in addition to your paycheck as part of your compensation for working for them. I'm pretty sure it's illegal not to pay a terminated or quitting worker for the time not taken.
When I filed a Labor Board complaint against an employer many years ago, it was for insurance coverage I was supposed to have as part of my compensation, but that they neglected to give. I not only got money back that I had paid for that nonexistent insurance, I also got back pay from a couple of bounced checks, AND pay for PTO I'd earned but not used. (This was in California.)
