PDF files through acrobat reader - Wendy

Posted: Feb 05, 2010

I get an email with a log sent to me through PDF files that opens through acrobat reader.  The text fonts are so small sometimes it is very very straining to read.  Does anyone know how to make it larger?  Or can it be opened through something else to make it work?  Any help appreciated by these old eyes.

Thank you

scroll back and forth to enlarge or make smaller. This trick works on web pages, in Word, and lots of other applications.

Is there a way to make the text print larger?? nm - wondering

That will make print later, other way smaller.

Can you see PLUS and MINUS buttons on the tool bars - above the text in .pdf

[ In Reply To ..]

When you open your .pdf file, do you have a tool bar just above the content text that looks something like this?

Icon: Printer – Icon:  xxx - Arrow up – Arrow down – gray box “1” / x – blue minus buttonblue plus button – gray box “xx%” – xxx – gray box “Find”

You can use the blue “plus” or “minus” buttons to make the text larger or smaller, to whatever % you need.

Also, if it is a long document and you want to jump to a page in the middle, just type in the page number in the first gray box.  If it was a 200 page document it would show “1” / 200.  To go to page 125, simply type “125” in that gray box.

I have seen that tool bar positioned differently on different computers.  If yours does not look exactly like I described, just look for a “plus” and “minus” button somewhere on the tool bars above the text.  All software should have them somewhere.

Hope this helps.

I can enlarge the text on the computer screen, but - curious

it still prints that same tiny print. Hard on the eyes for this ol' lady! :) LOL

Drop down the File menu. Do you have the option to - SM

save as text? This will allow you to convert the file and read it in Notepad.

The options available depend on the creator of the PDF file, but you might also be able to highlight all the text in the PDF and paste it to your word processor where you can enlarge the font and print.
I give up. Thanks for trying. - curious

I can't highlight to copy & paste, and saving it as txt to my documents and opening with notepad totally messes it up.

Thanks, though!
Don't give up yet. :) Do a Google search - SM

for PDF Hammer. It's a free online service that lets you upload and edit PDF files, then save back to your hard drive.

I have not used this service, but hope it works for you.

I used the pdf hammer convert to word, and was easily able to enlarge and print.

Thank you SO much!! (And, my tired eyes thank you, too!!) :)
Thanks for coming back and saying it worked! - SM

I had heard of that little program but didn't know for sure what it could really do.
Just FYI - curious

The regular hammer thing didn't work for me. I was unable to change the size of the print that way no matter how I tried. I will admit that I'm not a whiz at this type thing, obviously, and maybe someone else can.

However, when I used the convert to word, that's easy enough for anybody.

I'm posting this just so ya know there are "more ways than one to skin a cat", as my grandpa would've said, in case you run into this in the future

Once again, I thank you, from this ol' southern gal.

AccuStat EMR Was Featured In A Reader's Digest Article
Oct 20, 2009

Before the moderator ices this post, it is public knowledge that they were featured in a Reader's Digest article a few months back about how hard it is to get capital funding from banks. The article said they make 34 million a year but can't get a 500K loan to buy equipment. It said they are trying to transition clients from paper to EMR. I found it strange that if they make that much money a year, that they wouldn't have any capital to invest in the business. ...

Article In October's Issue Of Reader's Digest....
Sep 24, 2010

Reader's Digest, October issue, has an article based on physicians, nurses and pharmacists sharing their mistakes which caused fatal incidences.  It could be a good time to write in a response on what is happening with the medical records too.  You know, the errors made with voice recognition, lousy dictation either because of doctors, equipment or environment, and the fact that we are required to have 98% accuracy in transcribing reports, not to mention the off shoring.... ...
