This is an article about how MQ wants to buy Spheris and CBAY wants to buy the other part of Spheris. At the end of this article is for you to post your comments and let these people know what we think!!! I just did my part and let them know what I really thought of all this!!

If this buyout occurs, it will make MQ and CBAY the largest and all their bad practices will filter down to the rest of the companies and could get worse for MT/QA in the future. Speak your mind and let these people know how you feel what MTSO's have done to the MT profession!!! I even had to put my input on the AHDI and how they took MQ MT lawsuit money!

What else have you got to lose! If you do not voice, then whoever you work for could be run by MQ/CBAY or your company will follow the acts of them.

Here is what I wrote:

To allow such a sale to take place would very likely bring about the demise of medical transcription as we know it in America today. Medquist has long held (and earned) its reputation as the 900-pound gorilla that can sit anywhere it chooses. (In fact, its nickname in the industry is "The Squid" because of the way it swallows up everyone and everything in its path.) Medquist has long treated American transcriptionists like the slaves they have become and turned our profession into an electronic plantation. There are very important issues here having to do with quality of work, with the safety of allowing so much work to be offshored, and with patient privacy rights issues, but there is an even more important issue here and that is the issue of humanity. How long will MTs have to take the kind of treatment Medquist has been dishing out for years? What will a monopoly (and that is what it will be) created by this sale look like? And how long will it be before the truly experienced MT who honestly cares about quality of the work product throws up his or her hands in disgust and walks away? Medquist has been the neighborhood bully for years, and it is time for it to stop.

I am a disgusted MT who is still recovering from the "Medquist experience" after having given them 10 loyal years. I respectfully decline to sign my name, as I have a few more years to work until retirement. The MT world is small and I cannot afford to offend the squid, which has long tentacles and can reach and influence everywhere. But you really do not need my name, for my name is legion. Medquist has harmed many, many MTs, more than I can count. If you are in a position to speak or act in our behalf, please, for the love of this profession, do so now.

MQ/CBAY still has to bid in 30 days. - Other companies are bidding.

However, MQ acts like they are going to win. Received an email from corporate about how they are taking over. It is not a done deal yet. MQ has to bid in front of a judge and others and the court decides if it should go through or not.

Just like how you hear about some other big wig companies. You first hear about a possible merge, but it did not happen. Google and Microsoft for example.

As an MT, there's no chance of getting a raise or promotion, and so there's little incentive or motivation, especially being paid pennies per line. Yet, they expect you to participate in continuing education, which takes additional time and perhaps even money. What a joke. Hi, I really do concur with "Raining Pennies" that it is very important to read the posting guideines. Otherwise, if you inadvertently breach the guidelines, you will wind up getting banned. I did breech the posting guidelines and I did get banned, but I'm back for one more chance at staying within the "posting guidelines."
