Advice-Mixed reviews on Transcend and Nuance, anyone care to share their experience?? - NeedaJob2

Posted: Oct 23, 2011

I am looking for a FT job with benefits and steady work.  I am considering applying to these 2 companies so I am hoping some will share their experiences good and bad so I can have something to compare to.  I currently am working on eScription through a local hospital as an IC so I wanted to apply at companies that I knew had eScription as I feel I am most productive on this platform.

Current Nuance employee - ANON

I currently work for Nuance and have so for about three months. I have mixed feelings so far and still not sure if I want to stay with the company. There is a lot of training to accomplish before starting and it took me about 3-1/2 weeks before I could actually start producing lines to get a paycheck. I have found there is also quite a lack of communication. I was hired to work on a specific account and it took 1-1/2 weeks of unanswered emails for them to figure out that I had been assigned to the incorrect supervisor. Then once assigned to the correct supervisor, she was sending me emails through the "new company email" system regarding training so I could actually start working, however I was never given any download information for this new system and never got any of the emails. Also, it seems that there are way too many chiefs and not enough indians per se. I have found with the four different supervisors I have had over the last three months, all of them have quite a communication problem. It takes about two emails to get an answer to one simple question. The worst problem for myself was once I was done training, there were no supervisors for that account available during my third shift hours. I have also heard through another employee through MTStars that as Nuance outsources to India, some of the QA staff is also from India and make numerous mistakes when "proofing" our reports. This employee actually quit working for Nuance as she was constantly getting written up for her accurancy percentage being so low because of mistakes performed by the Indian employees.

Sorry to say, but there is nothing really outstanding about Nuance and if I didn't have the fear of having to go through the entire training process with another company, I'd probably look for work somewhere else also.

I must have been hired on the same time as you, and I have had the same experiences! I chose a harder acct, paid hourly rather than by production, just to get my feet wet. It's been very difficult to get my line counts up to their requirements as there are SO MANY poor speaking ESLs and the audio is sometimes poor. Training was lackluster... i've never had to do phone based and video based training like this, usually companies take advantage of web based meetings/communication but not them. i'm going to try to stick with it as best i can but at the same time, i'm looking for an opportunity elsewhere, maybe with another acct/same co.

Anyone Working For TransTech Care To Share Your Experience,sm
Mar 30, 2011

The VR cannot even understand these ESLs, so I am not understanding why they would be placed in VR.  I mean really, this VR sucks.  It leaves out a lot of easy words that it didn't seem to catch on the English speaking docs also.  I seem to be spending a lot of time typing these ESL VR jobs instead of editing them.  Thanks for any input.  ...

Anyone Working At Transform Care To Share Your Experience
Oct 26, 2011

Anyone working at Transform care to share your experience with this company.  I have never done editing before but I do have about 14 years oncology experience.  Is there enough work?  I would much rather do straight transcription, but it is getting more difficult every week to even find jobs hiring for it.  Also what is their pay scale for doing editing.  Do they have any straight transcription?  Thanks for your help. ...

Transcend Production Straight Typing Mixed With VR
Oct 06, 2011

Hi, I was hoping someone who works for Transcend could give me a round about of how many straight typing jobs you have versus VR.  The VR is Escription.  I am about to start with them, but I am nervous that I won't make any money.  If you could give me an average of how many lines you get straight typing and how many come from VR?  If you would like to email me that's fine.     Thank you, :)  ...

Any X-JLGers Care To Share Experiece Since Being Bought? Sm
Nov 17, 2011

I'm curious if it is "business as usual" across the board or did that depend on what accts we worked on.  For me it has been business as usual when there is business.  I have run out of work more in the past 2 months than I did the 3+ years that I worked for JLG.  Not sure where the work is going but I have some guesses.  I'm also extremely anxious about when all the punishments kick in for us valued MTs.  I for one do not wish to be rewarded.  I think MQ ...

Are There Any Transcenders Willing To Share Their Positive Experience?
Jan 29, 2010

Maybe I'm the eternal optimist.  My eyes are wide open, and I've been through previous crappy merger.  Maybe The Worst Case will indeed happen.  I guess it's like MQ, the ship of misery where everyone (including me) stayed and stayed and stayed for numerous reasons.  I finally got off only to find a few yrs later a new merger with Transcend.  BTW, the number I  heard on conferences was that with MDI-MD, Transcend was now with 1200 MLS/TLs.  Just ...

Share Your Experience Working At Keystrokes
Jan 21, 2013

Would you please share your experience working at Keystrokes.  Is it as bad as posted on here, or are there any "happy" MTs there?  Are you able to work your full shift and get your line counts?  If not, how many different accounts do you have to work on to make enough money to live on?  Are their platforms hard to learn and do you have to switch back and forth on those too?  Do you get raised to 8 cpl as promised?  Thanks for any info you would care to share...appreciate your time. ...

Glassdoor Reviews Of Nuance By MTs
Dec 24, 2014

They had me LOLing and appreciating the expressive writing skills of my fellow MTs. One especially good one is in toto below. We should all go on there and add to their sterling, well deserved reputation. This is in the public domain, so I don't think I am breaking any rules copying this, but by all means if anyone wants to put their name on this, I don't blame you. Great review of terrible employer. To wit:  “Working for them is like drowning and they are holding your he ...

Getting Acute Care Experience
May 26, 2010

I have been an MT for 11 years and am wanting to expand my knowledge base beyond the realm of radiology. I have been applying for acute care positions but I am not even given the opportunity to test most of the time because I don't have any acute care experience. I would like to know what I would have to do in order to get some acute care experience behind me so that I can become eligible to apply for and test for acute care positions. Any information anyone has on this would be most a ...

How Do You Get Acute Care Experience?
Aug 06, 2012

I would love to know how you get acute care experience when no one will give you the opportunity without it. I am good at what I do and work hard. My pay has been cut in half and I am looking for extra work but no one will look at me without acute care experience. Does anyone have any suggestion?  ...

Acute Care Experience

I have been looking for full or part-time work for quite some time now.  Most of the ads require acute care experience.  Is it worth taking a course for acute care or should I work on getting my CMT certification?  With all of the changes to health care recently, I didn't know if it was worth pursuing.  ...

Experienced, But No Acute Care Experience
Apr 03, 2011

Hi All, I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years, working both in-house and home (currently doing both), but the company I currently work for is going to EMR (and of course, I'm the one setting it up for them) and will be out of a job within the coming months. I have applied and taken tests for various companies and have also had phone interviews over the last year.  Unfortunately I am not offered a position due to "not having enough experience" in the acute care field.  Corr ...
