE to move with my primary to a new manager. I wanted to stay with my old manager and keep my secondary accounts, but told I would have a lot more work if I moved over with my primary. There were a dozen of us that got moved.

I did get to keep my primary. I work evenings and 2 hours on Sunday. I had to learn 3 other new accounts in my BOB.

I started getting no work, basically the jobs were coming in very slow and have ended up with no jobs all the time for the past few weeks.

Talked to manager and was told I need to switch over to weekends, but I said no because I already switched over to evenings a few years ago and I would have rather worked days.

Because I will not switch to weekends, there is nothing that can be done and so I am out from the group. Company supposedly does not know what to do with me and trying to figure it out. So I have to hang tight and have no jobs for awhile until they figure it out. I will have be switched again to another group, new manager and all new accounts. Beware! This is what you get for working evenings and not switching to weekends.

ANYBODY ELSE HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS? I recall there were some that have.

Well, you know what comes next! Next, they'll - be asking you to MOVE TO INDIA. .n/m.

..
Haha. We all will have to go to India or - NO JOBS AVAILABLE. No message below

xxxxx

Of course they are. Its happening even at the - smaller MT companies. I bet - s/m

[ In Reply To ..]
in 10 years, MT will be a 100%-Indian (or Chinese) "career". The only way to get into it will be to move there.

Completely agree with you. - Did you guys know,

[ In Reply To ..]
there is a Facebook for strictly MQ. Anybody can read it without having a Facebook account by googling, "Facebook Medquist".

A guy posted stating how CBAY is transferring all MT JOBS to India and other comments that he posted.
My hope is that philosophy comes back to bite them - sm

I know there are some big hospitals that refuse to have their work offshored, not because of their great American spirit but rather their concern about HIPAA and misappropriation of patient information and how much money that could cost them in a lawsuit. If Big Hospital A makes it know that they refuse, other big hospitals may do the same, especially as the restrictions on HIPAA get tighter and their legal team tells them they don't have a lot of recourse if somebody pulls crap 9000 miles away.

Where will Kumar be then? Sitting there with a bunch of empty cubicles in Chennai and a US staff of 200 matchbook trained MTs putting whatever sound they hear (or think they hear) into the document for a whopping 4-5 cpl.

Those MTSOs that had the foresight to at least hang onto their good US MTs will be able to clean up.

I just hope I live long enough to see it.
I think India will soon be in the same position were - in now, once China starts siphoning -

away all their work for an even lower rate. And we all know the *GREAT* quality of products that come out of THAT country. Their ethics are bottom-of-the-barrel, too.

I'd sure like to get into something else. But -------- what exactly is left in this country that ISN'T in danger of being offshored? We've got ESLs coming in to be doctors and nurses; we've got radiology reports being read offshore; and likely even management positions will be headed there, as well. Not a whole lot left, except Wal-Mart Greeter, or Dog-Walker.
Have you seen the movie Outsourced? - Worth a watch
[ In Reply To ..]
A comedy about losing one's job to offshoring (rather than Outsourcing, as the title would imply). Has some really funny but predictable moments.
And prostitute, although on-line web cams have cut into that, too. - nm

Absolutely agree! - enigma

I foresee disastrous results for hospitals who allow offshore access to their data.

I keep getting dinged for comma usage, and I'm not one to overuse them, though I fully support the use of an Oxford comma.  I am old school, and I've been taught the following about commas 1)  They go before a conjunction when what could be complete sentence follows. 2)  They do not go before or after (unless there is a strange circumstance, i.e, "indeed" or some such wording thrown in) a conjunction w/o a complete sentence following it. My hospitals are "modified ver ...
