Has anyone used Start-Stop Transcription and how do you like it?

when I had an issue with using the ftp portion of it and asking for support help, after a couple of hours of trying to fix it, the support guy said "it is broke." and suggested he would return after speaking to coworkers about problem. I am still waiting and that was nearly a year ago. I would no longer recommend them, as they do not support their own software to the point where they will truly help you. I use a different source now and relatively happy with it.

Can I ask what type of system you use now? Are you an independent contractor with small clinics?

a prospective company I had applied to requested that I use it. It is expensive for what you get, which is basically just the wavplayer. I ended up not staying with that company, and now a different company I am in training with is requesting that we get the Olympus system, which is also very expensive, and I do not want to because since I am still in training, I cannot really afford to keep buying different systems for different company preferences. It is my opinion that if they want to have the MTs convert wav files to dss files, they should do the converting before sending it to us who have different systems, in order to play their files. I am tired of handing out money for different systems, and then not ending up losing the job due to emr or something. so far, I have spent nearly 1K this year to accommodate potential companies....what am I getting out of it? sorry, had to vent. conversion of different files is a big thing, really, so if you are looking into software, please consider that when making the choice. Olympus also requires a "different foot pedal" so there is another expense I cannot handle right now. sigh.

I totally understand your point. It seems ike the transcriptionist gets the raw end of the deal many times. I appreciate your input. Good luck with your job!

Does anyone who is using Emdat/Inscribe use this foot pedal? If so, does it work well for you? I am currently using an Infinity USB-1 foot pedal and even though I have configured it on the Emdat/Inscribe platform, it just doesn't work like it should. I checked the price of the Universal Start/Stop Foot Pedal and found that it costs around $100. I am reluctant to pay that much before finding out if it actually works well with this platform. MQ has made big changes to my primary account. Now things are all messed up and because of it, we have to re-enter redundant information in the ADT screen. For example, it says ADT Attending and ADT Admitting with the doc's names. No one is going to do it for us. There is wage theft, minimum wage, changing of timecards, disrespect for our knowledge, ridiculous working conditions, bad management, and no communication. than some of these idiots who you have to muddle through on day after day after day ad nauseum? I am transcribing this dictator tonight who has had one patient with "infantigo" and on her "review of symptoms" she dictates "Eyes" as a subheading by itself then does HEENT later on in the review. Last night I did two fairly long duplex studies where the doctor says "use my standard" with a lot of "move this, take that out, insert this..." Not difficult, but time consuming. When I went in to look at my line count after my shift, I got a total of 20 lines for the two reports, or 16.48 cents! What gives with this? Did I miss the memo, or did they just not tell us? Next week they'll be asking us to pay them when we actually get work. :o( ...

I agree with that wholeheartedly. But unions CAN force fair compensation for the skill and experience with the new technology. I have never understood the concept that MTs should be paid half of what they normally get paid for straight typing when doing VR editing.
