Transcend and WebM pay periods - mt22

Posted: Dec 29, 2009

Can someone enlighten me as to how the pay periods run for these 2 companies? Is it every other Friday, every 2 wks, maybe someone can tell me when the first pay period in January is for each, I am trying to make a decision and the pay dates are going to make a difference, don't like getting paid twice a month, would prefer every other week on a set date. Thanks

Transcend pays twice a month. - As for pay dates...

[ In Reply To ..]
... the first actual pay date of 2010 is January 11, but that is for the pay period of December 16-31, 2009. The pay date for the first pay period of 2010 (January 1-15) happens on January 25. Payday is generally about 6 business days after the end of the pay period. Direct deposit is available.

Webnedx twice a month, Mondays - next one Januarth 4 - nm

Webmedx - not twice a month - Emeralds

They pay every 2 weeks on Mondays, not twice a month. The pay period just started this past Monday, 12/28. Our pay dates for January are the 4th and the 18th, the 1st and 15th for February, the 1st, 15th, and 29th for March, etc.

Can you by any chance tell me what kind of health insurance, etc., that they have?
Health insurance - Webber

Insurance is BC/BS. They recently raised the premiums, deductibles, co-pays, etc. The family plan will be $311 per pay period (every 2 weeks). I don't remember the cost of the single plans. Co-pays are $25 for a regular office visit and $50 for a specialist. Deductibles are $1500 for individual, $3000 per family. They pay 70% after the deductible is satisfied. There is a closed formulary; I'm not sure of the details on that. You will end up spending a lot of money out of pocket with their insurance plan. If you are healthy and have no preexisting conditions you might do better getting a plan on your own.

Thanks for the info. I had BC/BS at my last job, 20 and 35 copays, I think 80% after deductible. I am single with grown kids. Cannot remember the deductible amount! The thing I am not too happy about is the 90 day wait period!!

just have to gripe about 2x/month from ANY company - MTbucket

[ In Reply To ..]
it is cruel treatment, period. Making employees wait for what turns out to be the smaller check of 2 for almost 3 weeks is completely insensitive, and shows no concern for MTs whatsoever, and it is borderline abusive.

it proves these companies only care about their profits. ours was changed with no advanced warning last year, just out of the blue, by the way - after all my bills had already been set up to be paid using automatic payments every 2 weeks. we were always getting them in just in time before late fees, etc., also.

NOW we are CONSTANTLY in arrears with our creditors because of only having income 2x/month, and late fees (hefty!) are being assessed monthly.

I have actually lost 23 pounds over this past year from not having enough money for food because for 3 weeks I have absolutely no income.

...and health insurance premiums, we also got the options changed abruptly with no advanced warning and I went from a real nice plan to complete CRAP for the state I live in. needless to say my credit has been ruined just in this past year from working as an MT.

I, however, will not leave until there would be something better. we cannot possibly go any lower in income.

we do now qualify though for assistance with some utilities because my paychecks have been so low.

meanwhile, the rich people in our neighborhood are buying up all the property around and spending money like it is water...

I'm not sure what to make out of your post - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Your pay is what it is, whether you are paid once a week, every other week, twice a month, once a month.

If you aren't adult and responsible enough to budget your money and spend it as you need, then the problem lies with you.

Your qualification for any assistance is probably based on your monthly gross at minimum, not one specific paycheck.

MT work is not for everyone.

haha...what is it you don't understand, less money, no money for almost 3 weeks - MTbucket

[ In Reply To ..]
having a career for almost 20 years and starting out making 50,000 a year to making 21,000 - what aren't you understanding? To top it off I now have to wait almost 3 weeks in between checks, and that is for the smaller check?

