Is MT starts not well known? - Curious

Currently it says there are 161 visitors online. Of all the MTs in the US this just seems like such a smalllllll number. I know it gets up to like 320 that is the most I have seen EVER, and I have been on this board for a couple years (with some longer periods of absence for some reason)...

Just wondering why there aren't more people? I mean, not that I think there should be, I never have enough time to read any of the posts as it is haha...

Because most productive and happy MTs are working and making a living - .....Taking a break

There's a small percentage of people who like to post on message boards to begin with. I have found that the majority of people on this board in particular tend to be the ones who are not happy with the way the industry is evolving. It's a very small portion of the actual numbers of MTs out there. I think the rest of them are just working and making a living and not getting caught up in the foolishness. I know I certainly don't come here nearly as much as I did at first. Too much silliness.

MTStars is not the only MT forum.
There are quite a lot out there, many MT schools have their own forums and also MTSOs have their own forums.

Not all MTs know that this forum exists.

I agree, not everybody is a blogger.

Often, people after getting banned do not care to come back.

I agree, sometimes threads derail and discussions end in trashing and silliness.

Do you want to say that all people who participate on forums are lazyy, unemployed, whining, and dumb?

It is quite a good source of information, what's really going on.

I prefer to read a forum than the advertisement that schools or the labor department put out, so incorrectly and misleading.

Actually, I really like this board. But at least among some of my former co-workers, MTStars is known as the "b-tch board". I see it as a board where MTs can express what they really think and how they really feel.

They object to the "complaints and negativity". Well, some things need saying, and if you can't complain to your colleagues, to whom can you complain? That's why the anonymity of this board is a very good thing for those who wish to avail themselves of it.

Of course, there's the usual trolling and flaming off and on, but hey, that's just the Internet. I find it funny, and a good laugh is hard to find.

I think the count is for the number online at any - given time. So there could be - sm

several thousand or more who read this board, but the count you're seeing is for the number online RIGHT NOW. So I think the 161 you saw was just for how many are reading at the same time you are.

Users Online doesn't mean a total of 161 or 320 in total for a day.

Count the Resumes added for a particular day to estimate how many new MTs are joining MTStars daily.

I was looking for info on a company and referred by a colleague to MTStars two years back. I still remeber the words she used "Search MTStars.com, if it's not on MTStars, it's not in the MT industry".

I love the uncensored posts and freedom of speech here, which sometimes referred as "rude" etc. by fellow MTs and corporate managers watching this board. Trust me, it's the only ubiased site in industry today. To learn the reason, read the top lines here:

A lot of MTs I work with don't know about this site. I tell them about it. But probably either people are working or off doing things outdoors for the holiday reason. I myself am about to take my down time between jobs and clean my house. During the week there are usually more people on the site. Also a poster above was right when she said most of the people who come here and post are unhappy/disgruntled. Very rarely do people start a post if everything is going okay.

Usually when I'm finished with work I'm worn out and don't do anything. With cleaning I do a job then go back and check for more work, etc.

I also feel the opposite of a lot of people. I absolutely love to clean. Maybe it's the old military in me getting ready for inspections, but I love cleaning and getting into every little corner. I'm not an outdoor person. Can't stand gardening (was forced to do it growing up). Now I'll stick with indoor cleaning.

I was wondering what my fellow MTs think is going to happen starting 2014 when Obamacare kicks in. I had read an article in the NY Post a while back that 74% of MDs surveyed plan to work part time, retire from medicine, or go in a new direction careerwise. Do you think we'll see a decrease in work available, even SR editing work? Do you think that if a great amount of MDs cut back or retire from medicine that would cause our profession to lessen in demand? ...

Lately after I have done a few reports, EditScript starts to get slow. I hit a key and there is a delay before it does anything. Not much of a delay, but still delayed enough to slow me down. Eventually, it gets soo slow that uploading the current report and downloading the next one becomes next to impossible and I have to close it out and reboot the program. Anyone else experience this or know the problem and a fix? TIA ...

I know some of you are on lockdown already and for that you have my utmost sympathy and empathy. We are supposed to start tomorrow. There are NO HOURS on the swap board and we have been running into NJA every day since MQ did the management shuffle. I have my resumes out and took some tests this weekend.
