Hi everyone, I am new to this board and I have a question, does anyone know anything about Transcend or OSI, how about AllType??  Thank you  Smile

Sometimes some of you people are so rude. It is almost comical. Do you not want new people to sign on and participate? You make new people feel very unwelcome. This site is the only reason I am still trying to find a job. Otherwise, I would have already lost interest and given up.

very good advice. Good grief!! It is the likes of you that this site has the reputation that it has, when someone is nice, gives good advice, you attack them for no reason.

To the OP, just as the other poster stated, go to the top of the page, click on search, enter the name of the company that you are interested in in the search box and hit enter. If no information comes up on a company, come back and post here by all means with specific questions about the company.

You might want to start looking through some of the previous posts and try the search function first. This may tell you a lot of what you need to know about a company.

BTW, if you try to make you questions more specific you'll have better response on this board.

Oh yeah - OSi - Run, Forest, Run!!! Unless you are a newbie and need that first year of experience. They are good for that - I'll give 'em that (only).

has a reputation for overhiring, which means you spend a lot of time with no work. (That's what has happened to me, and I read a lot of similar experiences.) Not *everyone* at Transcend runs out of work, but probably a higher percentage of Transcenders run out of work, than at other MTSOs. Don't know about the other companies. Hope this helps. :)

Transcend - would not be my first choice

If I were you I would avoid Transcend unless you are willing to work basically per diem. They overhire and MTs are constantly sitting with no jobs to download for their shifts more times than not. It would be a good fit if you basically are willing to work part time and/or do not mind not making minimum wage. It is perfect for someone who has TIME to waste or too much time on their hands with nothing better to do. It would not be a good fit if you need to work for a living.

I would NEVER recommend Transcend to anyone. They tell you one thing and do another. Then when you question it, you get the run-around and finally the "if-you-don't like-it-then-leave" email.

AllType is even worse than Transcend. I worked there for a while and don't trust them AT ALL. Check the archives on that one. You'll find some pretty interesting posts.

The manager of QA and customer service and the QA Liaisons are the best I've ever worked with. I know we all have different experiences with different companies, and I am not trying to be argumentative with this post by disagreeing with the original poster, but my experience with AllType has been positive. It's the best company I've worked for in this industry in terms of helpful and fair management.

I worked for OSI for a very brief period of time several years ago. I was hired just before I had a 10 day vacation planned. When I was hired I spoke with 2 different people and explained that I already had this vacation planned and they assured me it was not a problem. I was not able to check emails while I was on vacation, and I came home to several emails asking me why I wasn't working, and finally an email telling me I had been fired for not doing my job. I called them and explained everything and they ended up offering me my job back, but I was not happy with the situation so I declined at that time.

I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements.  They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well .  I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing.  They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that.  I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good.  However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem.  On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description. I was with the company for over five years, not once failing to meet the requirements of me yet I was told my position would have to change to 2nd or 3rd shift if I wanted to keep my job as there were no positions available for 1st shift.  Two days after resigning I see they are hiring for 1st shift positions on a typing only platform which is what I wanted. Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS?  It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.  It is happening exactly how the posters on this board that have been through takeovers by Transcend said - decreased pay. I've been offered a job with Transcend but it is part transcription and part SR.  I've never done SR and have no idea what to expect or what I will earn.  Anybody have any averages for SR lines per hour or work for Transcend and do SR and transcription?  I transcribe about 250-300 lines an hour, if that makes any difference.  Thanks for any words of wisdom. ...

I have been with Transcend for several years.  I loved Transcend in the beginning.  The people cared about me, actually made me feel worthy and valued (25+ years experience) and I felt as though I was part of a family.  I was one of the highest producers because I actually ENJOYED my job.  My quality score, even with high production was over 99% consistently.  Something I took MUCH pride in.  In the past year, all of that has changed drastically...so drastically.&nb ...

At least when they bought my smaller company they didn't cut my pay.  Restructured it, yes, since they didn't pay incentive bonuses, but made absolutely sure I didn't lose money.  Nuance, on the other hand, just gutted me after buying Transcend.  MASSIVE pay cut that is now causing me to have to find a second job.  I already have worked every weekend and almost every holiday for the last 12 years I've been in this industry, now I get to work 7 days a week ...
