Lack of work at Webmedx - Tired

So, for weeks, probably months now I sign on faithfully early morning for my shift and every, single day....no work on my primary, secondary, and sometimes even my third account. It would last perhaps a few hours. Now, lasting almost the entire day. What in the world is going on with this company? Told work is being held for in-house employees in one breath, but in the other oh new account started you will have work soon. Ok, that was last month. So I am financially struggling STILL, now having to flex my schedule even more which is very hard with kids and activities, and Webmedx has the nerve to send me a survey rating them as the best company. Are they serious? They act like it is no big deal to have to flex or take PTO. So, if you are being hired, please don't take the job. You are taking food out of my kids' mouth, and coming to a company that has no work. I dread Monday-Friday now.....

[ In Reply To ..]I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you, Tired, for whatever reason. FYI, my accounts serve up plenty of work most of the time, with only brief dry spots some weekdays and occasional holiday droughts, nothing I can't fix with some flexing. I do work acute care full time. You might try requesting a transfer to work a different region before considering moving on. Good luck.

[ In Reply To ..]Same story here. Not all of us have the time to flex. Even if I did, it isn't fair to expect me to sit at this computer for 12 hours or more to get in 8 hours of work. I wish somebody would have told me when I was hired that virtually all of their accounts are overflow. THEREFORE, we get sloppy seconds. In-house comes first, we are pulled off for hours to muddle through miserable secondary and third accounts. It has been worse for the past couple weeks than ever. Yes, I am tired also, so tired I haven't had the energy to start looking, but I guess it is coming to that.
Its all about the TAT - MTs needs come last
[ In Reply To ..]Overhiring/overscheduling make them look good to the clients (they think). Its sickening the way my supervisor will gloat about how things are "looking great" when all the accounts are sitting at 0 jobs - no MT thinks NSA is "great" - we want to finish our SCHEDULED shift and punch out. They encourage us to flex which only takes away work from the next shift; then everyone is juggling like mad, working any and all hours and pulling our hair out. Absolute chaos and insanity when it comes to staffing - they are aware of this and they do not care - they deliberately panic and encourage others to work OT and run scheduled people out of work for the rest of the day if even ONE job on ONE obscure account is out of TAT. So why should we care about their survey? They get enough of our unpaid time "checking to see if there's any work" 24/7! It gets temporarily better when enough people freak out and quit - but the problem NEVER gets resolved because management likes it this way and hires whether there is work or not.

[ In Reply To ..]In my 2 years with Webmedx I have seen them try hard to balance MT with TAT. Adequate staffing has always been a difficult thing to do in the history of transcription. I think my manager has tried very hard to not overhire. Maybe you could switch areas? Not all managers are good at estimating or maybe even the accounts themselves make that difficult.

[ In Reply To ..]I started to fill out the survey, then realized my ratings of Webmedx were so low it would be best if I opted out(you know, if you haven't got anything good to say about someone...). It would probably serve them right, but I would rather just not do it. I wish they would give us an internal survey asking our opinions of our supervisors so that maybe the higher ups and those with happy MTs could give advice to the ones that are not so good at distributing the work and don't seem to be concerned about MT satisfaction, but maybe it just is not a priority?

Webmedx, you might have once been THE place to work, but you have effectively killed that this year. I doubt anyone would nominate you for anything. Take the hint the fact that only 14% responded (probably management) should speak volumes to you. Time to do some inward reflection.

Webmedx shifts - always waiting
[ In Reply To ..]Your shift is probably good. After all I have been waiting since around 6 this morning and finally have got some considerable work. I do NOT have limited worktypes or experience, but have resisted adding accounts because it brings my line count down and I am such an expert with my accounts and enjoy them. At slow times like this I have to suffer the consequences with waiting, but I also think better supervisors don't spread the work so thinly, and right now I have one that is all about TAT and nothing else, but I am happy enough when there is plenty of work.

Sorry, almost 30 years experience here, can and HAVE done all work types throughout the years, have begged for more accounts, doesn't happen. Yep, third shift should be set. By the time they yank us off our primary for hours each day so in-house has enough, then when we are allowed on, the backlog continues to grow throughout the afternoon. Then us poor idiots with limited work type experience are done with our shifts after waiting for hours for something to type. Glad third shift has work because we sure don't, and it is absolutely through NO FAULT of mine.

There really needs to be a change in the level of meaningful communication. A couple of weeks ago all of a sudden, there were no status updates. It went from 2 a day even on the weekends to nothing for a week. When I finally got one, the supervisor explained they were trying to determine how the work flowed without the status updates. The company I work for is decent, as far as MTSOs go. Pay is better than most but still crappy IMO. The problem is they do not offer direct deposit.
