Is there anyone here who likes working for SoftScript - MT

Posted: Aug 28, 2012

I have a job interview with them.  Need to hear from those who are satisfied with working there.  I have heard off the negatives.  Are there any positives?  What about bennies, cents per line, incentives.  What type of insurance offere and what are the premiums.  TIA

The only good thing I've ever seen posted about them is - me

that they pay on time.

That is about the only good thing!!

Wow!!!! Is that it. There is no one who can say anything good - about SoftScript

I was really hoping this would work out, as I am between a rock and a hard place. My lucrative in-house job has been outsourced to a company using eScription at 037 cpl, and I need something within the next 2-3 weeks.
Sounds like you pretty much have to take whatever you - can get while you keep looking. nm

I can give honest pros and cons as a current SS employee. - FWIW

I have been with SoftScript for just over 2 years now.

Pluses:
1. I like that they do not accept any accounts that want to use VR. Their belief is that it is just a way to cheat the transcriptionist, and I agree.
2. They absolutely do pay on time - regular as clockwork.
3. Their accounts are no worse than any others, which I found surprising given that I figured a lot of accounts would be more difficult because of dictators perhaps not being able to use VR so were willing to go with company that doesn't use it. Not the case, however.
4. My experience with my production managers has been all positive since starting with them. Not necessarily always happy with the way things are going, but that will always be true no matter where you go.
5. They absolutely DO NOT OFFSHORE.

Negatives:
1. They have a tendency to run out of work, I assume due to overstaffing in an effort to try and meet these ridiculous turn-around times being asked of us these days. As an industry, we need to find a better way, which is available to us, just no one wants to take on the 800-pound gorilla in the room in order to make the difference we all need to see.
2. The audio is not the best in the world, but it is by far not the worst either, and I understand they are working on a completely new platform. Been working on it for a while, though, so wouldn't hold my breath on that. Biggest downer to the current audio platform is playback speed is basement technology. It mainly just distorts the voice when you need to slow it down rather than actually slowing it.
3. Overall system, while much better recently, is still kind of slow. Best way to compensate for that is pay for the fastest internet speed you can get and afford and bump your computer performance to its maximum. I currently use a 40-meg high-speed connection, and my computer has an i7 processor plus other enhancements, so overall I do okay.

Currently, the work is busting through the seems and more is coming on board. They also may be hiring a lot right now because of perhaps recently having lost people. Don't know if that is the case or not, but I do know they just recently revised the production teams and reorganized accounts and put on at least one new production manager to handle the changes and incoming new accounts. As far as pay, that will be what they offer you, which you will have to decide to take or leave, and I have no idea what they currently offer new hires. When I hired on, I came with 20+ years of experience, and I think they may have offered me a little more than they typically do because of that experience. Can't say for sure, though, so if you have a lot of experience don't expect any special treatment based on my speculation.

Hope that helps.

I agree with the above poster. I have been with SS for much, much longer. I find my PM easy to get along with. They do run out of work occasionally but what company does not. Pay is on time. I happen to like the platform as it is super easy to use and works with Word. They do not use VR (super plus for me). Faster internet speed does help with speed of program. Each company works better for some than others. However, SoftScript is a good fit for me.
Thank you so much SS MT nm - There had to be some positives

And isnt that sad. That the fact pay is on time (as it should be) - is something worth mentioning. SM

7-8 years ago, nobody would have thought that would ever be a thing having to be said. Pay was always on time, pay was good. Pay on time was a given.

I had high hopes when I started working for SS. The manager and QA were nice and helpful, the dictators were awesome, and the software was user-friendly and fast, BUT the work wasn't there. Nothing worse on a Sunday than sitting there babysitting the machine and only getting 150 lines for the whole day. I gave it 3 months and then left. The funny thing is last week I got a voicemail from someone at SS asking me if I could log in the system and do a stat report (I quit over 6 months ago)!

Jul 30, 2012

Because I'm failing to see it's superiority over DQS 6.  None of the features seem to work right on it, and even the ASR, although still a wreck, was better in DQS 6.  For example, DQS 7 ASR puts in headings every time it hears the word plan or medication, etc.  It also fails to put any commas in when there is a sentence listing something.    Just thought it would be helpful if somebody shared something they liked about DQS 7 that DQS 6 didn't have.  ...