I don't appreciate your insult and backhanded comment about not being an adult, either. I'll give you a pass, however, because you obviously have money or family to help you, or a husband who supports you, or perhaps just are one of those 'lucky' MTs who seems to make more money than an average MT for whatever reasons. I'm the MT who gets all the hideous dictation, not anything conducive to making money.

my qualification for assistance is based on the last 4 paychecks. what's your point?

the problem in my opinion lies with people like you who would diminish everyone and anyone who is not like yourself. I am not a martyr and I am commenting on what has happened to this profession in the last 20 years since I have been in it.

according to you, we should all just suffer through and accept whatever is given to us. that's intelligent and adult (not)...actually, sounds more childlike to me.
Okay, now that you have added this information ... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I see that you are mixing your topics up. I was responding to your statement that a bimonthly check means less money for an MT. That was what you said. It doesn't matter how often your checks - it is your responsibility to budget yourself.

You, however, seem extremely angry and bitter and state one topic but argue another one. I didn't say anything about your pay dropping. However, as stated in my previous post: MT work is not for everyone.

Your credit was ruined because you didn't do something different to ensure you lived within your means (either decrease your debt or earn more money). If you aren't making it with what you are doing (regardless of whether your earnings have dropped or not over a period of time), it is your responsibility alone to get out there and do something about it.

The surprising and sad issue I see is that so many of you are WILLING to sit there and run yourself into the ground financially because you don't want to do anything else about it.

Go to school. Work in another line of work. Work 2 jobs. Change your budget.

Yes, I can say all this because I have done those things. I've been without and, after having gone through it, I realize it was MY responsibility only. It was no one else's fault.

Falling wages have been a problem for our economy, this industry and MANY OTHER INDUSTRIES for a good bit of time now. You CAN do something else. You CAN go to school.

Do something other than blame everyone else.

Your last statement shows just how you are not comprehending anything at all about my posts: Absolutely you should NOT just suffer through and accept whatever is given. You should get off your haunches and learn to do something else and work in a different field of work if this one isn't cutting it for you.

Geesh.
And just for the record ... - sm

I raised my children as a single divorced mother without any child support NOR any federal assistance by doing MT work.

It is disgusting to see single parents play that card. It's no different for you than anyone else. Been there, done that.

I was in the same situation as you, Geesh person - Lynn
[ In Reply To ..]
I was the divorced mother of 2, no child support ever and no federal assistance and I could not sit around and put us on the soup line. This is not new on this board. For some reason the people here feel like they have to work at home, no one can go out and get a job. You say work 2 jobs, I always had 2 jobs years ago because if one failed, hey I had the other. Usually did not stop at 2 jobs, 3 sometimes. You cannot tell me there is absolutely nothing to do. What about taking a short course to help seniors out in their homes, what about applying for work in a doctor's office, how many are there out there, get into cleaning homes. I have new housekeeper, had to get rid of the first because she wanted more per day than I made and I thought just not going to pay that but my housekeeper now charges $12.00 an hour, not bad and I doubt any taxes are paid on that, how many houses can you do in a week's time? Even your hamburger joints always need someone. Saw an opening yesterday at my friendly pizza house for a morning cashier. There are jobs, you have to go and find them.

housekeeper then. That was when I had all those jobs and did not get around to much of anything except working. That one was very inexpensive, the last one priced herself out of a job with me and then this lady comes about every other week, does washing also.

[ In Reply To ..]
Lynn, I, too, have a housekeeper. I currently make $33/hour and pay my housekeeper $15/hour. Why should I waste valuable time I could be transcribing at the higher rate I am paid when I can have someone handle the house for me? It frees me up for work and provides a good job for her, too. Everybody wins. An economist would say that I made a smart decision.

Are there any companies left out there that still pay weekly?

even biweekly you are lucky - MTbucket

[ In Reply To ..]
I never realized how great that was, and getting that 3rd check 2 or 3 times a year because of the extra week. in these times when the cost of everything is going up with no control, and almost on a weekly basis, we are not managing so well 2x/month. Even the credit card bill is not monthly, it is every 28 days. we got behind once and now cannot get caught up.

I hope we are the minority and that others are doing better than we are.
I am curious to know, if you went from - Questions

$50,000 per year now down to $21,000, did you ever think about finding another kind of work besides this, or did you just continue on as if nothing was happening?

Question About Quotes And Periods

MTSO's Removing Spaces After Periods?

About Transcend
Mar 28, 2010

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good.  However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem.  On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description.
