Nope, there sure isn't.You need the Olympus Player Standard program to convert those files or tell your doc to switch his recorder to always dictate in dss or wav format.
Months ago I had to do the same thing, I googled it and found this (sm) - anon

I've been using the Switch Sound File Converter ever since with no problems.
Good luck!

I don't think this works on ds2 files though just dss files. If it does (and I am going to check, 'cuz that would be just great to have) thanks for the link!
You may be right but I am also running another program (sm) - anon

DSS2WAV that may be converting them as well. One or the other is doing it though because I transcribe them from ExpressScribe, I just cannot remember which.

Well I cannot get the NCH to convert the ds2 files, but am checking out the other you mentioned. The problem I have is for my ICs who receive these frustrating files--it would be nice to see if there was something that could do this for them, but free. Looks like this is a 30-day trial. I know the Bytescribe player will play the files, but that is not an option for some of my ICs as it is cost prohibitive so I am always on the lookout for something to help. Thanks again! And OP, sorry to derail your thread.

Well just finished downloading something LOL and going to give it a try now. I did tell the dr. to use just dss on the Olympus but she already did a decent amount of work on it using the ds2. I have downloaded the olympus player to play the file but you have no control of the file without using the mouse

Ugh. Feel for you! Olympus is awful about the proprietary software/pedal. You can download a free trial of the bytescribe player and maybe that will get you through the files that you do have.

turbodictation worked in coverting the sound files. Yes it is only a trial but only need it for now and it might be worth purchasing anyway. I feel that is our responsibility to be able to convert the file so we can transcribe it. The docs I work for are technically challenged and pay me geneoursly so I try to make their life easier in return Thank you
Does anyone get a error like this in Chartscript.net? "Voice file failed to load. Object does not support this property or method." I need help fixing it. Thank you! ...
Hello,
This is for the small MTSO or MT who serves a few clients:
Which method are you using for accessing digital audio files? If FTP. are the dictators downloading them on your website or are you accessing them from theirs? Anyone here using one of the services for this? If so, which one and how is the cost working out?
Also was interested in info on transcribing/player software, particularly QuickScribe.
Thanks. ...

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the easiest method to use for obtaining voice files. Would it be to have the doctor dictate and then upload to an FTP site? I think he was hoping for a phone line. Does anyone use a phone system in their home for the docs? If so, what is it?
Thanks for any info. ...

I work on eBTXT and am told there is no way for me to relisten to the audio after it goes to QA, but of course my TSM can, which gets me nowhere. Is there a way to save the voice file to my computer? I would of course delete any patient demographics. I hate not being able to relisten to my reports that QA reviewed, especially since they're just guessing and changing what they want. I haven't been able to locate anywhere on my computer where files are stored even ...
I am trying to do a transcription test and the company I used to work for changed my computer setup and I can no longer use Express Scribe to play voice files using my foot pedal. Does anyone know where the settings are to make it play voice files once they are on Express Scribe and where on my computer do I check to see what the foot pedal setting is? I have been trying to fix this so I can get through the transcription test and hopefully MAYBE ACTUALLY GET A JOB?&nbs ...
Anyone click on the Documed link for testing. They have voice files with patient's names and one even has date of birth, along with physician's city and state location. Doesn't this push the envelope for HIPAA regulations? Just seems wrong to me. ...
One of those MTtest sites. Called their help desk and they said a lot of people have trouble, not to worry and try this. I tried that. Nothing. They said to call back and they would work it out.
I don't know if this is worth it. The testing portions were fine, went quickly but just trying to get the transcription part up is time consuming and frustrating. Anyone else have problems with this? ...
I wanted to know some pointers to get ahead with understanding a doctor's dictation in certain parts of a voice file. I am having a hard time even though I have been doing MT work for over a year.
Any suggestions would really help.

I was wondering, is anybody making any money at all on voice? I keep hearing just minimum or maybe a little more. I call minimum wage 7.50 to 8.00 an hour. My experience with it was at one point I was told that I hadn't made enough for minimum and they had to do make-up pay. So how is everybody's experience with voice? I run from it, and I just want to know if anybody really can make an money? Thanks. ...

I have been out of the MT business for a couple of years but had an opportunity to do some parttime work. I have switched to a Macbook Pro and used to use Gearplayer and an Infinity foot pedal. Anyone know of something that would be compatiable with Mac since neither of these are? Also, wondered if my shorthand would work on it... Thanks for any advice.

Can anyone tell me how to bring up old patient files on Escription/EditScript using version 8? My company just upgraded from version 6 becasue it is not being supported anymore. There are some changes between the two versions. They did not give any directions, just said you need to upgrade, so do this. I would really love to be able to go back and check things sometimes such as medications and previous diagnoses to make sure I hear them correctly, particularly when the sp ...
I downloaded ExpressScribe but the sound isn't that great. I'm not sure if it's my file or if there's a better FREE program to download. The files I'm trying to transcribe are .dss.

I am saving all my client files from the last 3 months, as I have get to be paid. What am I supposed to do with these files? I am not getting rid of them because that is the only proof that I have that I worked for the company. I am trying desperately to retrieve my monies due, but as of now, nothing. I worked for 3 months and only received payment for 3 pay periods (5 weeks). This is a crappy company and I only wish that I had believed all of the negarive pos ...
I had posted before about problems playing files with WAVpedal on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer. Most of those problems have been resolved (thanks to my IT guy and NOT the tech guy at the software place). However, I still can't play .DSS files. I'm seeing elsewhere that I may need a codec or to convert these files in some way. Can anyone out there explain to me how I'd go about doing this?
Thanks! ...

Is someone able to help me with playing .rm or .ra files in Express Scribe? I have tried everything to download one file into Express Scribe. I did it one time, then my free trial ran out, so I had to uninstall/re-install, and now I cannot find any version that allows these type of files. I have also tried a converter, but do not want to purchase one because this is for a test.
So, I'm wondering if there is a certain version of ES that does allow these files? OR, ANY other advice is gre ...
